By itself, Tesoro-Savage’s proposed facility would ship over 360,000 barrels of crude oil per day—almost half as much as the Keystone XL Pipeline. This “pipeline on rails” would bring four or more mile-long trains carrying explosive crude oil across western states, through Spokane, along the Columbia River, and into Vancouver every day. We must stop it. When these oil trains derail, they can spill, explode and ignite. We’ve already seen these devastating accidents across North America. When oil tankers crash and spill, fish and wildlife die, the harm lasts for decades, tribal economies and cultures suffer, and local river and fishing jobs are lost. Let’s work together to make sure this doesn’t happen. Washington’s Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council just released its draft environmental review. Comment now to make sure this project—the largest oil-by-rail terminal proposed in North America—is rejected.

The state of Michigan has been taking over cities that become to a "state of emergency" financially for years. The newly-elected city of Flint mayor Karen Weaver requested a declaration of a state of emergency in Flint, a status that if granted would empower city officials to help secure mutual aid and tap into critical, additional resources and assistance from local, state, and federal agencies. The Fiscal Code bill is one of the bills that must be passed in order for the state's budget to be passed. It details procedural rules about how money can be spent, like who can sign checks, etc., so it's a prime target for pork and other political hijinks. This time around, the Senate has passed a version of the bill that includes several environment killing measures. The bill is moving quickly and may be passed by the House at any time. Unless the few environmental champions in the House prevail at removing those measures, it is the version of the bill Governor Wolf will receive for his signature. This petition backs the 21 kids from across the U.S., ages 8-19, who have taken the U.S. government to federal court, demanding science-based action on climate change. Every person, regardless of age, race, gender or religion has the right to a clean environment and a safe future - and the U.S. government's continued acts that prevent meaningful climate recovery undermine that right. When these kids spoke up, Big Oil companies like ExxonMobil, Shell, BP and Koch Industries got scared and through their trade associations joined the U.S. government in trying to stop the lawsuit. Our children know that we can’t wait to achieve a binding climate justice deal. We stand with them in demanding that the U.S. government stop the continued permitting and subsidy of the fossil fuel industry and adopt a national science-based Climate Recovery Plan to bring atmospheric CO2 concentrations below 350 ppm by the year 2100.

The Obama administration has proved to be more damaging to the environment and endangered species then even the Reagan administration some thirty years ago. The assault on our public lands and wildlife has got to stop.

This IS the Earth's Message at this time. Rivers are life giving, when flowing naturally. The damming of Rivers has caused the most damage environmentally and climactically. This MUST be reversed swiftly. For ALL of us. The natural disasters impact the entire Human Family. When the dams were made, people didn't know or weren't responsible. Now, for human populations worldwide, FREEING THE RIVERS IS ESSENTIAL. Earth is ONE planet. The watersystems are all interlinked. What happens in one place is not disconnected from other parts of the planet. We gotta address this now, while we are being given some time to rectify our mistakes. This is urgent. We can do this, all of us related to the dams in any way, its needed for all of us.

Because low income communities and communities of color have borne the brunt of environmental injustice for too long.
