• STOP Sacramento Apartments from over watering this summer!
I've watched enough water wasted on trying to make apartments aesthetically charming, but other ground cover that is more natural to our drought state should be used instead. There should be a limit to the amount of water used by apartment sprinkler systems - SPECIFICALLY sprinklers. They are rammed into by cars, not repaired, and not maintained well enough. Private water use is high enough. A tax incentive of a few dollars would stop this water waste easily.

  • CEMEX Park Spells Fire Danger in Santa Cruz Mountains
Preventing commercial development of the CEMEX area is a commendable idea. However, opening the area to human activity such as camping, hiking, biking, picnicking, and horseback riding would negatively impact all Bonny Doon residents by greatly increasing the ever present danger of devastating forest fires.

  • Save Water for Human Use
Water is a decreasing resource in New Mexico and we should not waste water on green lawns for large-scale properties. Xeriscapes are beautiful and should be encouraged for commercial buildings. Imagine not being able to deliver water to residences; it could happen if we don't think ahead.

  • Alternative Energy at Hanford
Nuclear facilities run by our government are dangerous and outdated. Sustainable alternative energy is safer, cleaner, and supported by many people in the state. I've written legislative representatives, several US Presidents and Governors of our state explaining Hanford's background and availability in choosing this option. Hanford is costing our state billions to monitor. It was initially built on Native American Land. Converting Hanford is the only sane option which would insure a safe and secure future.

  • plastic ban
Our planet can simply not afford more trash. We know it and we need to do something about it. We know seatbelts save lives so it is enforced, why not to do the same with plastics so we don't leave our kids a trashed planet? It is so doable, it is a shame not to act now.

  • Mayor Young: Make Yorba Linda a Tree City USA
Recently, Yorba Linda recognized its 45-year heritage as a bird sanctuary by installing signs around main city roads. It's time to show residents and visitors that Yorba Linda is also committed to maintaining high standards of community forestry management. Securing the designation of Tree City USA from the Arbor Day Foundation will solidify Yorba Linda's commitment to a healthy and sustainable environment.
