Stillwater Approved Recycling-Yet the Streets are littered with TrashMy daughter and I walk to school daily and step over glass bottles and condoms in the yards we have to go through. That trash blows into the neighboring businesses and just stays. We pick up what we are able to but sometimes more than just one family is needed to help.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Moriah Nelson

Ban the Bomb TrainsDue to the boom in hydrofracking, oil and gas companies have a glut of product to transport to refineries on the coasts of America. They are transporting this highly volatile, explosive crude over antiquated rail lines in tank cars designed to carry corn syrup and molasses. The federal government reports that last year, more than 1.15 million gallons of crude oil leaked and spilled from rail tank cars. That's more than was spilled in all the previous forty years! Top federal rail administrator Karl Alexy recently stated that it is impossible to "design a rail car strong enough to withstand crude oil rail train accidents ..." In August, 2013, forty-seven innocent people were incinerated when these cars derailed and exploded in Lac Megantic, Quebec. It's expected to cost billions to rebuild Lac Megantic and compensate the victims, but the railroad and the crude oil owner have "gone out of business." In December, 2013, a 106-car crude oil train derailed in Castleton, North Dakota. Eighteen tank cars exploded; the fired burned for two days. On April 30, 2014, six DOT-111 rail cars of a virtual pipeline of crude derailed and exploded in Lynchburgh, Virginia, burning for hours and polluting the water supplies for thousands of people. These DOT-111 rail cars were declared unsafe and hazardous by US and Canadian railroad officials in 2011, yet they are still carrying millions of gallons of explosive crude oil through unsuspecting and helpless communities all across the United States, every day. This is wrong. President Obama can use his authority under last March's Executive Order to halt this unprecedented and unnecessary risk today. Let's make this happen before another person dies in flames.371 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Susan Weber

Animals Need Legal AdvocatesSeveral bears were recently killed in central Florida because one stupid woman got between a mother bear and her cubs. Please note, that the black bear did not kill the woman and released her. Unfortunately, at last count 7 bears were murdered because of this incident...6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Susan Stavros

No more fiery oil-by-rail disasters in our back yards! The recent train derailment in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia, sent several punctured, burning oil cars plunging into the James River—a major water source for local communities and major cities downstream, including Richmond. The amount of crude oil spilled into the river hasn't yet been confirmed, but even a small amount of gooey, sticky crude oil could be disastrous to the watershed. This fiery disaster comes after the purported implementation of "voluntary" safety improvements demanded by the Department of Transportation. The regulatory system just hasn't caught up to the problem. Tell President Obama and Congress to get these dangerous oil tank cars off our cities' railways NOW! Last week, two days of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) hearings emphasized what the advisory agency has been saying for decades: NOW is the time to get the most dangerous tank cars transporting crude OFF the rails. Take action to protect tens of thousands of cities nationwide that are being put at risk by dangerous crude oil rail cars.200 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Matt Krogh

Ban Foam Food Storage ContainersI am concerned about the amount of Styrofoam currently being used in the United States. Foam cups, to-go containers, and food trays are all being thrown away . It can take a million or more years for Styrofoam to decompose. Styrofoam is one of the most environmentally unfriendly products to use. On average, 73 billion mostly Styrofoam cups and plates are being thrown away every year in the USA. I propose that we require the food service industry to use alternatives that are made from renewable and sustainable plant based resources, use less energy and emit less CO2 during production, and offer ways to divert waste from our landfills.145 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Laurie Rousseau

US Government: Re-SubsidizeThe US government currently provides annual subsides to carbon based industries in excess of $200 billion. This includes such industries as oil, natural gas, and coal. These industries are already very profitable and do not warrant this support. We propose these subsides instead be redirected to clean, renewable energy sources which will strengthen our energy independence and provide lasting jobs transforming our energy grid to use renewable energy sources.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Thomas Southerland
