These lands were taken illegally from the Cherokee people and must be returned! We are just simply asking for the return of what belonged to us. This will cost the Federal Government nothing! Recently, the Health Care Authority has temporarily allowed interpreters who cover Medicaid interpreting appointments to work from home while being compensated at their current rate of pay during this COVID-19 situation. On the other hand, L&I has chosen to require medical and vocational providers to only use pre-approved vendors in the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) contract when needing interpreters over the phone. This includes companies like Language Link, and Lionbridge. This is causing extreme hardship to independent interpreters who cover face to face L&I appointments, being obligated to remain at home without any means to support their families. If the HCA was able to quickly find a solution for their interpreters, why can't Labor & industries? As this COVID-19 situation develops, we need to do whatever it takes to help our economy. Please join us and ask the Department of Labor and Industries to do what's right for the majority of workers which are independent interpreters, not just a few companies. While we are at home and staying healthy, we shouldn't be worried that L&I will give our jobs to out of state companies.

I have student loans and a car loan with Nissan Financial and I was told they will push back my auto loan but add on extra interests. I think if we are out of work for a month or two instead of charging extra interest and pushing out our loan out several months that those months be counted as paid and we are given time to settle our lives after everything gets back to normal.

There is no way to order trash tags online; you have to go to the store to buy them, violating the stay at home order. More people staying at home means more trash - no way around it. Many people are struggling to buy food and pay bills, let alone being able to afford trash tags. This small gesture of removing the limit will help all of KCMO, be it that struggling single parent, the at-risk grandparent, or the people who have been laid off. Please sign and pass this on

Mutual aid is defined as a voluntary reciprocal exchange of resources and services. There are already several mutual aid efforts underway, both neighborhood-based and citywide. They are decentralized by necessity, and the organizers are conscious and cautious around the need to practice social distancing and follow safety and health protocols as recommended by the CDC. We would invite the city and county to participate in our collective thinking around making mutual aid safe in this time. Durham has precedent for effective, widespread efforts at mutual aid in times of crisis, including recent successful efforts to get emergency supplies to victims of Hurricane Florence in 2018. Durham was an epicenter of the organizing that led to airdropping shipments of supplies to affected areas, making necessities more accessible, and more quickly, than many official sources of support including cities, counties, and the Red Cross. In addition to our request to protect mutual aid efforts, we fully support the recent call to reduce community harm by rejecting policing and carceral responses to this pandemic. We are also heavily conscious of the real danger of the coronavirus to people incarcerated in the Durham County Jail. We therefore demand that everyone who wants to be released from the jail be allowed to do so immediately, and that the County provide appropriate wellness and safety provisions for those who choose to remain. Mutual aid efforts in Durham are not situated to do casework, but are interested in helping to support the release of prisoners through neighborhood-based mutual aid. The spirit of the Community Safety and Wellness Task Force was to create community systems of care. Even in a time of crisis when we’re encouraged to do social distancing, we can have solidarity even beyond the confines of our families and neighborhoods. Due to COVID-19, there is an overwhelming amount of unemployment, benefits, food and personal and household necessities. Help needed for travel expenses to those workers who are still on the front line during these devastating times to help America and Wisconsinites become and stay healthy.

We are in a pandemic crisis and the state could have desperately used that money for ventilators, healthcare resources and costs and for relief to the many citizens impacted by our state economy stalled and even collapsing.

My husband is currently detained at the El Paso Service Processing Center. My husband is currently detained. We have children born in the US. I have constant communication with my husband as this COVID-19 pandemic has increased. We both find ourselves more concerned and panicked to say the least. In the borderland where we live there is already community spread. It is only a matter of time and pretty much inevitable that this virus will be introduced and spread into the center. The conditions are already poor even in their best circumstances. I know that ICE has the discretion to release people from custody and I feel like there is no better time than now. Those in detention who have families here need to be with them, especially in these dire times. Everyone in detention deserves the right to be in the best conditions to protect themselves from the virus. I am asking for your help for people in ICE custody to be heard. I am asking for a louder voice. I would like to reach the people in charge of the Detention Center as well as the ICE field office director to push them to release everyone in detention. The Country has been declared to be in a State of Emergency. Gov. Greg Abbott on 3/19/20 sent executive orders to prohibit crowds of 10 people or more. The El Paso Service Processing Center is housing more than 60-70 people per barracks, making the center contradict orders given by Abbott. The facility has made NO changes in the way they handle possible contact contamination, no hand sanitizer, no antibacterial wipes, no deep cleaning! My husband is relying on “1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi....” to wash his hands with no antibacterial soap, and using tissue paper to avoid touching anything as his tactic to protect himself. We are in a crisis and I am begging for the life of my husband and for the lives of everyone detained by ICE, please help us be heard. Our country needs to unite and what better way than to have people unite with their families! The number of people with COVID-19 in the country is increasing. Those detained in close quarters, like at El Paso Service Processing Center, are particularly susceptible to contracting and rapidly spreading this highly contagious virus. Medical care at ICE facilities in Texas, especially at El Paso, are inadequate, and proper measures have not been taken to ensure the safety of detained people or facility staff during this outbreak. It is impossible to practice social distancing in a detention facility.

The industry has always put its short-term profits over the health of our climate, environment and wildlife. Now that it's facing a reckoning, it's desperate for Congress — and taxpayers — to keep it afloat. Giving billions to coal, oil and gas companies while ordinary Americans are suffering diverts critical time and resources from the very real public-health crisis on hand.

I work at Walmart and working in an environment where there are ten of thousands of people a day who could very easily be sick and touching surfaces, coughing, etc. It isn’t fair for me to have to get sick to get paid leave. I have a wife and child like many of my coworkers do and we do not want to spread the virus it to our loved ones because we are forced to go to work or else be fired.

People losing jobs cannot work

For many years, Bassett Park has served as a seasonal homeless shelter, contained within the gymnasium. To that end, our community has cohabitated with the homeless population on park grounds. The elderly, children and adults alike have enjoyed the activities at the park in conjunction with the operation of a homeless shelter. We are NOT calling for a complete removal of the homeless shelter. We understand that given the current pandemic, these are unprecedented times and call for drastic measures. Nonetheless, we demand that all measures taken to transform Bassett Park from a center of recreation to a complete homeless shelter, consider the cost to the community. We demand that our representatives ensure that ALL communities, despite their median incomes, take their fair share of the homeless population and work to provide services to this vulnerable community. We will not allow the complete disintegration of our neighborhood, nor will we stand for the complete erasure of our presence from our community recreation center.
