Ban Plastic Straws in MassachusettsPlastic straws contain BPA (Bisphenol A), which is an industrial chemical that is colorless, and poorly soluble in water. When the fish are exposed to the toxins, they acquire them, then we eat the fish, taking in a much higher and stronger concentration of BPA via bio magnification. Aside from the dangers that this plastic poses to humans, the effects they have on aquatic life is detrimental. The straws are ingested by different species of sea life that then suffocate on the straws and killing the animals. Fish in the North Pacific Ocean alone ingest 12,000 to 24,000 tons of plastic each year. Please sign this petition and join our journey so we can get rid of plastic straws!6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tiffany H

Help send 50,000 comments to the State Department demanding that it reject Keystone XL!Donald Trump greenlighted Keystone XL as part of his efforts to make it easier for Big Oil companies like TransCanada to put our air, water and climate at risk -- all so they can make more profits. Together, we’re fighting back. Friends of the Earth members like you are helping take Trump to court to stop this pipeline. We’re pulling out all the stops to prevent Trump from handing over our environment to TransCanada. But at the same time, we need to keep up the public pressure to stop this project. Ban lawn care pesticides in Bethlehem, NYThe volume of pesticides/herbicides placed on home lawns is truly staggering. These pesticides by their very nature are toxic. They poison our children, pets, drinking water, pollinators and aquatic life. Just the fact that children in households using these toxic pesticides have a 6 fold increase in leukemia, should encourage a ban! There are plenty of safer alternatives. NYS has already acknowledged the danger by passing the NYS Child Safe Playing Fields Act by banning these chemicals from playgrounds and playing fields. We need to extend this ban to the rest of the community where children live and play. You can make a difference, start locally and think globally!13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Holly Swanson

Steel millI am a resident of Braddock. I own my home and have been in the area for about 10 years now. Not only can't we enjoy sitting on our porch because of the smell of the steel mill, but the dirt and debris are unbearable. We can’t even open a window in our home to get fresh air or a cool breeze. I am also concerned with the health of my daughters and me. Since we’ve lived in the area, we have had a lot of respiratory issues that we weren’t experiencing before. I am a taxpayer and it’s not fair to me or other residents. The CEO, managers, and employees who work in the mill don’t have to live and put up with the environmental issues, so why should we?15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elizabeth Wilson

Protect Riverhead with Covenants in EPCAL ContractThere is much debate in Riverhead about whether the Town Board should vote that the Calverton Aviation & Technology is Qualified and Eligible to purchase the last 1,640 acres of land at EPCAL However, there is broad agreement that the contract railroaded by the former Board at its last meeting in December is flawed and does not adequately protect the long-term interests of the Town. Rather than trust in the good intentions of the Ghermezian family, the contract must be modified or supplemented with these five specified covenants to guarantee that if the land is sold to them, the 600 developable acres are used only for the proper purpose and the 1,000 undevelopable acres are returned to the Town. Such covenants permanently "run with the land," irrespective of who owns it. Deeds that formalize future sales would be obliged by law to repeat these same covenants.88 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Coalition Against EPCAL Housing

Stop the Trump administration from industrializing our Gulf with floating factory farms! The Trump administration is considering handing over our oceans to industrial ocean fish farms. These massive operations are essentially floating factory farms that devastate our ocean ecosystem, public health, society and the economy. Now, the Gulf Fishery Management Council is considering whether to permit a farm in Gulf waters. So the Council needs to hear from you that it should be protecting our Gulf waters, not hand them over to mega-corporations and factory farms.182 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Peter Stocker

SWCB: Protect Virginia's WaterOn June 20, 2018, pipeline opponents from across the state marched to DEQ in Richmond to deliver a set of nearly 800 signatures to this open letter (gathered in just five days). We will keep this petition open so that others may continue to sign. We plan to deliver updated versions on a rolling basis. Please note there is one factual error in the open letter. The lawsuit is Precision Pipeline v. Dominion, not the other way around.914 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Emily Satterwhite

Revoke grazing permit from rancher who beat wolf to death with a shovelCraig Thiessen, a rancher from Datil, New Mexico, pleaded guilty last month to brutally massacring a highly endangered Mexican gray wolf. With only 114 Mexican wolves in the wild, the death of even one is a huge blow to the recovery of the species as a whole. In his guilty plea, Mr. Thiessen admitted to intentionally capturing a Mexican gray wolf in a trap on his grazing allotment in the Gila National Forest and hitting the wolf with a shovel. He also admitted to knowing that the wolf was a highly endangered Mexican gray wolf because it was wearing a tracking collar. As a holder of a grazing permit on a Gila National Forest allotment, the rancher has received significant taxpayer money in livestock subsidies from the federal government. In pleading guilty to this criminal act of cruelty and disregard for a species on the brink of extinction, Mr. Thiessen has demonstrated his failure to meet the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of a public lands grazing permit. Please join us in asking the United States Forest Service Gila National Forest District Ranger to immediately cancel his grazing permit.1,417 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Hailey Hawkins, Endangered Species Coalition

Save the Red wolvesI love animals. I was in all the animal/wildlife programs at school, so to lose another species would be very sad. I am going into the fourth grade and I hope when I grow up the red wolf will still be alive.176 of 200 SignaturesCreated by iris Lane
