Berkeley City Council: Give Consumers the Right to Know!Direct Action Everywhere has investigated numerous supposedly "humane" farms supplying to Berkeley grocery stores like Whole Foods and documented filth, disease, extreme crowding, and cannibalism among the distressed animals. Consumers deserve to know that even "organic" dairy farms separate mothers and their babies immediately after birth, that "humane" egg farms can legally kill male chicks by throwing them into a grinding machine alive, and that behind the pretty images on the packaging, animals are being tortured for the products sold in Berkeley stores. We are calling upon the city of Berkeley to pass a first-of-its-kind consumer transparency law, requiring warning labels on all animal products sold in Berkeley.230 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Cassie King

Constituents of Chicago aldermen want hearings about lead in our water.70% of Chicago households have lead in their drinking water. There is no requirement for children to be tested for lead in their blood even though it creates a lifetime of mental and emotional damage. And out of 1200 public water fountains in Chicago parks, 750 have been cited with unsafe amounts of lead. The public needs to find out what problems there may be with our water, and the first step is City Council holding open hearings.120 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Maggie O'Keefe

Department of Interior: Reject the brutal hunting and trapping of bears and wolves in AlaskaThe U.S. Department of Interior has proposed overturning a ban put into place by President Obama that rightly blocked egregious and cruel methods of killing wildlife on National Park Service lands known as preserves. Among the unethical and offensive methods of wildlife killing that the Department of Interior has proposed be allowed are: The use of donuts, bacon, and other “baits” to attract bears to be shot; The hunting of bears with dogs; Killing of wolves and their pups in their dens; Using blindingly bright spotlights to shoot mother black bears and cubs hibernating in their dens. These methods of killing wildlife are antithetical to “fair chase” hunting and have no place on National Park Service lands. National Park Service Preserves in the remainder of the United States prohibit these methods and there is no rational purpose for allowing them here. We will pass along your comments as part of the 60 day comment period to the National Park Service on Docket ID: NPS-2018-0005 // Regulation Identifier Number (RIN) 1024-AE38, and will also follow up to encourage you to directly comment to ensure your voice is heard.39,684 of 40,000 SignaturesCreated by Endangered Species Coalition

Tell BlackRock to stop funding rainforest destruction and conflict palm oil!A new investigation by Friends of the Earth has revealed that a palm oil company in Liberia continues to drive deforestation, habitat destruction, and human rights violations in some of the most dense rainforests in West Africa. These findings show that Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL) is actively destroying rainforests that are home to chimpanzees, hippos, and thousands of people who have lived and worked upon these lands for generations. BlackRock, the multi-trillion dollar Wall Street asset manager, is invested in the company that backs GVL. BlackRock has recently proclaimed itself a leader in responsible investing. We need to let them know that their support of this abuse and environmental destruction is unacceptable.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Peter Stocker

Tell the Department of the Interior: No drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge! The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Northern Alaska provides important habitat for polar bears, caribou, and rare migratory birds. The area’s wildlife has supported the indigenous Gwich’in people for thousands of years. But the Trump administration is poised to open up this important ecosystem to oil and gas drilling. If this plan goes through, it would be catastrophic for the people and wildlife who call the Refuge home. We need your help to stop it!4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Peter Stocker

Utah: Drop the Charges for Saving Lily the PigletFollowing an investigation of a Smithfield farm and the rescue of an underweight piglet named Lily that garnered massive media attention, five activists with Direct Action Everywhere are facing felony charges of sixty years in prison. The FBI obtained cellphone records to gather evidence against the activists and even sent armed agents to local sanctuaries to search for the piglet. This tremendous effort to repress whistleblowers -at the cost of American tax dollars- shows how Big Ag and its government allies are terrified of the public seeing the truth. We are asking Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes to prosecute animal abuse on factory farms like Smithfield's instead of targeting the investigators who expose the truth. Whistleblowers who expose animal abuse should be protected, not prosecuted.34,515 of 35,000 SignaturesCreated by Cassie

Good job Hilton! Now please take the next step for our environment.Hilton has made good strides to eliminate one-time-use plastics and styrofoam, which are detrimental to the health of our planet and are filling up our oceans. Now it's time for them to take another step and lead the way in the hotel industry by replacing small, one-time-use plastic containers for items such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. with large permanent dispensers that can be refilled, cutting down on the amount of plastic waste in the world.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elizabeth Schauer

California does not want coal energyAssemblymember Chris Holden's bill AB 813 failed last year, but now he's trying again to jeopardize California's clean energy future by pushing us into a regional grid with coal-producing states. California already has access to out-of-state electricity. We don't need to surrender control of our energy system.200 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Alan Weiner

Make Colorado Green AgainI moved to Colorado because of its excellent reputation for being a progressive and forward - thinking place. I have since learned that it's one of the dirtier places I have ever lived, competing with New York and Chicago for the crush of unwashed garbage littering the streets. I would like recycling services to be made available in every public space where resources are consumed, and required in HOA's and Tenancy agreements as a utility option state-wide. Colorado is already very friendly towards green energy and has a lot to offer any newcomer, but around 10,000 people move here each week and each person generates an average of 4lbs of garbage per day. There are already over a million people here. Places that don't offer recycling services such as living complexes, shopping centers, and corporate offices should be held accountable for the garbage they generate that could have been recycled, and everyone should be given the o choice to help save our planet.32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William O'Doubhlain
