Assemblymember Chris Holden's bill AB 813 failed last year, but now he's trying again to jeopardize California's clean energy future by pushing us into a regional grid with coal-producing states. California already has access to out-of-state electricity. We don't need to surrender control of our energy system.

I moved to Colorado because of its excellent reputation for being a progressive and forward - thinking place. I have since learned that it's one of the dirtier places I have ever lived, competing with New York and Chicago for the crush of unwashed garbage littering the streets. I would like recycling services to be made available in every public space where resources are consumed, and required in HOA's and Tenancy agreements as a utility option state-wide. Colorado is already very friendly towards green energy and has a lot to offer any newcomer, but around 10,000 people move here each week and each person generates an average of 4lbs of garbage per day. There are already over a million people here. Places that don't offer recycling services such as living complexes, shopping centers, and corporate offices should be held accountable for the garbage they generate that could have been recycled, and everyone should be given the o choice to help save our planet.

Mayor Kenney has pledged to meet 100% of the City government’s energy needs with renewable sources by 2030. We want that clean energy to be generated locally so our air and water quality will improve and long-term economic development and jobs for Philadelphia residents will result. To make it real, the City should adopt our Solar Justice Program: long term renewable energy power purchase agreements; enforcing Economic Opportunity Plans to meet minority and union condition hiring goals; building solar generation on city-owned properties to meet at least 30% of city government energy needs by 2020; and enlisting other large institutions in Philadelphia to do the same.

The Army Corps of Engineers & the Chicago Department of Transportation want to build a toxic dump in the 10th Ward. The proposed site will contain lead, manganese, CBD's, coal tar and other toxic materials. The Southeast Side currently has 8 landfills. It is not the dumping ground for the city of Chicago! We do not want this in our community.

Not only would the proposed reservoir encroach on an already undersized community park; it would also likely create an attractive nuisance with the potential for injury, accidents and liability. Following our conservation, I spoke with our Public Works staff and have concluded there are no engineering options that sufficiently address the concerns you and your neighbors shared with me over the past couple weeks. I want to thank you and the Carriages of Grosse Pointe neighborhood for your outreach. In the future, I have asked staff from LCPW, the Village of Vernon Hills and the Park District to engage me in these types of conversations earlier in the planning process as we could have headed this off as an unworkable option much sooner. Pebble Mine would be disastrous for both Bristol Bay and the communities its waters support. The mine would pollute the water and air and could even wipe out the wild salmon population that is central to the local economy. But instead of considering those impacts fully, the Army Corps is trying to rush through the permitting process. We can’t let that happen.

Recently a construction site nearby added a trash can in front of a porta potty they set up on the street. The trash can is constantly full and it shows the need for public trash cans to be located across the neighborhood not just on the main streets like Broadway and Columbia Road/Day Blvd.
