• Save Ocean City, MD and Fenwick Island, DE: construct all wind turbines at least 26 nautical mile...
The Mayor of Ocean City, the Ocean City County Council, and most of us are in favor of green energy. However, when initiating a green project some common sense needs to be in place. The turbines initially proposed for Ocean City were 3 mega- watt units. They were 200’ tall from the water line to the hub with a 300’ blade diameter. The overall height from the waterline to the tip of the blade was therefore approximately 350’   The currently proposed turbines are 8 megawatt units, they are 370’ tall from the water line to the hub with a 550’ blade diameter. The overall height from the waterline to the tip of the blade is therefore approximately 650’ - the height of the Washington Monument and more than twice the height of the tallest building in Ocean City. When a change of this magnitude is encountered, it is not unreasonable to expect the distance from shore would increase to ensure that the turbines will not be seen from the shore. These projects are being subsidized by Maryland electric consumers through a special fee added to your electric bill.  The current proposed field off the Maryland coast consists of 86 turbines constructed in 3 phases and extends the entire length of Ocean City, from the inlet to the Delaware line. Phase 1 is located 17 miles offshore, phase 2 is 15 miles offshore and phase 3 is 13 miles offshore. The current field off Delaware supported by the Maryland subsidy consists of 15 turbines. The location starts just north of the Town of Fenwick and runs to the indian river bridge. It is located approximately 19 miles from Ocean City. There are plans to construct 50-60 additional turbines in the northern portion of the Delaware lease area but these would not be subsidized by Maryland utility customers. There are many businesses that depend on the ocean view and there are many people who value the unadulterated, untainted view of the horizon, of the sunrises that the ocean shoreline bestows. The ocean has been there long before we walked this earth. It is one of the few untouched views that are left in this world. It would be a grave mistake to take that pure, unsullied view away for the sake of 20 years of “clean” energy. We should fight to keep our visual environment CLEAN as well. We can have the wind turbines and the view with a mere ten mile east movement of the turbines.   We the taxpayers are subsidizing the turbines that will cause the destruction of a view that is unparalleled and now it is time to stand up and demand that we, the people, are heard! We do not want to see the wind turbines. U.S.Wind and Skipjack make your millions, but put the turbines OUT of our sight. They can be green and also NOT seen!

  • Farm Animals Cry Too
Animals are being abused by genetic scientists. Not only are the animals suffering, but by consuming these genetically engineered animals you are subject to unknown viruses and illness-causing toxins. There is at least $3 million being put into these gruesome experiments, where is it coming from? No company or person has claimed to donate this money, the question lingers in my mind, "Could this be our money, used without our permission?" Our animals are in pain, we are in pain, our planet is in pain. Change is a ripple effect, someone has to throw the first rock. Be a part of the ripple.

  • Tell the Department of the Interior: Don't let Trump destroy Grand Staircase-Escalante!
Donald Trump is trying to hand over Grand Staircase-Escalante to the coal industry. He is planning to destroy the beautiful Kaiparowits Plateau -- which makes up much of the monument -- by mining. The Department of the Interior is seeking public input on this plan. But you only have until April 13th to speak up!

  • Tell the Senate: Don't put a coal lobbyist in charge of our environmental protections!
Donald Trump has nominated a coal industry lobbyist named Andrew Wheeler to fill the number two spot at the Environmental Protection Agency. With EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt mired in scandal and fighting for his job, Wheeler could be next in line to take over the EPA. That makes it all the more important that we stop his nomination.

  • Arlington Heights: Safe Disposal of Toxic Chemicals
***When you sign this petition, you will receive an automatic form email from me***I believe that we need to step up at the local level. This means taking initiative and expanding green practices. The key to environmentally friendly practices is accessibility and the Illinois system for poison recycling is not. It’s illegal to throw away poisons, as it should be, but our government is not giving citizens an easy way to make the right choice. As a result, toxic poisons end up in our landfills and eventually our water supply. Arlington Heights is a member community of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County(SWANCC), but this relationship is neither well known or convenient for citizens. If the Arlington Heights government could sponsor an affordable cost-wise collection plan that is accessible, it will prevent poisonous chemicals from seeping into our water supply. Please voice your support for this project and spread the word.

  • Stop Nestlé from taking our water
With California facing drought years it doesn't make sense to let Nestlé take our water and sell it back to us at a huge profit. We shouldn't be drinking bottled water anyway. Those plastic bottles pollute.

  • Hold Pepsi-Co Accountable for Palm Oil Usage!
I have been doing research into the Palm Oil industry as a project for my Anthropology class, Living Primates. Upon conducting research, I found that Pepsi-Co uses the most amount of Palm Oil in the food and beverage industry. Pepsi-Co owns Frito-Lay, and I want to petition the usage of Palm Oil. I propose the use of Sunflower or Coconut Oil, or the development of an industrial-sized air fryer.

  • Congress: Save Birds From Wind Turbines
I and other people interested in renewable energy are concerned and dismayed by the number of flying creatures being harmed or killed by wind turbines. In order for this form of renewable energy to be truly environmentally sound, we must protect these creatures!

  • We demand City Council move Chico to 100% Fossil Free by or before 2040.
We the people of Chico have experienced a recent five-year drought, extreme temperature rises, increased intensity of winds and wildfires while many of our state and local representatives are climate deniers. We are making a way for marginalized citizens who will suffer the most from devastating climate crises; youth, ill and disabled, elderly, women, indigenous people and people of color and low-income people. We need to make a fast and just transition to 100% renewable energy by or before 2040. We cannot afford any more climate and science-denying non-representation.
