• Cuomo, first you must walk your talk on climate!
This petition is directed at Governor Cuomo as motivation for him to walk his talk on climate, and to highlight the hypocrisy of his "call to arms".

  • Ban Shark Fin Imports in Miami
Shark finning is the grisly act of catching a shark, cutting off its fins, and throwing it back in the water to drown, all to make fake medicines and soup that are actually bad for humans. While 12 states have banned such imports, ironically Florida, a state more reliant on the health of our oceans than most, has chosen not to. Being publicly known as the shark fin capital of the US not only damages our ecosystem but also our reputation and in turn, our local economy. Please tell Francis Suarez, Mayor of Miami, and our state legislature to formally ban all shark finning and shark fin imports.

This is a companion petition to an organizational sign-on letter the Better Path Coalition will deliver to Governor Wolf just after the beginning of the summer tourism season on Memorial Day. We will ask visitors of parks and state forests affected by shale gas development to sign this petition on the 4th of July and deliver it shortly thereafter. The petition language is excerpted from the sign-on letter. To read the full letter, visit bit.ly/WolfTourismLetter. If your organization would like to sign the letter, visit bit.ly/SignTourismLetter.

  • City Of Duluth: We need to talk about the Husky Energy Explosion
On April 27th at the Husky Energy Refinery in Superior, a series of explosions and fires put the citizens of Superior and surrounding communities at great risk of being exposed to toxic substances, including the possibility of releasing a stored fluoride chemical into the atmosphere in a high enough volume that it could kill over 100,000 people, according to estimates by scientists. In the wake of this event, the Mayors of Duluth and Superior called for the discontinuation of the use of Fluoride at that facility. I am hoping this petition can help inspire our elected officials and our community as a whole to use resources to have a real conversation about the dangers posed to our community by fossil fuel infrastructures such as pipelines and refineries.

  • California: Make GMO Labeling Required
I would like required labeling for all products so that I know what I am consuming as well as what I am supporting with my purchases. I would like to see all ingredients (including fertilizers, etc.) so that we may compare the difference between organic and conventional produce.

  • Fight Environmental Racism
This petition is about bringing environmental change while helping stop the unethical attack of industry on communities of color. As an Environmental Student also interest in Human Rights Abuse, I have created this petition to urge Congress to make greater efforts in stopping not only environmental abuse but environmental abuse specifically targeted at Non-White Hispanic communities, a blatant human rights abuse. -Climate Change effects low income and communities of color disproportionately greater than that of non-white Hispanic communities. - hazardous waste sites and industrial facilities are located more frequently in communities of color -children of color are more likely to be affected by lead poisoning Articles Cited Where you can also learn more... https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/race/news/2016/04/25/136361/5-things-to-know-about-communities-of-color-and-environmental-justice/ http://nationalhumanitiescenter.org/tserve/nattrans/ntuseland/essays/envjust.htm

  • Ethics Committee: Dismiss Scott Pruitt as EPA Director
Mr Pruitt has shown complete dismissal and arrogance in the job he has accepted in representing ALL of the citizens of our country, not just special interest factions. He is directly impacting my personal right, as well as EVERY PERSON IN THE USA who is concerned about their personal health and welfare. He has crossed 'the line in the sand'.

  • Lake Erie's Shoreline Belongs to Nature and to the Community
We live beside one of the Great Lakes, but we are separated from it for historic reasons which we should counteract for the good of the lake, the public, and the natural world we inhabit.

  • More Recycling Bins on USC Campus
We feel strongly that USC should set an example of what proper recycling hygiene looks like. It starts with appropriate infrastructure, and we can build up from there with new, creative innovations and solutions.

  • No Compressor Station
Spectra Energy / Enbridge plans to build a 7,700-horsepower Fracked-Gas Compressor Station adjacent to the brand new Fore River Bridge in North Weymouth. The Weymouth Compressor Station would be built in the most densely populated location ever in the United States. Compressors are usually built in rural areas given their environmental, health, and safety risks. Compressors pose a serious health risk, especially when in such close proximity to a dense residential area. This proposed compressor station will create noise, pollution and odor problems that will affect residents in surrounding areas and all along the South Shore. There is also a history of catastrophic accidents at similar compressors that could paralyze traffic, devastate our waterfront, and put residents at very serious risk. There is no public vote and limited public input in this process, so it is important for everyone to join the ongoing opposition to ensure that our voices are heard. Join us as we ask our Local, State, and Federal governments and regulatory agencies to put a stop to this foolish and dangerous idea.

  • Demand that pulp & paper giant APP keep its promises
I have recently learned of APP’s links to PT BRS in Bangka Belitung and of APP’s intention to bring the company on as a supplier. I am calling on APP to implement its policies and respect the rights and demands of the people of Bangka Belitung who have rejected pulp and paper plantations on their traditionally owned land.
