• Stop reckless new plans for coastal oil and gas drilling
The U.S. Department of Interior announced they would open up nearly all United States waters to offshore oil drilling. Most parts of the outer continental shelf would be opened–rolling back existing protections, putting these sensitive marine environments and the species that live in them at risk of death or injury. Sea otters, orca whales, leatherback sea turtles, and dozens more marine mammals, reptiles, birds, and fish already subject to threats from deadly fishing nets and ocean pollution could be put in extreme peril under Secretary Zinke's plan. Tell Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke that you do not support reckless oil and gas drilling and that he should focus his energy and time on finding clean, renewable energy sources and safeguarding our nation's wildlife and wild places.

  • Mr. Wolf: Join the United States Climate Alliance!
I am starting this petition because I care about my planet. As such, I believe that, in light of Trump's ignorance, the states need to take the initiative and lower GHG emissions.

  • Save our planet: Stop global warming.
The earth is the place where we all live, and we are destroying it. With things like not taking buses because we like being in our own car, to even eating too many cows, we are creating a thing called global warming that is slowly taking apart our planet. President Donald Trump and most of our leaders do not believe in global warming, but let me tell you something, it is real, and it is destroying our home. I live in Aspen Colorado, and we have had the second worst snowfall in history. Because of global warming. You may think that global warming is warming of the planet, but it is not just that, it is extreme weather. Why else do you think our people are being devastated by a colossal number of hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, and more? I want us to stop cutting down so many trees. I mean, the trees and plants that we are chopping down give our oxygen. That will be the first step, then we can go farther. Sign this petition, share it with others, and help me save our planet.

  • Ban Single Use Plastic Bags In Michigan
The Great Lakes are an important part of Michigan, providing water, food, and is a crucial part of the ecosystem for many plants and wildlife. Every year 22 million pounds of plastic end up in the Great Lakes, damaging our water ways and ecosystems, hurting animals, plants and people. We need to start doing our part to protect the lakes and everything they are apart of by cutting down the use of plastic in our state, which starts with the banning of single use plastic bags so that we can cut down the amount of plastic that ends up in the lakes.

  • Protect Community Choice Energy in California!
The California Public Utilities Commission is trying to slow down or stop Community Choice Energy programs across the state. CCE programs enable communities to provide energy for homes and businesses that is cleaner and cheaper than the existing utilities. CCE programs are already operating successfully in ten counties in California. By the end of 2018, eighteen CCEs will be serving customers, and 16 other jurisdictions are in the process of forming programs. Soon Community Choice will provide more than half the electrical load in the state. But now the PUC is rushing to put a two-year freeze on new Community Choice programs with Resolution E-4907. The CPUC knows what it’s doing is wrong. They are trying to sneak through the resolution, without public hearing, at the height of the holiday season, hoping no one is looking — but they’ve been caught by alert Community Choice advocates. Sign our petition to demand that the CPUC scrap this dangerous resolution before midnight on Wednesday, January 10th.

  • Bring back NY State NYSERDA Solar Thermal Rebates
It is not possible to meet the NY 2030 Renewable Energy Goals unless all technologies are supported, including Solar Thermal. However, NY is leaning now towards supporting primarily just Heat Pump technology to meet the renewable thermal targets of the current program. NY must not incentivize just one of many green technologies in the attempt to meet the 2030 goals.

  • Safety for all on the Cross Florida Greenway
The State of Florida has recently completed paving of almost all of the Marjorie Harris Cross Florida Greenway, opening this green space to road cyclists and racers. For decades, the Greenway has been a natural green space shared by mountain bikes, hikers and equestrians, with little effect on the environment. Now there will be a huge influx of cyclists, including large groups, racers, and some family riders. However, the safety of the hikers and equestrians is at risk. Let's raise our voices and request signage to be put on the paved trails, requesting the cyclist use slow speed at all natural trail crossings and bridges and tunnels. IE: Slow: Pedestrian and Horse Crossing.

  • Save Graniteville Tree Swamp
Graniteville swamp is one of the last freshwater wetlands on Staten Island, but it is facing destruction to put yet another big retailer in our community. The swamp acts as a natural barrier to flooding and clears pollutants from the SI Expressway. We have more than enough stores to choose from in our neighborhood, and we don't want this project to ruin our air quality, lower our property, and put our lives and homes in danger! Please support us and sign our petition.

  • Save Midway Beach
The existence of Midway Beach in South Seaside Park NJ is being threatened by the ill considered and unnecessary dune project underway by the Army Corp of Engineers. Midway Beach is the only community on Barnegat Island that was not affected by Superstorm Sandy due to our treasured massive dunes. We don't need YOUR DUNES.

  • Tell Candidates for Illinois Governor to Divest From Fossil Fuels
On November 29th, the Chicago Sun-Times reported on billionaire J.B. Pritzker and millionaire Chris Kennedy’s myriad investments in fossil fuels. Furthermore, candidate Pritzker maintains a partnership interest in Energy Transfer Partners LP, the builder, operator and part-owner of the Dakota Access Pipeline. J.B. Pritzker owning a financial interest in Energy Transfer Partners LP is particularly disturbing given the widely publicized abuse of Native American Water Protectors by Energy Transfer private security forces at Standing Rock! The Dakota Access Pipeline project has sparked protests, hundreds of arrests and still faces a legal challenge. In January, President Trump signed an executive order to advance the pipeline. Construction had been delayed amid protests due to opposition from Native Americans concerning tribal sacred ground and fears of oil spills contaminating tribal drinking water. The pipeline carries crude underground from the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota, through South Dakota and Iowa to an oil tank farm near Patoka, IL, passing beside or under major rivers and waterways. Climate scientists agree society must move beyond fossil fuels for electricity, transportation and heating. Moreover, an ever-increasing number of economists and business professionals assert a shift from oil, coal and gas to renewable energy sources is not only necessary to prevent climatic disaster, but is economically advantageous as well. The state of Illinois should not stand on the sidelines as the world, including nearly 7500 cities and local governments, race toward a renewable future. Now is the time for Illinoisans to act! Now is the time to limit climate change and the resultant catastrophic weather events on the health and welfare of Illinoisans! PLAN OF ACTION: We plan to deliver this petition to all Illinois gubernatorial candidates at least one month prior to the Illinois Primary on March 20, 2018. Additionally, we will ask each candidate to sign a pledge to divest from fossil fuels and abstain from investing in oil, coal and gas assets in the future.
