• It's Time for Trade Policies that Work for Everyone
When it comes to the future of the global economy, you've been shut out. When American negotiators decide what matters during trade agreements, they consult with big corporations, not the American public. These corporations are using these secret negotiations to make an end run around Congress so that they can ship even more jobs overseas, devastate the environment, drive up health care costs and repeal critical consumer protections on Wall Street. They've shut all of us out of the negotiating room, but that doesn't mean we won’t be heard. Our trade agreements should lift us up, not drag us down in a race to the bottom. Our trade agreements should put high standards for wages and working conditions, environmental and consumer protection first instead of trying to maximize corporate profits and power. Sign this petition today to let your members of Congress know that it's time for 21st century global trade policies that work for everyone.

  • International Peace Treaty ending Soldier Warfare
[Need for recipient's emails; governments, militias and law enforcement agencies worldwide] Definitions ‘true hate’- No Acceptable Circumstances. Military Action – The act of legislating or ordering troops to be put on ground in combat or law enforcement. Consensus – Decision making by agreement or wide majorities. Nuclear Weapons – Weapons deriving their energy from nuclear fission or fusion Chemical Weapons – Weapons deriving their energy from; or combusting upon its victims, chemical explosives or agents. Classified Weapons – Weapons classified by this treaty. Military Rule – Government rule by public or private militaries; or dictatorships with totalitarian rule. Democratic Constitutional Conventions – A communally delegated convention to build a public constitution; and federal and federate governments. Petition for Ending War and Creating a Peace Treaty Internationally. Under what circumstance should there be any war legislated by a powerful regime? Innocent soldiers should not have to spend their lives just because an elected leader legislated for it. People have been killing eachother for centuries and blowing eachother up for decades, so must we continue on until military equipment is so advanced that millions of lives can end by one button push? Oh shit.. that can already happen, so it is only a matter of time until some monocratic dictator somewhere in the world gets mad and decides to try to rage nuclear war. Since wars are usually started over problems made by people in power, the powerful should have to solve it themselves rather than send thousands of other people to get killed over various political issues. We would hope that governments would have learned better from the US’ experience of nuking other countries, hopefully. If not, such a travesty will happen again eventually. If measures are taken to build peace around the world, namely this treaty being put to action to end warfare, human progress has been made and we are evolving. The general argument against a world peace movement is “it will never happen, so just accept it because it is human nature and people are violent.” With that ideology nothing good will ever happen for anybody accept those who are violent so should we conserve such nonsense from the past? It literally makes no sense not to publish, sign this petition and require lawmakers to sign this as a treaty or revise it under a wide consensus. People have been saying “that will never happen so just accept it the way it is” for basically every social movement. Do you think the American Revolution was such an easy and given thing? The Military of Great Britain at the time was the most powerful, so the common thought was likely that no one could ever secede from that kind of ridiculous power as the movement was coming to fruition. There are many other possible ways for these politicians to solve problems with other country’s politicians rather than letting thousands of people; who don’t deserve to die, die from both sides in the name of serving their country. The only time a country’s military should be used is in an act of defense; if their country is being invaded or to fight domestic tyranny. If this petition becomes law, countries can no longer declare soldier warfare and leaders who try to, or suggest legislating soldier warfare, shall be punished and/or fight their own battles. It should be one’s freedom to choose if they would like to serve their country with their life because it is their life; not the governments, and they can serve their country in their own way. When a person serves their country with their life, they are only dying. No one is gaining anything from the deaths of soldiers accept maybe the powerful in the modern day. We are told warfare and large military complex’s keeps our country secure, but not many countries are a true security threat anyway, so why continue to die in the name of corrupt governments? Do we want humanity to remain a violent species forever? But of course.. there are extremist groups who still may not agree to a peace treaty, and if not, will the world ever see peace?

  • UNHCR-Egypt: Reopen Emergency Cases
I have lived, studied, and worked in Egypt for over a year in 2007-2008, and 2010, specifically focusing on community-based self-education efforts in African refugee communities. This is how I met Abdel Rahman. Abdel Rahman is originally from Darfur, and has been living in Cairo, Egypt for about a decade, suffering the agonies of life as an African refugee. On Sunday March 23rd, Abdel Rahman was brutally assaulted at night in Cairo, and represents the countless many who face such challenges on a daily basis. He is currently re-opening his file with the UNHCR-Cairo office, and seeks immediate relocation out of Egypt. In 1951, Egypt made reservations to refugee rights chartered by the UNHCR Refugee Convention, also known as the Geneva Convention, effectively disallowing refugees the right to access public relief and humanitarian assistance. Most of Egypt's refugees are hopelessly unemployed, and in dire need of educational, and professional opportunities, especially those further marginalized by race, ethnicity, and religion, as is the case with African refugees in Cairo, Egypt.

  • Press The Red Light: Encourage Peaceful Resolution in Ukraine
Time is of the essence, and our goal is to send this petition to the United Nations. It is the job of the United States citizens to encourage its leaders to not engage in actions that will destabilize International Rule of Law, or violate adherence to aovereign integrity as outlined in resolution A/Res/25/2526 of the United Nations, put into effect on 24 October 1970. We want to see a peaceful resolution in Ukraine, and To See Peace between Russia and Ukraine. Please Adhere to the Geneva Agreement of 17 April 2014. Also, we want our Leaders and Secretary of State Department to Concentrate Economic policies that reflect the United States citizens desire to foster friendly relations with other countries, and also we want our leaders, senators and representatives to concentrate on the Domestic Issues at Home. Do not put our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers, mothers, aunts and uncles to engage in anymore foreign conflicts. We need to concentrate on using our newly found oil wealth wisely and for the benefit of American Citizens.

  • Congress: Don’t Let CIA Send Anti-Aircraft Weapons to Syria
On March 28, AP and other media reported that under pressure from Saudi Arabia, the U.S. was considering allowing shipments of shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles, or “manpads,” to Syrian rebels. (1) These dangerous weapons can be used to shoot down civilian aircraft. While U.S. officials previously ruled out the transfer of manpads to Syria, a senior U.S. official said “it was being considered anew,” AP reported. On March 31, a State Department spokeswoman said that there had been no change in the U.S. position, and that the U.S. had not discussed the issue with Saudi Arabia. (2) Unfortunately, when it comes to CIA “covert” actions, U.S. officials sometimes publicly deny things that they are in fact doing or thinking of doing. And once these actions start, they are very difficult to stop. If President Obama were to approve the supply of manpads to Syrian rebels, he would violate several international antiterrorism agreements that prohibit the supply of manpads to non-state actors. This would put air travelers at risk and destroy the international anti-terrorism norm against supplying manpads to non-state actors. In the past, weapons transferred to “moderate rebels” in Syria have wound up in the hands of Al Qaeda-types. (3) Urge Congress and President Obama to oppose the transfer of manpads to Syria by signing our petition. 1. “Saudi Arabia: Obama seeks to ease backlash over Syria: US president said to be considering sending air defence systems to Syrian rebels following discussion with King Abdullah,” Associated Press/The Guardian, March 28 2014, http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/mar/29/obama-king-abdullah-saudi-arabia-air-defence 2. • Congress: Require Public Reporting on Drone Strikes
There's been a huge discrepancy between what the government has publicly said about who has been killed by U.S. drone strikes - in particular, how many civilians have been killed - and the record of independent reporting. Because of the secrecy of the program, there's been little accountability for this discrepancy. Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Walter Jones (R-NC) have now introduced legislation (1) – the Targeted Lethal Force Transparency Act – to require an annual report on the number of combatants and civilians killed or injured annually by U.S. drone strikes. The requirement is retroactive for five years. It also requires that the report include the definitions of combatants and civilian noncombatants used. This bill would increase the transparency and accountability of drone strikes, a goal that has been endorsed by President Obama, CIA Director Brennan, and others in the intelligence community. (2) The Targeted Lethal Force Transparency Act has been endorsed by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. (3) Urge your Representative, your Senators, and President Obama to support this legislation by signing our petition.
