Without a U.N. Mandate, we would be wrong, in firing upon Syria. First, get the U.N. Mandate , secondly, Congressional approval, then proceed from that point. Be absolutely sure, that the Assad administration, used those chemical weapons and not the rebels . Some of those rebels, are not saints either. The Metamorphosis Project, strongly protest , going about it, any other way.

We face an urgent situation where once again the US is about to attack a country that has not attacked us, but most assuredly will retaliate against any military action we take. Chemical weapons are an abomination, but it is far from clear that military action will have any positive effects to help the Syrian people. Attacking Syria to "maintain our credibility" in the words of one presidential candidate I remember in 2008 is a "dumb war".

The purpose if this petition is to make our government realize that they need to start behaving in a civilized manner. They are setting a horrible example by abusing the power they have and squandering the resources available to them. For my entire life, I have watched as my country bounces from one war/conflict/invasion to the next. I feel like I have never known a time of peace. I also realize that in spite of that, I have been lucky. Anyone trying to live in any of these War Zones, has experienced horrors that I can not even comprehend. This is wrong on so many levels, I do not even know where to begin. War is a barbaric thing of the past, and it is time that we treat it as such. The United States of America is one of, if not the Greatest Powers on Earth. With that great power comes great responsibility. We should be leading by example. We must be the change that this world needs. We must practice Peace instead of War.

The President has called upon Congress to approve attacking Syria to prolong and escalate the war there. The Congress has imposed harsh sanctions upon Iran, just as they did for a decade before invading Iraq. War doesn't solve problems. Killing people only escalates the suffering. It is time to try a compassionate, humanitarian approach.

I would hate for a war to start because of an eagerness to be world police when we should be handing that power to the UN, as it is supposed to be. We can provide assistance to the UN, but action is not worth starting a chain of events like the ones that led to the last two world wars. We should rebuild America before creating or entangling ourselves in more conflicts.

Assad regime used chemical attack because the crime and brutality are the essence and spirit of his regime which he inherited from his dead father and who both ruled the country with motto " I rule you OR I'll kill you"

To mobilize Jews and Muslim American to help the Syrian people in their current strangle against their dictator . and to show solidarity that wouldn't see. Else where. This alliance can open the eyes Of the Israelis and the Palestinians rulers and make them think about sustainable solution for their children, and to show the world that perseverance always almost achieves result.

There are still unanswered questions about chemical weapons in Syria. It is assumed the upper echelon of the Assad government supported these gas attacks. If we don't know, we risk more than we gain in the region and the world's stage. Our abhorrence of the gas attack emotionally clouds a further search for truth before more death and misery is warranted.

I am disappointed that President Obama seems to be repeating the mistakes of former President Bush. I voted for President Obama because I believed it was time for a change in our foreign policy from bluster to bolster, from aggression to assertion, from waging indiscriminate wars to fighting for peace and I thought this was a change President Obama believed in. I want to remind him that people still do believe in the necessity of that kind of change. And he needs reminding quickly--BEFORE American weapons are used against the people of Syria.

The US Economy demands attention from the Obama administration. Escalating our military presence in the Middle East will not make Americans safer, nor will benefit our economy. Americans deserve sincere attention to make them safer, and support a realistic opportunity to earn a living wage. Consistent commitment to military action in the Middle East in the guise of National Security is going to make the US less safe and bankrupt our country.

According to news reports, President Obama is poised to send air strikes to Syria. This type of action will neither protect nor defend the population. The U.S. public does not support military intervention.
