Help Diplomacy Work on IranNuclear weapons in the hands of the mad mullahs ruling Iran are the civilized world's worst nightmare. The deal negotiated by the P5+1 crosses all red lines and represents a failure of diplomacy. The only chance for diplomacy to work is for Congress to reject this deal and for the P5+1 to start over and stick with the red lines put forth by President Obama at the beginning.41 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alan Stein

En USA Mi Voto CuentaDear friend: Puerto Rico (PR) is experiencing one of the worst crisis in many years. When we objectively evaluate the reason, the consensus is that the root of our problems is the lack of resolution of our status. Since 1898, PR belongs to the United States of America (US); since 1917, those who are born in this blessed Island are American citizens; and in 1952 we enacted our Constitution, which did not change our colonial or territorial status. I am proud to be an American citizen but resent my Island's relationship with the US. How many more years must go by without our soldiers, who go into battle risking their lives alongside their comrades soldiers residents of the 50 states, can vote for their "Commander in Chief"? How many more laws will be enacted in US Congress without Puerto Rico having a congressional representation with the right to vote to support or object them because of their impact on our daily lives? For how much longer we have to resign ourselves to be the first in line for cuts to federal funds and the last at the time of the distribution? All this because we are a colony; because based on our status, under the Territorial Clause of the US Constitution, Congress can discriminate against the 3.5 million of American citizens who live here. Because at the moment you don't live in the Island, this letter is addressed to you. Although I know that many have left PR by choice, during my visits as a candidate to become the first female Resident Commissioner in Washington, DC, I come across too many mothers who share their pain because their children have had to leave with the hope of finding better opportunities in one of the 50 states. Whether it was by choice or because you felt you didn't have any other option, I know you still love your Island and want the best for it. I know you're convinced that the discrimination must end NOW; we deserve EQUALITY. Unfortunately, our present situation leads too many to think that PR is no longer the Island of Enchantment; that instead of being Puerto Rico, it should be called "Puerto Pobre". This has to change NOW; it is time to act. The solution of PR's status is a matter that requires the support of those who live on the Island and those who like you, for living in one of the 50 states, have the right to vote for the President of US and a congressional delegation with the right to vote. And because of that power that you have and I don't, I ask of you to take a few moments of your time to electronically sign the enclosed petition. The same will be sent to the White House, to your congressional representatives and to the candidates for those positions. As you can see, in the same you demand from those with the duty to represent you to stop ignoring the issue; that it is time that the solution of PR's status becomes a priority for them, to be proven with action and not words. I'm counting on your support for this initiative; together we'll be stronger and I know that the political power that you have, because EnUSAMiVotoCuenta, will be decisive in achieving the goal of resolving PR's status and, finally, achieve the EQUALITY that we deserve. NYT: Don’t Help Iran Deal Critics Swiftboat J StreetOn July 23, the New York Times published an op-ed by Shmuel Rosner, political editor at The Jewish Journal and a senior fellow at The Jewish People Policy Institute, which claimed that “There are American organizations (such as J Street) that support goals that barely any Israeli agrees with, that nevertheless flaunt the pro-Israel label.” [1] No explanation was given of what these goals are, nor was any evidence given that “barely any Israeli” agrees with these goals. The New York Times fact-checks its op-eds; indeed, they fact-check letters to the editor. People are not allowed to say whatever they want in the New York Times, even in an opinion piece. If Rosner was talking about J Street’s support for the Iran nuclear deal, which seems like the most plausible explanation given the context, his claim was both outrageous on its face and deeply misleading. Senior members of Israel’s national security establishment have spoken in favor of the deal. [2] Moreover, the majority of American Jews back the deal. [3] So if Rosner’s standard for “pro-Israel” is opposition to the Iran nuclear deal, then according to Rosner’s standard, the majority of American Jews would not be “pro-Israel,” which shows that this standard would be absurd. Urge the New York Times editors to examine why this unsubstantiated and misleading attack on J Street was allowed, and to pledge not to allow such unsubstantiated and misleading attacks on J Street in the future, by signing our petition. President Obama please refrain from repeatedly defaming Iran as anti-Semite and terroristDear President Obama--yet again during your most recent interview with Jon Stewart (July 2015) you repeated your accusation that Iranians are both terrorist and anti-Semitic--and of all people he (Jon Stewart) did not utter a word in protest. At 6:19 minute you say, sir, "with respect to Iran, look, this is an adversary. They are anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-Semitic, they sponsor terrorist organization like Hezballah." You were even counting with your right hand finger when counting these Iranian vices. Mr President: Iran is a country of almost 80 million human beings, perhaps the most pro-American country in the entire region, and the most ancient home for millions of Jews from antiquity to the present --they are dancing with joy in the streets because of the nuclear accord--sporting T-shirts with I Love USA and American flag-- If in order to appease the Israeli lobby you wish to accuse the ruling state in Iran of any and all atrocities that is your choice--but the pronoun "they" in your sentence, sir, refers to all Iranians-- If indeed you think this entire nation is what you told Jon Stewart they are then why you send them those Nowruz messages every year and quote their beloved and globally celebrated poets like Sa'di, sir? Are they decent people with a rich and tolerant culture or are they those things you counted with your right hand fingers? We ask you please to refrain from repeatedly defaming Iran (an entire nation) and calling them anti-Semite and terrorist--it is unseemly--of all people from you Sir.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Golbarg Bashi

.@FaceTheNation: Admit Obama never promised limitless inspections in IranWhen Face the Nation’s John Dickerson interviewed Secretary of State John Kerry and Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz about the Iran nuclear Deal, Dickerson brought up Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s complaint that the deal didn’t allow immediate no-notice inspections anywhere in Iran. Dickerson asked Kerry, “What happened, Mr. Secretary, with anytime, anywhere?” implying that comments of deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes were tantamount to a promise of limitless inspections in Iran. In fact, as Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting points out, [1] Rhodes said the deal would grant inspectors “anywhere, anytime 24/7 access as it relates to the nuclear facilities that Iran has”, not wherever the U.S. might want to look. The deal ensures constant monitoring of Iran’s nuclear program while allowing Iran to protect its legitimate state secrets. Jon Schwarz, writing for the Intercept, [2] notes that when the U.S. last had limitless inspections access in 1990s Iraq, they “routinely abuse[d] the weapons inspections process in order to uncover such legitimate secrets—and use them to target the Iraqi military and try to overthrow the Iraqi government.” Tell Face the Nation to acknowledge the Obama Administration’s actual promises of nuclear monitoring and reasonable Iranian interests in not accepting inspections anywhere without notice by signing our petition. Please vote to approve the agreement with IranI have a daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren who reside in Israel. I also have a strong attachment to that land because of my Jewish heritage. I believe that this agreement will further promote peace in that region, even though it does not assure peace because of so many other factors at play. I can only hope that this agreement will spur the further action by the U.N. and world powers to bring about a fair and just peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Thank you.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Laurence Mass
