Warmonger Schumer Wrong Choice to Keynote Democratic DinnerMinnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party – the Minnesota arm of the national Democratic Party – has recently announced its intention to invite New York Senator Chuck Schumer to be the keynote speaker at the 10th Annual DFL Founders Day Dinner. [1] This announcement by the Minnesota DFL could not come at a worse time for supporters of the nuclear agreement with Iran. Schumer is the most prominent Congressional Democrat opposing the deal. [2] Only one other Senate Democrat has come out against the deal – indicted New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez. If just four Senate Democrats follow Schumer’s example, Senate Republicans will likely have the votes they need to send a rejection of the Iran accord to President Obama, forcing the President to use a politically embarrassing veto and undermining the credibility of any future President to negotiate war-preventing diplomatic accords in the future. By inviting Schumer to keynote their dinner, Minnesota Democrats are signaling that Schumer’s actions to undercut diplomacy are ok with them, that undermining the Democratic President when he negotiates an international accord to prevent war is ok with them. This isn’t just bad for the Iran deal; it’s bad for future efforts to prevent war by using diplomacy. Urge Minnesota’s Democratic leaders in Congress to press the DFL leadership to re-consider their invitation to Schumer by signing our petition. Tell these Democrats to Get Off the Fence and Support the Iran DealThe United States, Iran and five other world powers announced an historic deal to dramatically curb Iran's nuclear program in exchange for easing international sanctions on Iran. It’s a great agreement for the United States, but Republicans are already trying to sabotage it and put us back on the path to confrontation and war with Iran. You know the Republicans' answer to everything is more boots on the ground — putting ever more Americans in harm's way. That’s why we need to speak out right now and urge Democrats to support diplomacy. Some Democratic US Senators have not made a decision on the deal yet. Tell these Democrats: It's time to get off the fence. Don’t help Republicans sabotage the Iran agreement and risk another war. The truth is, Republicans don’t want diplomacy to work. Just as they did in Iraq, the only thing they know is pouring more gasoline on the fire, instead of trying to put the fire out. We can’t let them start another war. President Obama will veto any legislation that would blow up this agreement. Sadly, however, some Democrats in Congress have shown a willingness to back Republicans’ efforts to sabotage diplomacy. We need Democrats on record to stand with the President, to beat back any efforts to blow up diplomacy. Tell Democrats: It's time to get off the fence. Don’t help Republicans sabotage the Iran agreement and risk another war.685 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Michael Morrill

No Iran Deal Opponents in Dem AdministrationMore Democrats are stepping up to support the Iran nuclear deal. [1] But Sens. Cory Booker and Mark Warner, who may be considered for vice president, are not yet counted as yes. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders support the Iran deal, and Martin O’Malley has offered cautious praise. They should pledge not to pick running mates who oppose it. [2] They should also pledge not to appoint Iran deal opponents to confirmation-level positions; and Senate Democrats should pledge to oppose Senate confirmation for Iran deal opponents. Some Senate Democrats like Chuck Schumer and Robert Menendez have already joined Republicans in pushing for war. Ron Wyden, who has been good on Iran diplomacy in the past [3] and bad in the past [4], is now counted by the Washington Post as “leaning no” on the Iran deal. [5] Democrats fear that Gary Peters’ chief of staff may push him to oppose the deal. [6] Alan Grayson, who is running for Senate in Florida, is counted by The Hill as “leaning no,” while Tammy Duckworth, who is running for Senate in Illinois, is counted as “unclear/undecided.” [7] Urge Democratic Presidential candidates and Senate Democrats to draw a line in the sand against Iran deal opponents by signing our petition. Diplomacy v. WarOne of our fellow petitioners have presented this same issue to Congress, unfortunately we need higher officials on our side. We need our voices to be heard. We, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, do not want to endure another War. This will lead to another World War which will kill millions. Outside of the picture of Barack Obama agreeing to this war, do you agree? Help us speak up for what is right. This petition is for the concerned Americans who want our country to stop falling down the hole. Stand with me and all of the others. You are much appreciated.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Nakia Flowers

Ron Wyden: Support the Iran agreementThe U.S., Iran, and the international community have reached a historic agreement to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Republicans are trying to kill the agreement in Congress, doing the bidding of pro-war special interest groups. But Republicans can’t kill the agreement and put us on a path to war without Democratic help. If most Congressional Democrats stand with President Obama and diplomacy, diplomacy will win and the Republican warmongers will lose. Right now, Oregon Senator Ron Wyden is the only Senate Democrat listed by the Washington Post as “leaning no” on the Iran deal. [1] Wyden has been bad on this issue in the past and good on this issue in the past. In early 2013, Wyden was an original co-sponsor of the AIPAC-Graham "Back Door to War" bill that said that the U.S. should support any Israeli military attack on Iran. [2] But in December 2013, Wyden signed the letter of 10 Democratic committee chairs against the AIPAC-Menendez push for new sanctions that would have undermined the talks with Iran. [3] The fact that Wyden has been bad on Iran diplomacy in the past and good in the past, and that he is “leaning no” now on the Iran deal but not opposed, suggests that strong engagement now by people in Oregon can bring Wyden back to the side of good. Urge Wyden to support the deal by signing and sharing our petition. Rodney Davis & John Shimkus: Support the Iran agreementThe U.S., Iran, and the international community have reached a historic agreement to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Unfortunately, so far Republicans like Rodney Davis and John Shimkus are bowing to pressure from pro-war special interest groups committed to undermining diplomacy, and are trying to block the agreement in Congress. Urge Davis and Shimkus to support the deal by signing our petition. UPDATE: (Monday, August 24): On Wednesday, August 26, there is a national day of action to press Congress to support the deal. Tell Tammy Duckworth: Support the Iran Deal! The anticipated Congressional votes on the Iran nuclear agreement are all about Democrats. If Democrats stick together in support of diplomacy, there’s no way Republicans can derail the agreement. Illinois Rep. Tammy Duckworth has not yet taken a clear stand. This concerns all Illinois Democrats, because Duckworth is running for the Senate seat currently held by Mark Kirk, and there is a contested Democratic primary. Democratic primary voters across Illinois will have a say in whether Duckworth is the Democratic nominee. It also concerns Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, because he is Rep. Duckworth's chief political patron. He could use his influence to help get Duckworth off the dime. We’ll be delivering this petition on August 19 to Rep. Duckworth’s staff during their “satellite office hours” at the Addison Public Library. Please sign and circulate our petition to all your Illinois friends so we can make a decisive impression on Rep. Duckworth.812 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Robert Naiman

We call on Arizona's Congressional Delegation to Support the Iran DealWhen President Obama announced that the U.S., Iran, and the international community had reached an historic agreement to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, it gave hope that we were on a path to ending decades of hostility. Unfortunately, war hawks are lobbying Congress, undermining diplomacy. Several members of the Arizona Congressional Delegation are either 'undecided' or actively opposed to a diplomatic reduction in Iran's nuclear program. Over the next 60 days, we're going to have to campaign hard to make sure Arizona's Senators and Congressional Representatives don't squander this opportunity. Now that President Obama has shown that diplomacy can work, we need to show that the American people stand with him and will do everything in their power to give this agreement a chance to succeed and become a model for resolving other conflicts. But with opponents of diplomacy going all out to stop this, we have to be out there right away, visibly and loudly. By signing this petition, you are letting Arizona's Congressional Delegation know that you want them to support the Iran deal, and oppose a needless escalation to another Middle-East war.638 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Edgar Schrock
