Give FIU Early Voting on CampusWhen it comes to voting, partisan politics should not matter. FIU students and faculty should be able to vote at a convenient location on campus. Other universities across the state will have early voting on their campuses, but FIU has been left out. We are asking Mayor Gimenez, Miami-Dade election officials, and FIU to work together to let our FIU community vote on campus.104 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Sabrina Priestley and Andres Solarzano

Abolish the Puerto Rico Federal Oversight Management BoardMy country, Puerto Rico, is been governed by an anti-democratic Federal Oversight Management Board, imposed by the Federal Government, which is taking our people to a deeper economic depression due to their insane political measures. We need to abolish this law and the Board asap or otherwise our people will face the worst human catastrophe ever, including massive migration to the US states, which will put bigger burdens over their governmental services. As a retired Full Professor of the University of Puerto Rico, all of us are facing the obligatory reduction of our pensions. This will make us live under the poverty level of the US.61 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dr. Ramon Nenadich

Yellowstone Landmarks Should Not Be Named After Men Who Incited GenocideNative American tribes from the United States and Canada are demanding that famous landmarks in Yellowstone National Park not be used to honor men who supported the "extermination of American Indians." In Yellowstone National Park, Mount Doane is named after a man who led the massacre of nearly 200 Piikani people on a Montana river bank and Hayden Valley was named after a man who called for the "extermination of American Indians." Leaders of the Blackfoot Confederacy and Great Sioux Nation are demanding that Mount Doane and Hayden Valley be renamed to "First Peoples Mountain" and "Buffalo Nations Valley." This fall, the U.S. Board On Geographic Names will decide whether or not to rename these famous landmarks. Please sign our petition and stand with the tribal leaders demanding justice for their people.4,709 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

Emergency Response and Preparedness Money Should Not Be Used to Detain FamiliesDocuments recently obtained by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) revealed that the Trump Administration moved $10 million from FEMA, the agency tasked with protecting us from and preparing us for disasters like hurricanes, to Trump and Jeff Sessions’ detention and deportation efforts. The purpose of FEMA is to reduce the loss of life and property in emergency situation. How FEMA spends its money is often a matter of life and death. This is especially true during hurricane season — and especially true right now, as Hurricane Florence bears down on the East Coast. Overall, $169 million has been taken from the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, the U.S. Coast Guard, the TSA, and others so that ICE has millions of dollars more to carry out an extremist agenda of tearing apart families, detaining children, and instilling fear and trauma on those who seek the American Dream. Using funds from FEMA and other agencies for cruel political pet projects like family detention and deportation is not only inhumane, it’s dangerous. Tell the Trump Administration to stop separating families and give this money back!1,847 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

Investigate the Trump AdministrationThe American people expect and deserve the highest level of accountability from their public officials -- especially the President of the United States. That's why the recent New York Times op-ed written anonymously by a senior staff member of the Trump administration is so alarming. The piece claims that the President demonstrates “erratic behavior,” “impulsiveness,” and “instability” -- and that to mitigate the effects of his recklessness, unelected officials are secretly working behind Trump's back to hinder his agenda. If Trump’s unappointed advisors are in effect running the nation, as the New York Times op-ed alleges, we must conduct a full investigation and get accountability. Our constitution has mechanisms to remove a president who is unable to fulfill the oath of office -- and unelected anonymous people making executive decisions is not sustainable. These allegations could threaten our national security, undermine our credibility, and cause significant harm to many Americans and people around the globe. Not only do they paint the President as incapable of fulfilling the oath of office -- but they also suggest that an unidentifiable network of staffers is making big decisions for our nation without any systems of accountability. Congress must live up to its oversight responsibilities and immediately investigate the claims made by the anonymous official.2,161 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Common Cause

Don't Mess With Our Vote (Florida)Today, in this historic momen,t we must show politicians and elected officials our collective power. Together we are putting them on notice; that we will not allow the coordinated attacks on our voting rights to continue. We oppose efforts to cheat the system and suppress our votes, such as limiting voting registration, the purging of millions of eligible voters, and the inadequate response to election security. These attacks disproportionately silence the voices of black, brown, working-class, and under-served communities. This will not be tolerated. This November, largely as a result of these voter suppression efforts, it is predicted that more than 26 million young people, women, and people of color will not turn out to vote. We need these 26 million voices to be heard. We need ALL of our voices to be heard. Let’s prove them wrong. We will be collecting signatures on this petition until September 30th. In October the signatures will be delivered to Governor Rick Scott, Secretary of State Ken Detzner, and Florida Election Officials.20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Aimee Pohl
