At only 37 years old, Justin Walker would sit on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals for decades to come. As a partisan operative, Justin Walker helped lead the lobbying campaign for Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. He lauded Kavanaugh for providing a 'roadmap' to overturn the Affordable Care Act. And he made well over 100 media appearances to praise and defend Kavanaugh between June and October 2018. The influential D.C. Circuit decides important cases that impact our lives. From civil rights protections to issues of national security, some of the most significant issues of our time hinge on the decisions of the D.C. Circuit. Only a few short months ago, Walker was nominated and confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky despite his far-right record and the American Bar Association's determination that he was unqualified for the position because of his embarrassing lack of trial and litigation experience. Now, just months later, McConnell is fast-tracking Walker to the powerful D.C. Circuit because of their close relationship. Trump and McConnell's attempt to pack the courts with lifetime appointees who are unqualified to serve people in America may restart as early as next week. We cannot allow the American judicial system to descend even further into this partisan politicking. Of Trump's 56 appellate nominations, none are African American. Only one is Latinx. And just 11 are women. His district court nominees are similarly nondiverse. Walker's nomination only worsens Trump’s record on judicial diversity. Tell your senators to reject Justin Walker.

The Department of Health’s Emergency Order 20-002 (renewed by Emergency Order 20-004), ONLY allows controlled substance prescribing practitioners, to issue RENEWAL prescriptions for Schedule II–IV controlled substances via telehealth, for existing patients being treated for chronic non-malignant pain. The current options for practitioners in Florida for prescribing controlled substances via telehealth are extremely limited and are forcing these patients to facet-to-face visits, which defeats the purpose of keeping patients at home. As of March 16, 2020, and continuing for as long as the COVID-19 public health emergency remains in effect, DEA-registered practitioners in all areas of the United States may issue prescriptions for all schedule II-V controlled substances to patients for whom they have not conducted an in-person medical evaluation, provided all of the following conditions are met: • The prescription is issued for a legitimate medical purpose by a practitioner acting in the usual course of his/her professional practice; • The telemedicine communication is conducted using an audio-visual, real-time, two-way interactive communication system; and • The practitioner is acting in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws. The following are some common examples where licensed physicians in an office setting who practice in other states are able to follow the DEA’s policy and prescribe controlled substances via telehealth, but Florida physicians are not able to do so: 1. Refill of a prescription for a controlled substance for a patient transferred from another physician. 2. Refill of a prescription for a controlled substance for an existing patient being treated for a purpose other than chronic non-malignant pain. 3. Issue a new prescription for a controlled substance for an existing patient. 4. Change the dosage of an existing prescription for a controlled substance for an existing patient. 5. Issue a prescription for a controlled substance for a new patient. We recommend the Florida DOH considers adopting the DEA’s policy in an Emergency Order. The charter change will change the employment status of the City Attorney from reporting to Mayor and Council to reporting to the City Manager, affect the Council’s ability to effectively pass policy via ordinances without involvement of the Mayor, and gives the Mayor universal veto power. The American economy has taking a huge hit with unemployment skyrocketing over March and April 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the numbers will continue to rise. We are witnessing a domino effect of massive job loss. Businesses close, then the taxpayers have no income to report to the IRS and no taxes to be paid. Of course no income means a steep decline in the agriculture industry, food processing, banking, and mortgage industries just to name a few. Our tax dollars are what makes this economy rise or fall. It is the government's spending of this money which determines what programs are funded or not, and what is considered valuable. Well, now it is time for our government to show its appreciation to loyal American taxpayers by helping us through one of the most financial difficulties in current times. Way too often, large companies such as banks receive MILLIONS OF TAXPAYER MONEY so they will not collapse even though CEO's receive million dollar bonuses and the company makes millions in profits. The government is EAGER to provide them with tax breaks and trillion dollar relief funds at American taxpayer expense. Millions of American taxpayers are working making under $30,000 a year, many more are working 2 jobs, such as teachers, just to somewhat survive. The cost of rent, utilities, food, gas, etc., continues to grow except incomes. A basic income of $2000 a month for American taxpayers age 18 and older and $500 a month for children would give a great start in boosting the economy. Once this financial difficulty has lifted, the economy won't take as long to recover.
