• Tell Rep. Stephen Knight (R-CA) to stand with Dreamers in His District and Pass the Dream Act
If we want to ensure that Dreamers are kept safe from Donald Trump’s Deportation Force, then Congress must pass the Dream Act. Today, there are nearly 800,000 young immigrants who came to the United States as children and currently have no immigration status. They’re often referred to as Dreamers because the Dream Act would give them a pathway to citizenship. In 2012, President Obama used his executive power to protect Dreamers from deportation and allowed them to work and drive legally in the United States. Since then Dreamers have thrived under DACA, by going to school and contributing back to their local communities and economy. However, several officials within the Trump Administration have indicated that they intend on ending the DACA program - killing the dreams of hundreds of thousands of Dreamers who grew up only knowing America as their home and putting them on a path to deportation. Even Trump’s top immigration official even told Hispanic leaders in Congress to prepare for the worst in regards to DACA. The 2017 Dream Act would allow Dreamers to stay in the United States and apply for citizenship. That’s why we’re calling on Congress to pass the Dream Act. Please join with us and sign this petition.

  • Sign the petition: Reject and denounce any pardon of Sheriff Arpaio
Trump led a horrifying, racist rally in Arizona—where he defended convicted criminal (and former Sheriff) Joe Arpaio for “doing his job.” Arpaio was convicted for violating a federal judge’s order to stop racially profiling Latinx communities and terrorizing undocumented immigrants. This is not "doing his job." The White House has allegedly prepared talking points on Trump’s soon-to-come presidential pardon of Arpaio. Trump’s plan to pardon Arpaio is a blatant demonstration of white supremacy and will only further harm families by endorsing policies that terrorize Latinx communities. Further, by pardoning Arpaio, Trump also says it’s okay to violate court orders. Only 21% of Arizonans support pardoning Arpaio. If the state’s Republican governor and two senators don’t publicly denounce Trump’s bigotry and reject this pardon, they are siding with the racists in their state. Sign our petition now to urge Arizona Governor Ducey and Senators McCain and Flake to publicly oppose Trump’s plan to pardon Joe Arpaio.

  • Sign the petition: No wall on the U.S.-Mexico border
Donald Trump ran for President by whipping up racist hysteria against immigrants—pledging to build a wall and somehow make Mexico pay for it. (Spoiler alert: Mexico won't pay for it.) He is still trying to waste billions of federal dollars to build a 2,000-mile wall, and is even threatening a government shutdown if the Republican Congress does not agree to fund it. Sign the petition: No wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. It's racist, ineffective and a colossal waste of money.

  • No Pardon for Joe Arpaio
Trump suggested he may pardon Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, the Arizona sheriff just convicted of criminal contempt for violating a court order on racial profiling. A pardon of Arpaio wouldn't just be a confirmation of Trump's bigotry and contempt for the rule of law. It would also be an affront to Americans everywhere who believe in justice and civil liberties. Arpaio is scheduled to be sentenced on October 5th. We need to raise our voices now. Add your name to demand Arpaio face justice.

  • Don't discriminate against the women who raise America!
They may not have huge bank accounts or fancy degrees, but many immigrants do the priceless work of caring for our country's children -- and supporting the elderly and people with disabilities. We value them and their contributions highly and believe they are crucial to our lives, our economy, and our communities. The RAISE Act says these women and this work is not important. What could be more important than raising the next generation?

  • We want to keep Everett a safe and welcoming city for everyone!
ESPANOL ABAJO We ask the City of Everett to keep its people safe. We ask that the City pass an ordinance as part of its commitment to enforce the law and serve the public without consideration of immigration status. Under our proposed ordinance, no one in the City should be contacted, detained, or arrested by any Everett law enforcement agency based on immigration status, whether known or unknown. Only then will all residents feel safe going to the police and city agencies to report crimes, seek help, and collaborate together to keep Everett the city that it is. Many of us have lived here for decades and are proud to call the city home. Some of us are students -- and parents of students -- at Everett High School who are scared that we are going to be stopped by the police at the end of our school day and asked for papers. We have kids in our families who are waiting at home, anxious that us, their parents, might not come home that night. Everett has been ranked the most diverse city in Massachusetts. We don’t want half of the Everett community fearful of the very City and people who should be here to serve us. We all deserve to know that the City of Everett and the Everett Police do not stand with separating parents from their kids or stopping people in the streets because of their skin color and language. Everyone deserves to know that we, the residents and friends of the City of Everett, will not tolerate their persecution.

  • Tell Congress: Oppose the RAISE Act
Republican Senators David Perdue and Tom Cotton have introduced legislation that viciously attacks our family-based legal immigration system. Backed by President Trump, the RAISE Act aims to cut legal immigration of extended family members by half – in addition to slashing the number of refugees we accept and eliminating the diversity visa lottery. This is an extremist proposal that would prevent families from reuniting and go against our nation’s core values. Stand with National Immigration Law Center and urge Congress to vote against the RAISE Act.

  • No taxes for border wall
The House of Representatives has voted on a spending bill that includes $1.6 billion for initial construction of the wall. This is only a downpayment on the wall, which is estimated to cost over $20 billion. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has made it clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall, and the idea of using a border tax on imports from Mexico is dead. In short, American taxpayers will foot the bill. Instead of wasting our money and grandstanding on this issue, the government should enforce and maybe bolster the existing laws against hiring undocumented workers. This would not only cut down on people crossing the border illegally to seek employment, it would also cut down on people who overstay their visas, which a report found represented 66% of undocumented residents. Separately, the government should work on a guest worker program, so farmers and other business who rely on the undocumented workforce can find the employees they need without resorting to illegal activity.

  • Petition in Opposition to 287g Program in Alamance County, NC / Peticion en Oposición a el Progra...
*Este mensaje se repite en Español Alamance County Sheriff's Office Dear Sheriff Johnson, We, community members of Alamance County and allies of the immigrant community, respectfully request that you not bring back to our county the 287g agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It is especially important that Alamance County does not bring back 287g agreement which put our county in the national spotlight for its poor implementation, civil rights violations and decreased trust that immigrants in Alamance County, and surrounding areas, have in law enforcement. Like other programs, agreements and policies that forge a collaboration between ICE and local law enforcement, the 287g program funnels immigrants into a detention and deportation system that does not afford due process rights, and ultimately tears families apart, leaving our communities weaker and more fearful of interacting with local law enforcement. The 287g program costs money, damages public safety, and increases the risks of racial profiling. The 287g program diverts officers from their local work to do ICE’s job for them. Numerous reports and studies have shown the negative human and legal impacts of implementing 287g [1]. Moreover, 287g is not mandatory: only 78 law enforcement agencies in the entire country and 5 in North Carolina have 287g agreements for their officers to act as immigration agents. The Maricopa County, AZ program, run by Sheriff Joseph Arpaio, was the largest 287g jurisdiction until it was terminated following a federal investigation into racial profiling and discrimination. The county of Alamance is home to many immigrants and 287g hurts the trust from immigrant community members. When some of our neighbors are reluctant to communicate with local law enforcement, even when they are victims or witnesses to crime, everyone is our community is less safe. We respectfully request that you do not bring back Alamance County's agreement with ICE.
