• Tell Trump: Reverse changes to the green card process!
Roughly one million people become green card holders every year, and about 500,000 of them apply while living in the U.S. These are people deeply embedded in their communities, sometimes living with family members who are U.S. citizens, and contributing to the economy through work and taxes.  Trump and the USCIS have offered very few details about who will be directly impacted by these changes, sharing only vague language that some people who have an “economic benefit or otherwise are in the national interest” might be allowed to remain in the U.S.  But experts are already concerned about how these exceptions might lead to even more discrimination, especially for immigrants from countries on Trump's “travel ban” list—like Brazil, Colombia, and Thailand—who cannot seek consular services in their home countries.  This policy is already causing mass confusion among immigrants and their lawyers. The UCIS should reverse these unnecessary changes NOW and allow green card applicants to continue residing in the U.S.

  • Tell FIFA: Protect World Cup fans and stadium workers from ICE!
ICE leadership has refused to rule out its presence during the World Cup, calling ICE a “key part” of tournament security. Workers and vendors in host cities like Los Angeles are speaking out about fear of being profiled, detained, or losing the income their families rely on if ICE is present at World Cup events. Human rights organizations are urging FIFA to demand an “ICE truce” during the games because of growing fears that immigrant communities, workers, and visitors could face harassment or detention. The Trump administration has refused to rule out ICE’s presence during the World Cup, calling ICE a “key part” of tournament security planning. Experts are already concerned about the treatment visitors to the World Cup would face in the U.S.—especially for people traveling from countries that the Trump administration has treated with open contempt. Countries including Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, and Canada have issued travel advisories about the possibility of being detained by the Department of Homeland Security in the U. S. and have warned transgender people about the State Department’s change in policy regarding gender markers on passports.  If FIFA truly believes in the unifying spirit of the World Cup and its promise that “football is for everyone”, then it must act now to guarantee the safety and dignity of the millions of people who will attend, work, and participate in the World Cup.  If FIFA truly believes in the unifying spirit of the World Cup and its promise that “football is for everyone”, then it must act now to guarantee the safety and dignity of the millions of people who will attend, work, and participate in the World Cup.  Add your name telling the leadership of FIFA to put the safety of visitors, workers, and athletes first!

  • Tell Congress: Reject tens of billions for ICE violence and Trump’s ballroom
“I don't think about Americans’ financial situation,” Trump recently told reporters. He didn’t need to tell us because his budget requests say everything we need to know: Right now, Congress is dangerously close to passing a bill that would pour $70 billion more taxpayer dollars into ICE and CBP at Trump’s behest, supercharging the machinery of detention, deportation, and mass surveillance. Think that’s outrageous? Wait until you hear Republicans have also slipped another $1 BILLION into the bill for Trump’s White House ballroom. It’s an unconscionable use of our resources. But thanks to tireless advocacy from movement partners and activists like you, Democrats held the line against more funding for ICE and CBP. That’s why Republican leadership is working to jam this bill through on a party-line vote. But it won’t be easy — their party is already fracturing, and House Speaker Mike Johnson can only afford to lose two votes. Together, we can show lawmakers how badly this will backfire and help block this outrageous funding bill. Let’s remind everyone on Capitol Hill that we resoundingly reject billions for ICE violence and lavish ballrooms while people struggle.

  • Justice for Renee Good: Remove Jonathan Ross from duty!
You do not get to kill someone and get away with it. While Renee’s family and community are forced to deal with the fallout and live with the trauma, Jonathan Ross continues to live his life and keep collecting a government paycheck funding by the taxpayers. Allowing him to continue working for ICE sends a message that immigration agents can act recklessly and with impunity and get away with it. This message puts all of us and our communities in grave danger.  We must send the message that you don’t get to harm our communities and face zero consequences. Jonathan Ross must be held accountable and removed from duty now.

  • ICE Accountability: Justice for Carlos Mendoza
Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez, loving fiancé and devoted father to a little girl, was shot seven times by ICE agents in Patterson, California. The FBI and DHS have access to multiple angles of video footage, but they won’t release it to us. The DHS accused him of being a violent gang member, but then retracted the statements once they were questioned about it. Carlos was released directly from the ICU to the FBI, and he has been transferred between five detention facilities and has not received proper medical treatment. He is unable to eat because he was shot in the mouth, the gunshot wound on his arm almost got infected, and they have only been giving him painkillers. He is now being charged with weaponizing his vehicle to hurt ICE officers, when in reality, he was just trying to get away from the agents who were shooting at him. They tried to kill him and it didn’t work, so now they’re punishing him. Carlos and his family desperately need YOUR help.

  • Block the construction of a new detention center in San Antonio!
Nearly 12% of the population of San Antonio are immigrants. They are our friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors. And we need to defend them against Trump’s brute and unlawful deportation agenda.  The details of the proposed San Antonio detention site are still unclear. ICE confirmed they purchased land and a facility but have not given details beyond that. What we do know is that the deed for a 640,000-square-foot industrial warehouse with a 1,500-bed capacity has been transferred to the federal government.  Local elected officials claim to be equally in the dark about the plans, with a city spokesperson claiming they have not received any assessments for the site, and that the city was not informed of any federal estate transactions.  Local leaders have already sounded the alarm on ICE and DHS’s rapid power grab. Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert has been outspoken against the project, and the San Antonio City Council approved a resolution in February to identify what the city can do to push back against ICE.  We need to keep up public pressure to make it clear that we expect them to keep using every lever in their power to interfere, delay, and block the development of a detention camp in San Antonio, and that we demand transparency and accountability for any civil or human rights violations by ICE and DHS. We cannot allow ICE and the Trump administration to keep expanding their inhumane deportations. Sign the petition to say NO warehouses for detention centers in San Antonio.

  • Block the construction of a new detention center in Surprise!
The federal government is spending $313 million to convert a warehouse in Surprise, Arizona, into a mega ICE detention facility. The 400,000-square-foot building is set to be among the larger ICE facilities, detaining up to 1,500 people. Warehouses are for packages, not people, and every single person in our state must speak out against this dehumanizing construction.  GardaWorld Federal is the company contracted to oversee the conversion—the same company running the disastrous detention camp in the Everglades, “Alligator Alcatraz.” The Everglades detention camp is a dangerous facility where immigrants have gone missing, and experts have sounded the alarm on everything from deadly diseases, hazardous flooding, and human rights abuses.  We can’t allow GardaWorld Federal and DHS to replicate the inhumane and immoral camp in our own backyard. We need local elected officials to use every lever in their power to interfere, delay, and block the development of a detention camp in Surprise, Arizona.

  • Make April 10th Dolores Huerta Day
Dolores Huerta is a towering figure in American labor and civil rights history and has been a relentless champion for the rights of farm workers. She played a pivotal role in labor protests throughout the 60s and 70s, including the Delano Grape Strike, a protest of more than 2 million Mexican and Filipino farm workers who fought against exploitation. She co-founded the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) an organization that eventually became what is known today as United Farm Workers (UFW). She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award, the Hispanic Heritage Award, the Puffin/Nation Prize for Creative Citizenship, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She also coined the iconic motto, "Sí se puede," a phrase now synonymous with workers' rights, civil rights, and immigration reform, that across the world is recognized as a call to action and a reminder that the impossible is possible. As March 31st is currently a federally recognized holiday known as Cesar Chavez Day, recent investigations allege that Cesar Chavez engaged in sexual abuse of minors Ana Murguía and Debra Rojas, in addition to Dolores Huerta herself. While Cesar Chavez has been widely recognized as the face of the farm workers' movement, Dolores Huerta's essential role as a co-founder, lead negotiator, and strategist to the movement has frequently been overshadowed in historical narratives. We should address the harm done, honor the survivors, and recognize the leader who Dolores Huerta continues to be today by honoring her monumental efforts which have bent the arc of history towards justice. This petition calls for the following legislation: • The creation of a federal holiday called Dolores Huerta Day on the civil rights leader's birthday, April 10th • To rescind the federally recognized holiday Cesar Chavez Day on March 31st • For all federal buildings and national sites named after Cesar Chavez to be renamed after either Dolores Huerta or to otherwise recognize other leaders of the farmworkers' movement, such as labor leader and NFWA co-founder, Gilbert Padilla. Such sites include but are not limited to: • Cesar E. Chavez National Monument (Keene, CA) • Cesar E. Chavez Memorial Building (Denver, CO) • National Chavez Center (Keene, CA) Tell Congress to do the right thing and recognize the lifetime achievements of a Chicana who dedicated her entire life to the advancement of farm workers and civil rights across this country. ¡Sí se puede!

  • Demand for Closure of ICE Facility at South Reach Road
As the Lead Organizer for this initiative, I am submitting this document to formally request that the Williamsport City Council and the City of Williamsport Codes Department take immediate administrative, legal, and legislative action to facilitate the closure of this facility. While we acknowledge previous statements regarding the "short-term" nature of this site, the undersigned community members remain concerned about: • Community Stability: The impact of a federal enforcement hub on our local business district. • Mission Creep: The potential for this site to transition into long-term detention or a regional transit hub. • Resource Allocation: The need for total transparency regarding the use of local emergency services and personnel. Specifically, we are requesting that the Board: 1. Introduce a formal resolution opposing the facility’s continued operation. 2. Conduct a formal review of zoning and occupancy permits. 3. Cease all discretionary cooperation between County departments and this federal facility. 4. Confirm that no county-funded resources are being utilized for federal housing or busing operations. We request that this petition be entered into the public record and that a formal response be provided to the organizers regarding the actions the Williamsport City Council and the City of Williamsport Codes Department intends to take.

  • NO warehouses for ICE detention centers!
The Department of Homeland Security has a disturbing history of creating unsafe conditions for people being detained. Last summer, hundreds of people faced potential diseases from swarms of mosquitoes, dangerous flooding conditions, and limited access to water while detained at the inhumane Everglades Detention Camp, also known as “Alligator Alcatraz.”  Public opposition to these expanded detention centers is only continuing to grow. This is the time to speak out and demand an END to this ruthless campaign against our neighbors. That means:  • Congress must pass legislation to empower city and state elected leaders to oppose ICE taking over warehouses in their communities. • State and local officials must explore every avenue, from legislation to zoning laws to putting pressure on developers, in order to prevent the sale of warehouses to DHS and ICE. • Residents in neighborhoods with proposed sites must speak out and put pressure on local government to stop projects. We cannot allow ICE and the Trump administration to keep expanding its inhumane deportations. Sign the petition to say NO warehouses for detention centers!

  • The Original Citizens Jurisdiction and Protection Act
The Original Citizens Jurisdiction and Protection Act is a proposed federal law designed to clarify jurisdictional authority and prevent the unlawful detention of Native American citizens by federal immigration enforcement agencies the bill affirms tribal sovereignty recognizes Native Americans as U.S. citizens and establishes clear procedures when immigration agents encounter native individuals in the course of their duties The issue at hand:  Native American citizens are increasingly subject to improper stops detentions and transfers by US Customs and Border protection and immigration customs enforcement these incidents stem from jurisdictional confusion, racial profiling, and a failure to recognize tribal citizenship in sovereignty. Native Americans - who are citizens of the United States and members of sovereign nations have been detained in immigration facilities despite having no immigration status issues and there is currently no federal statute that explicitly limits immigration enforcement authority in these situations or establishes a required handoff to appropriate criminal jurisdiction.
