"A nation of immigrants"The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is a non-political federal agency that grants visas and U.S. citizenship to eligible immigrants. This week, it removed the phrase “nation of immigrants” from its mission statement with no specific explanation. This is a step backwards as to who we are as a nation. Words matter and have power. Our country was built by immigrants and continues to excel because of all the contributions they make each and every day. Make no mistake. The removal of these three words is part of President Trump’s anti-immigrant and xenophobic agenda. Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and the rest of his Administration are using their authority to circumvent Congress whenever possible and make clear that immigrants are no longer welcome in the United States. This goes against our history and our heritage. Immigrants enrich our nation, which is why we must do everything in our power to ensure they are still welcomed into our communities, states, and country. We cannot allow the Trump Administration and USCIS to erode our American values. Please sign this petition demanding that USCIS add “nation of immigrants” back to its mission statement.2,547 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

Don't Fund Trump's Deportation Machine!Join us in demanding your representative and senators #DefundHate by publicly calling for significant cuts to the detention and deportation machine and opposing any funding bill which wastes taxpayer dollars on this unaccountable and abusive system. Right now, Congress is making decisions about funding for the rest of this fiscal year, and they're considering massive increases in funding for new ICE and Border Patrol agents to terrorize our communities—an immigration detention system known for its abuse and mismanagement, and wasteful and dangerous border militarization, including the border wall. Congress has failed to pass permanent protections for immigrant youth, TPS-holders, or many other members of our communities. ICE and CBP under the Trump Administration have put the detention and deportation machine on steroids, continue to ramp up aggressive and hateful raids and other immigration enforcement, hide information from the American public, and retaliate against anyone who speaks out. With this track record, it's clear that Congress should be looking at cuts in funding, not huge increases! Congress must take steps now to cut funding that rips families apart and and instead invest in programs proven to support communities growing and thriving together like housing, education, nutrition, and health care.68,105 of 75,000 SignaturesCreated by Mary Small

Free Ravi RagbirRavi Ragbir is an immigrant, a New Yorker, and an activist—who has been ordered to report for deportation on Saturday, February 10. This is only one of many examples of ICE targeting immigrant activists and leaders in a concerted effort to disrupt the movement for immigrant rights and respect and to intimidate other immigrants from speaking up. And, sadly, Ravi's is only one of countless stories of families and communities being torn apart by the Trump deportation machine. Ravi has contributed to his community in New York, is a civic leader, and has the support of elected officials and his own community. He has complied with all of his check-ins and the rules governing his status in the United States. He deserves to continue to be an active participant in his community in New York. ICE should cancel his deportation proceedings immediately—and similarly cease its aggressive actions against the countless immigrants whose homes, families, jobs, communities, employees, students, and hearts are here in American.997 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Dena Fisher

Keep ICE out of Hilton, La Quinta, Motel 6, and Wyndam hotelsMotel 6—which is controlled by the CEO of the Blackstone Group, one of Donald Trump's biggest supporters—is suspected of calling ICE to report undocumented guests. As the owner of Motel 6 and several other national hotel chains, Blackstone Group must ensure this disturbing practice is not being used against hotel guests anywhere. Employees at two Motel 6 locations in Arizona, where more than 20 arrests by ICE have been made in recent months, confirmed rumors, telling local media: "We send a report every morning to ICE -- all the names of everybody that comes in." Let that sink in for a minute. Motel 6 is literally taking money from immigrant customers, and then calling immigration agents to come round them up, jail them, and deport them if they can find a reason. This is unacceptable. Adding insult to injury, Motel 6 has released a statement claiming this was an isolated incident and the practice "was discontinued." That's it. No change in policies, no employees disciplined, no increased oversight. We can't let Motel 6 get away with these anti-immigrant practices. Demand that Blackstone Group ensures none of their hotels are cooperating with ICE. Together we can show callous companies and CEO's that they are not above basic decency.4,224 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Van Le

Give Dreamer Edder Sanchez his day in court!Edder Rizo Sanchez, a young immigrant in South Carolina, was detained on November 12, 2017 despite having DACA. Edder has been in detention ever since. After detaining Edder, ICE called United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to have his DACA revoked on November 17, 2017. The fact that ICE is working in collaboration with USCIS is unacceptable. Because of ICE’s collaboration with USCIS, Edder is away from his family in a detention camp. Leticia (Edders mother) has been heartbroken but has hope that Edder will come home to her. They have called this country home since Edder was three years old. Edder has been a pillar of support for his family and losing him to deportation would be devastating. This has been the first time Leticia and Edder have been separated. Now their dreams have been placed on hold. Help Leticia bring Edder home where he belongs.455 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Greisa Martinez

Help Jorge Castañeda come home!Jorge has a story like so many immigrant stories: one filled with hard work, strong ties to his community, and love for his family. He has cooperated with the government, paid taxes, and has no criminal record. We have been hearing stories like Jorge's over and over again. This must stop. When immigrants arrive as children, attend our schools, and grow up as an American, they should be allowed, when adults, to make the decision to stay or return. It should be their choice! This is humanitarian. His wife and children have always lived in the US and him leaving would be extremely difficult for them emotionally and financially. We ask that you help them to stay together.420 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Veronica Carbajal

STOP DEPORTATION. KEEP DECO NAIL'S ALIVEThe beloved owners of Deco-Nail’s who we have come to know as “Kris and Tony”, have two children, one 15 and the younger 5. Both do not speak Korean or Chinese, nor do they understand the culture. These two innocent children would be left alone in the United States with no relatives or loved ones, while their parents are deported on Feb 16. Please help us keep this family together and continue living their American dream.8,047 of 9,000 SignaturesCreated by Laurie Kane

Sign the petition: Families and communities are being ripped apart by ICEThe Trump administration has ramped up its cruel and dangerous deportation agenda—giving more power to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to terrorize communities and families. ICE agents are stalking schools, churches, and even detaining spouses of U.S. citizens as they apply for green cards. And ICE has recently targeted leaders working to secure right for undocumented Americans, with several organizers arrested in recent days. Just recently: *In Maryland, two high school students, Lizandro and Diego Claros, were deported. Their community, their coaches, their classmates, and their family are absolutely devastated. *In Kansas, Syed Jamal—a chemistry professor who has been in the US for more than 30 years—was detained for deportation by ICE for visa infringements that were at the sole discretion of individual agents. His family and community in Kansas rallied behind him and he earned global media attention. He was recently granted a stay and will be returned, but he is just one example of Donald Trump's ICE ramping up deportations of pretty much anyone they want to. *Michigan man Jorge Garcia—who had lived in the U.S. for 30 years since he was 10 years old, cooperated with the government, paid taxes, and had no criminal record—was deported on Martin Luther King Day and forced to leave behind his wife and two children. * In Connecticut, Joel Colindres—a homeowner and taxpayer who lived in New Fairfield, Connecticut with his 3-year-old daughter, 6-year-old son, and wife Samantha—was deported to Guatemala on January 31, 2018. Joel complied with every ICE order. * In New Jersey, Harry Pangemanan—an Indonesian immigrant who had just been given a civic award for leading crews that rebuilt more than 200 homes since Hurricane Sandy—has been forced to take sanctuary in a church after ICE agents came to his home. * In New York, immigrant rights leader Ravi Ragbir was arrested at a routine check-in with immigration officials—and religious leaders and local elected officials were arrested trying to block the vehicle taking him away. Since then, a judge has ordered him released. But he is only one of many immigrant leaders recently targeted. * Also in New York, members of the clergy have said ICE agents have repeatedly come into their congregations and stopped worshippers from entering and exiting, undermining a tradition older than the United States itself of respecting houses of worship as sanctuaries. * In Washington, D.C., a member of Congress from Arizona called on U.S. Capitol police to arrest any undocumented Americans attending the State of the Union address, who were there at the invitation of other members of Congress to ensure immigrants are not forced back into the shadows by the Trump administration. And these are just a few examples. As ICE becomes more emboldened and given extra powers by the Trump administration, it will take all of us—from all walks of life—to stand up and demand ICE stop tearing apart families.1,589 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Corinne Ball

Keep Nelly Home!**UPDATE: The "Department of Homeland Security" has changed Nelly's deportation date to February 28th. After informing Nelly on February 9th that she had been granted a stay- which would have allowed her to have her case heard in court, the "Department of Homeland Security" reversed it's decision and 4 days later gave a new deportation day. The Department of Homeland Security is at it again. Nelly Cumbicos has never had a chance to have her case heard by Immigration. Nelly and her family just want her to have her day in court. Nelly’s story, like so many immigrant stories, is part of what makes America resilient and strong. She fled Ecuador in 2000 under death threats and was captured and kidnapped by bandits, who then had an automobile accident with a car full of immigrants in the US. ICE sent Nelly to join her family in Connecticut with a promise to be in touch with her. Nelly had no more contact with ICE until 2015 when she applied for citizenship. In 2018, Nelly was given a deportation date. Nelly is not a criminal. She’s our neighbor. She’s our friend. She is a kind and proud mother of a 15-year-old honor student. And Nelly is absolutely no threat to national security. According to her friends, Nelly warms your heart with her smile and charisma. Her love is endless for her neighbors, friends, and family. Nelly is the first one to volunteer for cleaning duties at her church and provides food for Sunday service to nourish the members of her community. Tell ICE and the Department of Homeland Security to stop destroying families!15,459 of 20,000 SignaturesCreated by Charla Nich
