• Tell Congress to increase the number of H2B visas and that it is a labor issue NOT an immigration...
I have been personally effected by this issue. We could not handle the work without our H2B workers in 2017 and the company lost half of its revenue, a quarter of its customers and a valuable American exmployee. This year we are in the same position. The following link explains well my experience: http://fox8.com/2018/02/25/local-landscapers-worried-about-having-workers-this-summer/ The issue is complex and involves rules set in place by Congress. At the most the number of foreign seasonal workers would be 120,000 spread all throughout the country. My goal is to teach people that it is a labor issue - NOT an immigration issue. Please tell Congress to allow seasonal businesses to use the H2B visa by increasing the number of visas available to us. Right now we are basically in a lottery system and if we lose (by not getting the visas), we might go out of business...

  • Stop Separating Families: Stop Felix Garcia’s Deportation!
Felix Garcia is a longtime Georgia resident, an aspiring American, and the father of three daughters, including a medical student and a young U.S. citizen. Earlier this year, during a regular annual check-in, Felix was detained by ICE with no explanation. Felix has lived in the U.S. since 1995 and has no criminal record. Despite all of his contributions and efforts, Felix has never had a path to legal status in the United States, and now he faces permanent separation from his family. ICE under the Obama Administration did not see Felix as a threat or a deportation priority, and allowed him to stay with his family as long as he checked in annually. But under the Trump Administration, parents like Felix who have done nothing besides live in the country without papers are being taken away. Felix is an accountant and originally came to the United States seeking asylum. His oldest daughter Belsy is a Dreamer and medical student in Chicago who plans to return to Georgia as a physician and work in underserved communities. Atlanta ICE Office Director Sean Gallagher can stop Felix's deportation. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) can use the power of his office to draw attention to Felix’s case. Tell Director Gallagher and Rep. Loudermilk to use their power to make sure Felix stays with his family! We need to do everything we can to stop Donald Trump's unchained ICE agents from taking Felix away from his home and family in Georgia. Sign this petition and urge Rep. Loudermilk and Director Gallagher to take action and stop Felix's deportation.

  • Release Alejandra Pablos
Alejandra's case is complicated. As a young person she was arrested and convicted of several charges, including Driving Under the Influence and possession of drug paraphernalia, some of which were felonies under Arizona state law. In 2011, after she complied with the orders from the court, she spent 2 years at the Eloy Detention Center in Southern Arizona, lost her residency, and was placed in deportation proceedings. But since Alejandra was released from detention she has worked to advocate for human and civil rights, dedicating her life to organizing against the attacks on immigrant rights and fighting for reproductive rights. As part of her local organizing, in early January of this year, as Alejandra was leading chants at a peaceful protest in Virginia outside of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), she was singled out and detained by DHS agents. Although she was released, this flagged her case. When Alejandra showed up to her check-in with ICE in Tucson, she was taken into custody and not allowed to pay a bond. Alejandra is a nationally recognized immigrant rights and reproductive rights, activist. She works as a Field Coordinator for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, where she organizes to raise the voices of Latinas in Virginia for policy change at all levels of government on issues that impact their lives, women’s health care, and other social justice issues. Alejandra has been a staunch advocate for immigration reform and mass incarceration. She is a member of Mijente, a national political Latinx organization, and has worked with many immigrant rights and prison abolition organizers throughout the country.

  • Stand with California Leaders Against Jeff Sessions' Attack on Immigrants
Today, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that he was suing the state of California over pro-immigrant laws that protect Californians against the overreaches and abuses of Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE). Jeff Sessions' lawsuit against California, the most immigrant-populous state, is simply the Trump Administration's latest attack on the immigrant community. Immigrant-friendly policies like the California "Values Act" makes everyone safer by promoting trust between immigrants and local law enforcement officials. Furthermore, courts have repeatedly ruled that the Trump Administration's policies on detaining immigrants are unconstitutional. But Jeff Sessions and Donald Trump don’t seem to care. California Governor Jerry Brown referred to Jeff Sessions' attacks on his state were nothing more than a "political stunt." Attorney General Sessions is seeking to undermine due process and state policies dedicated to protecting diverse communities. The United States is a nation of immigrants and this lawsuit tramples on American values. Please sign this petition thanking California leaders for and letting them know that we stand with them in supporting immigrants.

  • Make New Jersey a Sanctuary State: protect law-abiding immigrants from deportation
Rather than targeting criminals, as promised, Trump has empowered ICE to aggressively stalk and detain any law-abiding hard-working immigrant. Tearing families apart is not a humane immigration policy. In addition to being cruel, it amounts to racial profiling, and makes us less safe by discouraging our immigrant neighbors from reporting crime and fully engaging in our communities because of fear of deportation. NJ should follow California's lead and be a Sanctuary State.

  • Fix Green Card Backlog For High Skilled Immigrants/Save H4ead
This issue has personally affected my family. Please read the story in the newspaper link below to see how much pain my family is silently suffering while taking care of the sick and infirm with the empathy that they deserve. H4EAD has personally helped me to work with more patients who are lacking access to care due to physician shortages in the USA. Also, I am able to diversify in my work and teach medical students from the Florida State University Medical School as Clinical Assistant Professor. If I have to go back to H1B and wait in line again for a green card, which is tremendously backlogged, it will put restrictions on my ability to help patients and continue training future doctors. https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/2018/03/01/local-doctor-fears-job-loss-face-potential-trump-rule-reversal/337375002/

  • Bring Joel Colindres Home!
**UPDATE: The "Department of Homeland Security" deported Joel Colindres on Wednesday, January 31st. Please sign in hopes to reunite Joel with his family, safely here in the US. Joel is not a criminal. Joel is/was a hardworking, taxpaying father of 2 small children. He is/was the kindergarten soccer coach, the favorite son-in-law of his combat wounded veteran father in law. Joel never posed a threat to anyone. He has no criminal record. Joel fled violence and death threats in Guatemala in 2004. He sought asylum in the USA. Because of a clerical error, Joel's court date notification was mailed to the wrong address in the wrong state. Joel never received that notification- which set his life course in motion. Joel is happily married to a US citizen and has an approved I-130 and Visa sponsorship thru his wife. Rather than hear his asylum case or allow him to finish the Green Card process through his valid marriage, the "Department of Homeland Security" forced him to take a one way nonstop flight to Guatemala, the very place he fled. Please follow Joel's family's struggle on the Facebook page "Save Joel Colindres." ICE has made the cruel decision to break this family- but they're going to fight to keep it together. They will continue to fight for justice for Joel!

  • "A nation of immigrants"
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is a non-political federal agency that grants visas and U.S. citizenship to eligible immigrants. This week, it removed the phrase “nation of immigrants” from its mission statement with no specific explanation. This is a step backwards as to who we are as a nation. Words matter and have power. Our country was built by immigrants and continues to excel because of all the contributions they make each and every day. Make no mistake. The removal of these three words is part of President Trump’s anti-immigrant and xenophobic agenda. Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and the rest of his Administration are using their authority to circumvent Congress whenever possible and make clear that immigrants are no longer welcome in the United States. This goes against our history and our heritage. Immigrants enrich our nation, which is why we must do everything in our power to ensure they are still welcomed into our communities, states, and country. We cannot allow the Trump Administration and USCIS to erode our American values. Please sign this petition demanding that USCIS add “nation of immigrants” back to its mission statement.

  • Don't Fund Trump's Deportation Machine!
Join us in demanding your representative and senators #DefundHate by publicly calling for significant cuts to the detention and deportation machine and opposing any funding bill which wastes taxpayer dollars on this unaccountable and abusive system. Right now, Congress is making decisions about funding for the rest of this fiscal year, and they're considering massive increases in funding for new ICE and Border Patrol agents to terrorize our communities—an immigration detention system known for its abuse and mismanagement, and wasteful and dangerous border militarization, including the border wall. Congress has failed to pass permanent protections for immigrant youth, TPS-holders, or many other members of our communities. ICE and CBP under the Trump Administration have put the detention and deportation machine on steroids, continue to ramp up aggressive and hateful raids and other immigration enforcement, hide information from the American public, and retaliate against anyone who speaks out. With this track record, it's clear that Congress should be looking at cuts in funding, not huge increases! Congress must take steps now to cut funding that rips families apart and and instead invest in programs proven to support communities growing and thriving together like housing, education, nutrition, and health care.
