• Hedgehogs Legal In Georgia
I am starting this petition because I feel that african pygmy hedgehogs should be legal as pets in Georgia due to the warm climate in the summer, and cool climate in the winter.

  • robert reich for president 2016
Obama has done a lot of good. Democrats need more time to fix what ails america. The republican solution to a recession is war and get rid of minimum wage. The republican southern states are a good example of destroyed economies. I hope kansas and wisconsin survive the gop voodoo economics. I think Reich is smart enough to beat the koch-gop tea party, who are he'll bent on creating a pretend christian oligarchy. I am old enough to have known more than a few john birch draft dodgers. The tea party is more of the same. Selfish, white supremist, warmongers, all the things that make u.s.a. look bad to the rest of the world. It embarrasses me that people vote for them. Reich would make a good sane, with no baggage like hillary, presidential candidate.

  • Stop Anderson from expanding vacation rentals in our residential neighborhoods; support strong en...
Vacation rentals decrease the pool of housing for residents, push up prices for buyers and renters, increase property taxes for everyone else, and change the character of a neighborhood. In 2008 when Ikaika Anderson was Planning and Zoning Vice-Chair they killed a similar enforcement Bill by refusing to hear it, and then pushed a Bill legalizing new vacation rentals, which was defeated. Resolution 15-72 is just like the defeated Bill from 2008. Resolution 15-72 gives permits for independent dwellings with their own entrance, kitchens and 3 bedrooms (that is a family home!) to be legal vacation rentals in all residential zones across Oahu. 0.5% of all housing can be vacation rentals with 1/3 of the total concentrated in a single district. Neighbors have no say. Resolution 15-72 weakens the enforcement tools and penalties requested by DPP. The applicant is supposed to live on-site, but there are no penalties for breaking this rule. Because of the housing crisis, we are converting good agricultural land to housing. The City is also moving to increase the density in residential areas – allowing “Additional Dwelling Units” which are Ohana units that can be rented anyone. These should not go forward without enforcement: they will be used for tourists instead of residents. Please sign this petition and write or call all City Council members and let them know you want effective enforcement of vacation rentals to protect housing stock for residents before any other changes are considered. • Kaniela Ing and Roz Baker: Industrial Hemp Creates Green Jobs, Pass SB375
I am starting this petition because I went to the hemp for hope workshop last year and learned you can make great grown and made on maui products such as hempcrete, insulation, canvas, clothing, hemp oil, hemp seed, biofuels, and paper just to name a few great uses. On July 4, 1776 the declaration of independence was written on hemp paper. I feel it is time to allow entrepreneurs and businesses in our community to partake and invest in the over half a billion dollar industry that continues to grow throughout the nation. Legalizing the cultivation of industrial hemp and expanding the industry to others that want to adopt safer agricultural practices, protect our environment, and make Hawai‘i a better place for future generations is common sense, a great idea, and the right thing to do.

  • Opposed to rezoning C/Z#1770
I am opposed to the rezoning request for the Overbrook Town Center as filed by TD Rehoboth LLC (Tax Map #235-23.00-1.00) C/Z#1770. I feel that it 1. Will have a major impact on our quality of life due to safety, traffic, noise, and pollution. 2. Will have an impact on the Greater Marsh due to impervious surfaces with its 850,000 sq. ft. retail space and over 5,100 parking spaces. 3. Will result in MAJOR congestion along the Route 1 corridor both North and Southbound. 1,500 more cars per hour past Cave Neck Road per DelDOT TIS 2014. 4. Will create difficulty for rapid response by fire, ambulance, and police responders 5. Will most likely cause tax increases due to road costs, building overpasses, and increased police involvement. 6. Will restrict access for housing developments along Cave Neck Road as one would have to go THROUGH the Town Center in order to go North on Route 1 or return home when coming from the South.

  • Indoor Track And Field Facility
We, the citizens of Nassau County would like to point your attention to our need for a public indoor track and field facility, to facilitate year-round, indoor practice and competitive events during the winter months. At this moment no indoor public facility for winter track and field practice exists in Nassau County. An indoor 200m track will facilitate a number of sports for training and competitions. This will give athletes the facilities they need to continue to grow their talent during the cold and icy months. The indoor track could be used year round as a center for Athletics. Regularly scheduled sport tournaments would generate a significant amount of revenue. In addition, such a facility would create jobs by staffing Instructors to accommodate many Health and Fitness activities for all ages. Building costs are extremely affordable now and as the economy recovers, costs will rise accordingly. This plan will increase our county revenue immediately and for years to come. This is not a new idea we just want it to be done now with no strings attached: “A call from some Nassau residents for a new indoor facility that would hold various sporting and other events has prompted County officials to propose such a $5 million building as part of the $400 million it hopes to borrow for a new Coliseum and minor league ballpark. If voters approve borrowing the $400 million on August 1, the County plans to use $5 million of the money to build a 90,000-square-foot multipurpose facility for track and field events and conventions, Deputy County Executive Rob Walker said.” This petition calls for funding to be made available to build an indoor athletics track in the county. This facility can be located at Valley Stream National Park, Eisenhower Park or located behind the Omni Building on the Mitchel Field property. It would include an artificial turf field and a six-lane track. Currently it’s certainly difficult to train in the winter here; local athletics is in danger of missing out on high performance practice because of the lack of facilities, which is the case during the winter months. The outdoor track is completely iced up during winter, the climate here really limits what we are able to do training wise, so we have to look at getting a proper indoor track and field facility. Training in the gym while competing with basketball for space is always a battle. We would be grateful if we are able to be provided the indoor track and field facility. WHAT CAN YOU DO? Sign the petition, share on Facebook, spread the word or write an email/letter to your elected officials.
