• Peace and Joy Day
In these trying and sometimes uncertain times it is more and more crucial to treat one another with kindness and respect. We want to to live in a world that reflects these values. In that spirit, We are asking that you proclaim October 1st, 2017 Peace and Joy Day in The United States of America. We are honored to say Mayor Sylvester Turner has already proclaimed Peace and Joy Day for the 8th consecutive year In Houston, Texas. Peace and Joy Day is intended to be a non-denominational, non- political celebration to promote conscious compassion, awareness and peace and joy FOR ALL. We hope this vision of peace can be realized someday and with your help we believe it can. Thank you.

  • An Open Letter from Americans to Mayor Khan and the People of London
Dear Mayor Khan and the people of London: As many of us in the United States know, the days following a terror attack are filled with grief, fear, uncertainty and instability. We’ve also seen how those same days bring out the best in people: strangers offering support to victims and their families—regardless of what they look like or where they come from—and foreign allies sending words of strength and solidarity. Sadly, our president has violated that sacred pact. You have no doubt had your hands full since Saturday’s attack that claimed the lives of seven innocent people, but President Trump has taken to Twitter to attack your response in the immediate aftermath of the attack and use this tragedy as a vehicle to further his own xenophobic agenda. We want to make it clear to you and the people of London that he does not speak for us. Despite anti-immigrant rhetoric about rooting out extremism, you understand that British Muslims are just as much a part of the fabric of your city than anyone else and want nothing more than peace. You also understand that no “ban” can end hate, and raising alarm will only lead to further chaos. As American author E.B. White wrote in 1973, “As long as there is one upright man, as long as there is one compassionate woman, the contagion may spread and the scene is not desolate. Hope is the thing that is left to us, in a bad time.” We, compassionate citizens of the United States, are sending your city hope and strength. Ignore hate, embrace love, and know we will always be your loyal friends.

I am tired of hyped-up rhetoric and people who claim smaller government is better, yet still back large, overreaching actions by a president that does not understand actual law.

  • @HouseForeign, @HFACDemocrats: Hold a hearing on Trump's Saudi arms deal
Senators Rand Paul, Chris Murphy, and Al Franken have introduced a resolution in the Senate against Trump's Saudi arms deal. [1] Representatives Justin Amash and Mark Pocan have introduced a companion resolution in the House against the Saudi arms deal. [2] Under the Arms Export Control Act, the Senate resolution against the Saudi arms deal is guaranteed a floor vote. But the House resolution against the Saudi arms deal is not guaranteed a floor vote. The House resolution against the Saudi arms deal could be buried by the House Foreign Affairs Committee [HFAC] and never receive a floor vote. On May 25, Rep. Ted Lieu and Rep. Ted Yoho sent a letter to HFAC Chairman Ed Royce calling for a full committee hearing to review the Trump Administration’s proposed sale of precision-guided munitions to Saudi Arabia. The letter noted that the Trump Administration had yet to provide information related to the Saudi Air Force’s capacity to avoid civilian casualties and attacks on civilian targets in its airstrikes in Yemen which was requested by 31 Members of Congress, including members of the Committee, in a letter on April 6, 2017. The Obama Administration suspended the sale in December 2016 following repeated Saudi airstrikes on civilian targets. [3] Add your voice to the demand that HFAC hold a hearing on Trump's Saudi arms deal by signing our petition. • I support Colorado joining the US Climate Alliance
It's time we establish our state's rights in the fight to reduce carbon emissions at our state's power plants, reduce methane emissions, and boycott OPEC and the American Oil and Gas Industry by NOT driving gas and diesel passenger cars on Sundays. We also recommend that Coloradians boycott all fuel transported via the Keystone Pipeline and increase the State of Colorado incentives for Plugin Hybrid Vehicles and Electric Vehicles
