  • Save Historic Pollok Building
The thought of losing such a significant historical building anywhere is devastating. This building was built by one of the Georgetown/Silver Plume Historic Landmark District's highly respected doctors during the Victorian silver boom. This act goes against everything the National Historic Landmark designation stands for.

  • stand up for homeowner right to appear in foreclosure court
I tried to contact the bank in 2008 when my ex-partner and father of my children lost his job and left our home, declaring bankruptcy and neglecting to contribute financially to the household. The bank told me they could not talk to me until I was in default for 3 months. So I went into default and started talking to them. I filed application after application for a making home affordable loan and continue to do so to this day. Six years later I am at the end of the foreclosure process and am being denied the right to tell my side of the story to the judge. I have been trying to negotiate with the bank and several different servicers for 6 years. Every time I would get somewhere the loan would be sold or the servicer changed and I would have to begin again. I have applied for several making home affordable loans. All the bank has offered is a reduction in interest rate from the original 2005 6.15% down to 2%. This was not enough to make my home affordable. The bank has not offered a principle reduction. I am a single mom who raised 2 children on my own. I have been through the mandatory conference period with the bank and court referee. At times the bank's representative didn't even show up. The referee ruled in the banks favor despite this and the case has proceeded to the judge. Furthermore the bank filed a summons and complaint in October of 2012 before the resale of my loan was filed with the county clerk. This is illegal. The bank has not yet provided the original loan document either. The bank has also been implicated in wrong doing regarding mortgage fraud etc. In2012 I consulted a lawyer who answered the banks petition. It cost $250. Then in December 2014, I consulted, Liz Gavin Esq. at Legal Services of the Hudson Valley who told me I may have a statue of limitations and that my case was slated for February 2015. Liz Gavin also told me the judge had never ruled in favor of a homeowner in his entire career. Legal Services dropped my case in January of 2015. I received not a single letter from the bank or the court explaining what was happening with my case. Judge Peter M. Foreman is handling my case. Index# 7609 (2012). I called the court to find out what the judge decided and the clerk told me the judge asked the bank for some paperwork and will reconvene on October 24, 2015. That is next month! I have no lawyer, no money to spend on one and there is a waiting list for free legal services. I was told I was not even allowed to be present in the courtroom but that I could write the judge a letter. This seems preposterous. I thought I had a right to defend myself in a court of law. How can I get help in publicizing these injustices and getting my day in court?

  • Better Handicap Accessibility at Kmart in Memphis, TN
I am trying to get Kmart to incorporate better and more effective accessibility for handicap and disabled customers. This is a cause close to my heart because I see the difficulty my God mother and other disabled customers deal with while trying to maintain what little independence they have left and shop for themselves. Please support this cause.

  • Bring back Ms. Jackman to IS 285K
The school year has begun and without the security and confidence of knowing that Ms. Jackman is in place at IS 285 to secure safety and ensure academic enrichment is disheartening to students and worrisome to parents. We have developed relationships and planted seeds and roots with Sports and Arts based on Ms. Jackman. IS 285 is undergoing a lot of transition and our school community has been put through tremendous changes. However, Erica Jackman through the upheaval was able to give the students and parents stability, peace of mind and a greater expectation for the future. The shock of her absence has sent the IS 285 community into yet another spiral. If children and families is the focus, what are you really doing to improve our community? Bring Ms. Jackman back. IS 285 past, present and future needs her.

  • DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz: We're Holding Out Monetary Support until We Get More Debates
Many have called on the DNC and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz for increasing the number Democratic debates but the DNC(supposedly the "people's" party) is not listening to us, the people! In order for Democrats to choose the best candidate possible, more debates are necessary. I choose to vote for more debates by withholding all donations from the DNC and I urge you all to do the same!

  • Petition for the release of Randy Rotta
When Randy was approved for parole in 2007, it was as a new parole chairman, Alfonso Graham, was coming in, who felt too new to parole Randy and gave him a defer. He still sits in prison 8 years later. His wife waits. This man has served 34 years! He truly deserves a second chance.

  • Petition for Parole for Rufus West
I have known Rufus West for over 15 years. He has transformed himself in those years. He was angry and seriously mentally ill and often in trouble with prison staff and has become mature and wise . He often mentors the younger prisoners. The judge sentenced him to 28 years knowing he would be elegible for parole after 7 years. At that time, the intent of the parole statutes was honored and prisoners who could show themselves rehabilitated were released shortly after serving 25 percent of their sentence. That he is still in prison after all these years is a true outrage.

  • Petition for release of Hector Cubero
Hector Cubero is one of the thousands of Wisconsin prisoners who are in prison not on a new felony, but because of a rule violation. He tatooed a minor who lied about his age and produced lots of affidavits from other minors who attested that he did not tattoo them. Hector has proven he can be a contributing member of society and we as taxpayers want to see overcrowding alleviated and more treatment and programs not this unnecessary waste of resources .
