• Call for federally mandated police body cameras
We feel that legislation such as this is necessary to bridge the gap of mistrust that has been growing in light of incidents of force used by officers in the recent past and the public outcry that has ensued. Based on the statistics gathered from studies on law enforcement agencies currently implementing body cameras, this would greatly reduce use of force and public complaints against law enforcement. This would not only serve to protect civilians, but would also protect officers from undue public scrutiny when acts of force are justified. With this kind of transparency, law enforcement's actions would no longer be subject to speculation and the public would again be able to trust in its integrity, as it should be. Thank you for your time and consideration, -We The People

  • NO GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN!
I own a child care center and see how this program works and makes society a better place by giving young children with lower income an EQUAL opportunity regardless of income. Our school is mixed income but shows no class divide. The benefits of these children being integrated and given an EQUAL opportunity and a fair start during their most important years are priceless. The elimination of these programs will give even higher income families very limited if any choices for quality day care to bring thier children because day cares will be going out of business if they lose many of thier children and teachers will be out of jobs. There are so many essential services in jeopardy that are necessary to provide a productive future for the families in the State of Illinois.

  • Lavern's Law
Lavern's Law would have begun the timeframe during which a patient is legally able to bring a medical malpractice case, on the day that the patient discovered the error, as opposed to the day that the error occurred. But Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan recently prevented the bill from reaching the senate floor for a vote. Lavern Wilkinson died from cancer because doctors didn't inform her that a chest X-ray showed a suspicious mass. When she found out, the statue of limitations had run out, which prevented her from seeking justice.

  • Minnesota Should Know When a Registered Sex Offender is Driving Around their Schools or parks.
Too many times have we all seen or were told about a suspicious car around a school or park. Nobody knows if this person is a registered repeat sex offender. Minnesota must require specialized license plates for the registered cars of registered sex offenders now. This is already a law for repeat DWI offenders in Minnesota.

  • Reno ICE: Help Dilan!
We are requesting you exercise prosecutorial discretion to not enforce the removal order against Mr. Gastelum consistent with the new enforcement memo by Secretary Johnson. Mr. Gastelum and his wife have a U.S. born son, Dilan (5) who suffers from severe eczema, developmental disabilities, anxiety and failure to thrive. Mr. Gastelum can provide medical insurance through his job and the insurance is necessary to treat and manage Dilan's severe eczema to avoid undue suffering and hospitalization. We believe this case meets the requirements for prosecutorial discretion and ask that you take immediate action to keep this family together and allow Dilan to continue receiving his much needed treatment.

  • Ask Sen. Anderson to pass stronger financial disclosure for politicians
The secret money influencing our elections isn’t lurking in only Dark Money contributions from wealthy campaign contributors. Turns out it’s also hiding in what candidates and elected officials don’t report about their finances. To detect possible conflicts of interest the public deserves clear, specific, and relevant information about candidates’ and elected officials’ finances including income sources and investments. AB 10, authored by Assemblymember Mike Gatto (D-Glendale), improves the current reporting by requiring more specific dollar amounts and extending behest disclosure requirements to one year after leaving office. It also requires more thorough descriptions of business holdings and partners, plus a list of when each financial interest caused abstention from a governmental decision. Senator Joel Anderson is the vice chair of the Senate Elections Committee which will vote on AB 10 on Tuesday. So please sign the petition and ask your friends to sign!

  • Recapitalize and Release the GSEs
Since the Great Depression in 1938, the GSEs (Fannie Mae and more recently Freddie Mac) have been providing liquidity in the housing market and enabling Americans to obtain 30-year, reasonably priced, fixed-interest rate mortgages so that they can purchase homes. Homeownership is the mostly likely path for middle class Americans to gain some measure of economic independence. Since 2012, the Treasury (in an illegal money grab) has been confiscating all profits of the privately-owned GSEs. This type of abuse of power should concern all Americans, especially since it destabilizes a main component of our economy - the housing market. Many in government want to eliminate the GSEs and give all their business to their political donors, the Too-Big-To-Fail Banks, making these banks (that caused the 2008 recession) even bigger and more powerful and likely eliminating the 30-year mortgage and the American Dream of Homeownership.
