Cancel the "prescribed burn" at Rocky FlatsThe Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge, managed by U.S. Fish & Wildlife, occupies most of the site of a now-closed nuclear weapons plant. During almost 40 years of production the plant released highly toxic plutonium into the environment. The Superfund cleanup of the site left tiny plutonium particles in the soil. The proposed burn would make particles available to be inhaled, the worst way to be exposed to plutonium.862 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by LeRoy Moore

KEEP THE HOLLY BOXApparently someone complained about the artwork I did on the makeshift memorial where my sister was struck and killed by a car in August of 2004. The Massachusetts DOT sent my family a letter notifying us that it would be removed.293 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Noah Pierce

Tell Fox News: Fire Kimberly Guilfoyle for telling young women they shouldn't voteKimberly Guilfoyle, co-host of the Fox News show 'The Five', recently suggested that young women shouldn't vote in the upcoming midterm elections. According to Guilfoyle, young women lack the life experience necessary to cast a ballot. Instead, she says "They can go back on Tinder or Match.com." Women have had the right to vote for less than a century in this country, and now Guilfoyle is discouraging women from exercising that right. Your vote is your voice in our democracy. It is the way we all express our opinions on various issues that affect our lives. Does Kimberly Guilfoyle believe that young women are un-affected by issues like workplace benefits such as paid family and medical leave, decent wages, access to affordable, quality health care, and more? Or does she just not think young women deserve to be part of our democracy? Everyone, young women included, has the right to vote on November 4th and no one should ever be told they don't matter in our democratic process. Fox News has frequently missed the mark, but they should be especially ashamed to employ someone who wants to disenfranchise young women. Sign now and call on Fox News to fire Guilfoyle.17 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lindsay Farrell

Greenbelt Homes, Inc. (GHI): First Things First and HIP LaterThe GHI Board of Directors will soon vote on the Homes Improvement Program (HIP) and what to put to the members for final decision. They are considering which aspects of HIP to require for the entire cooperative, and which to allow members to choose for their own units. The HIP proposal includes several items, such as insulation and bathroom exhaust fans. The proposal is not covered by reserve funds, will require a loan and result in an increase in member monthly fees. Replacement of doors and windows in all homes and siding in frame homes is already planned and budgeted under replacement reserve funds and does not require a member vote. Recently a Buildings Committee task force on crawl spaces released a report on major problems including standing water, sump pump failure, grading issues, and pests. The scope and cost of the issues are unknown. Crawl space remediation is necessary before envelope upgrades could begin. As concerned residents, we feel it is crucial for other members to understand and act on this issue. Let the Board know how you feel! Sign the petition, email and write the Board, and attend meetings. Please share the petition link with neighbors. Tell TIME Magazine: Apologize to America's teachersTime magazine is about to use its cover to blame teachers for the problems in America’s schools. On Monday, Nov. 3, this cover will be in every supermarket checkout line and newsstand across the country—and it’s already online. Time’s cover misrepresents its own reporting. The Time article looks at the wealthy sponsors of these efforts. And while it looks critically at tenure, it also questions the testing industry’s connections to Silicon Valley and the motives of these players. The cover is particularly disappointing because the articles inside the magazine present a much more balanced view of the issue. But for millions of Americans, all they will see is the cover and a misleading attack on teachers.4,441 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers

SAVE HALLOWEEN FOR OUR KIDSA majority of townspeople find it totally unfair that Halloween has been canceled at the two schools that have always celebrated. It seems that this decision was made to appease the minority. It is clear this decision was made by the BOE only, without input from the majority. Halloween is a tradition and a fun holiday for children. it is important that our children learn diversity, tradition and other cultures, this is all part of their education. We all strongly feel that Halloween should be maintained, celebrated and shared. Promoting tolerance does not mean abandoning mainstream customs and traditions. Based upon the reasons for canceling Halloween, will Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, Valentines day all be canceled also? This is a valid concern based upon the BOE's decision for Halloween. This subject has been aired over the media and on national news. Please accept this petition as a strong statement from all those who have respectively signed.702 of 800 SignaturesCreated by elena lombardo corrado
