There is a direct connection between gun violence and domestic violence: When a domestic abuser has a gun, a victim is 12 times more likely to die than when he doesn’t. One in four American women experiences physical violence from an intimate partner, and every month 46 women are killed by an intimate partner with a gun. We need to tell Congress that too many women are dying. Over twenty years ago Congress passed the landmark Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). We’ve made progress, but we need Congress to step up and plug the loopholes to protect all women now. Congress already expanded VAWA to make it a crime for those convicted of a domestic violence misdemeanor to buy or possess a gun. Now we need to expand protection to include women in dating relationships, and to prevent stalkers from owning guns. States United to Prevent Gun Violence and the Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus are partnering to deliver the message to Congress: "Step up and protect all women NOW by preventing stalkers and violent dating partners from buying and possessing guns".

I am terrified that Congress is ignoring their responsibility to decide this urgent issue for our safety. And it apalls me that they don't want a vote because of the upcoming election. They must do their job!

Overwhelmingly, Republicans and Democrats agree at the rate of around 75% that Citizens United is bad law and is allowing elections to be bought to deliver agendas that are not in the best interests of the American Citizens. The ultra rich industrialists have clean air, water and land protections crushed by legislators whose vote they have bought. And they bought these votes with anonymous donations. WE CANNOT STAND BY AND ALLOW CITIZENS UNITED TO DESTROY OUR ENVIRONMENT, OUR ECONOMY AND THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN TO PAD THEIR ALREADY BULGING COFFERS. VOTES ARE ONGOING THIS WEEK. FREE RALPH PLOOKIE DUKE This is a plea for attention, support, and consideration for the release of RALPH "PLOOKIE" DUKE. During the cocaine/disco/bad girl era of the 80's, PLOOKIE was convicted of cocaine sales and related charges. When he was sentenced, it was somehow decided that he was going to be an example set by whomever-the city, the law, the legal system- and blatantly sentenced to LIFE PLUS FORTY YEARS! It was flaunted and even advertised on billboards that his sentence was intentionally set to be ridiculous and not in accordance with any sentencing guidelines for his charges: TO SET AN EXAMPLE. With public humiliation and advertised gloating added to the ridiculous sentence, hangings, public lynchings, and burning of witches resounds a bit too eerily. Setting all that aside, EXAMPLE SET, DONE, DEAD. It is no longer current nor effective. The real and current concern and NEED FOR CORRECTION-other than the rest of PLOOKIE's life-is a fair, just, equal legal system with standardized sentencing that is, in itself, within the law, and protects all of our legal, civil, human, and constitutional rights without bias and prejudice. Please pause briefly, as a responsible citizen, to consider and attend to this travesty of justice. It won't take much time nor any detailed scrutiny since it's ludicrousness was pronounced at sentencing and touted as advertised afterwards. PLOOKIE has already served 25 and counting years! Our legal system is NOT OUTSIDE THE LAW OR CITIZEN RIGHTS!

There is already enough dirty money in politics and too much influence by corporations on our legislators. The people must be heard and corporations, despite what the Supreme Court would have you believe, are not people.

This amendment is the only way to reverse the WORST Supreme Court decision in history. (Is that an extreme statement? I don't think so.) Many have worked for years to make up for the damage - passing an amendment is extremely difficult, and rightly so. This is a critical step towards saving our democracy from the undue influence of money and corporate power. The electoral process is NOT meant for people who are intent on using their wealth to buy members of Congress. You must choose to support this measure if you also think it is important, Senator. Will you choose to stand with the people of New Hampshire, or with the One Percent?

Because we all deserve better. Our democracy should not be for sale and elections should not simply go to the highest bidder. Overturning Citizens United is one step, but a big step, toward stemming the influence of money in politics.
