Petition For Redress of Grievances Inflicted by Fossil FuelsThis is the statement of Abigail, Elizabeth, Patrick, Mike, and Jackie: We, the people of Washington state, are under serious threat from fossil fuels and coal and oil trains. Not only are our railway workers at risk from dangerous working conditions, long hours, and proposed, deadly single person crews – We are all at risk from oil train explosions, coal dust pollution, derailments, Puget Sound acidification, and the devastation of global warming. These are not empty words. Puget Sound salmon are being caught with skin peeling off. The shellfish industry is being forced out. The Sound, a region with high fossil fuel pollution, has four of the state’s five highest cancer rate counties – Whatcom, Pierce, Snohomish and Skagit. Climate disruption is coming home. This year our state has been hit with record fires driven by drought and deadly mudslides triggered by intense downpours. Our water security and jobs are at risk from loss of snowpack on which forests, farms and cities depend in warm months, and from fossil train spills. To avert climate catastrophe most fossil fuels must remain in the ground. Instead, production and shipping of the dirtiest fuels such as coal and shale oil are growing. Moving rapidly to a fossil-fuel-free Washington is not a choice, it is a societal imperative. Therefore, we demand that Governor Inslee enact an immediate moratorium on all fossil fuel trains and deny permits for all coal and oil shipping facilities. The time to act is now. Please sign our petition to show your support for these demands and for making Washington fossil-fuel free. Fossil fuel impacts intensify: • 2012 – Puget Sound acidification forces Taylor Shellfish to move hatchery facilities to Hawaii. • March 22, 2014 – Intense downpours trigger Oso landslide killing 43 people. • July 24, 2014 – Oil train with nearly 100 tanker cars derails under Magnolia Bridge in Interbay Seattle. • July 2014 – Carlton fire burns 251,000 acres, the largest wildfire in Washington history. President Obama declares federal disaster. • August 2014 – Downpour-caused mudslides, strike area scorched by fire, closed highways and stranded motorists. • August 19, 2014 – Drought covers 40% of Washington state.1,148 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Rising Tide Seattle

pay for time servedTexas inmates DO NOT get paid for work that they do on the unit they are assigned to. Texas has a paper agreement that in leu of payment inmates with good records will be given time served and early release. So far this hasn't been the case. Texas inmates are giving the state free labor and are not being giving parole or even time served. For the outside world that would be like going to work everyday and being told that you are not going to be paid for your service but you are still required to report everyday as scheduled. Texas needs to be held accountable and let the ones who have learned their lesson rejoin our society. Currently our tax dollars are what is keeping these guys in prison. Lets let some out and make them pay taxes just like we do. Many men and women have families that need and want them home and its for these that we need to take a stand and make Texas do what it promised.61 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cecilia Harris

Cyclists for Justice - Seattle Death Aug 29, 2014Cyclists are being hit, maimed and killed while riding legally all across the United States of America. It is time to hold motorists accountable for their actions with criminal charges. Stop Open Season on Cyclists! On August 29, 2014 in Seattle, WA Sher Kung, 31 was killed while riding her bicycle in a bike lane in downtown. She was an attorney and new mother of a 7 month old child that she now leaves behind. Kung received a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and her law degree in 2009 from the University of Californina, Hastings College of Law. Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends. Take Action Now! Do not let the Seattle Police Department or District Attorney allow this this driver to go home to his family without facing criminal charges. Several laws apply and should be enough to hold this motorist responsible for his actions. Remorse is not going to bring back this women who was cycling legally when she was struck and killed. This could be you or someone you love. Tell the district attorney you are a Cyclist for Justice. You expect charges to be filed. Laws that can and should be applied are: reckless driving: not yielding the right of way to another driver (bicycle driver); improper turn; not exercising due care that lead directly to the death of another driver (bicycle driver). In my opinion this is vehicular manslaughter and the district attorney should file and aggressively pursue these charges. No more slaps on the wrists for motorists that kill, injure, harass or hit cyclists. There are too many deaths of cyclists riding legally in the US. It is time for law enforcement officers, district attorneys and judges to bring criminal charges against these drivers. Enforce the existing laws as you would for any other vehicle on the road. These tragedies can be prevented. Drunk drivers are charged when they hit and kill people in other cars. Why should sober folks that make a choice, a dangerous decision and take a risk around cyclists that result in an accident or worse, death, be allowed to just go home? They should not. I firmly believe that when motorists are charged and jailed for killing bicyclists, motorists will take the existing laws more seriously. we will see more education for all drivers, improved safety for all bicyclists on or roads and, less motor vehicle accidents with cyclists. Take Action Now! Contact the King County Prosecuting Attorney, Dan Satterberg, listed here. Thank you! Contact your state and federal representatives too. Push for justice! Together our voices will be heard!d motorists accountable for their actions with criminal charges.52 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Scott Troy

Remove Rhonda Dean as Washburn's Principal. My daughter is a senior at Wasburn highschool and has been a victim of forced urine retention in the past. I don't want to see these draconian practices become the order of the day. No one should deny, delay or discourage a child from using the toilet when the urge presents itself no matter how many times the student needs to use the toilet. No limits on bathroom breaks is humane and it is how adults live. Children should be treated equally.42 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Leanna Sartin

Educate before IncarcerateChildren should be educated before they are incarcerated. Laws have been modified to increase the number of incarcerated teens. Bullying is now a felony that will send children to prison without properly educating them to know what bullying encompasses. Help us to educate our children, Florida statute 1006.147 says all children, staff and parents shall be taught about Bullying but the funding is being misappropriated. www.GoTHUG.org is on a mission to save the leaders of tomorrow by educating them. Gov. John Hickenlooper: Save the Colorado River & Create an Emergency Water PlanRivers directly affect the health of our seas, wildlife, communities, and economies. Restoring freshwater habitats is no longer optional; it’s required. The Colorado River basin serves Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona and New Mexico. Mexico and 29 Indian tribes along the Colorado River also claims to river water. Shrunken stream flows now pose serious threats to wildlife and recreation, as well as cities, farms and others who rely upon the river for a variety of critical needs. A steady increase in population growth and climate change related events has exacerbated conditions. In short, the demand for water exceeds the Colorado River water supply. Many communities throughout the western region are currently experiencing below normal precipitation and below average reservoir storage, which can impact water supplies, the natural environment, and quality of life . Tell Gov. Hickenlooper we need bold and powerful measures to protect the flow of the river, ensure economic vitality and secure water resources for millions of Americans. The Governor must implement an Emergency Water Plan that focuses on conservation, reuse through gray-water treatment, efficiency and water banking, renewable energy and energy efficiency(including wind, rooftop solar and geothermal energy solutions), and new water-efficient thermoelectric power plants. When used together, these solutions will help to ensure we have enough water and may even provide us with a surplus to serve growing populations and water demands.491 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Dorthea E. Dr. Vik Rao, Chairman: Ban Fracking in North CarolinaGov. Pat McCrory has signed a bill into law that clears the way for permits to be issued for "fracking" activities all across North Carolina. "Fracking,” shorthand for hydraulic fracturing, is the process by which water, sand and toxic chemicals are injected into wells to fracture sub surface rock for the extraction of shale gas. The process is known to contaminate water supplies and increase air pollution. Govenor McCorory’s law is harmful to the public waterways, and inhibits the development of other energy sources like wind and solar. There are numerous documented cases of contaminated water from fracking across the country. By rushing to frack, Gov. McCrory and legislative leaders are putting North Carolina's rivers and drinking water for millions in jeopardy. North Carolina's Mining and Energy Commission is the agency in charge of regulations over fracking & drilling to ensure the practice is safe. We urge the commission to reinstate the permanent ban on fracking and horizontal drilling for shale gas in North Carolina, and continue the ban on underground toxic injections to protect public health and conserve the State’s air, water, and other natural resources.479 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Dorthea E. US Department of Interior: End Mountaintop Removal to Protect Water in WVMountaintop Removal is a destructive and unsustainable practice that only benefits big, greedy corporations at the expense of the health of our communities and the environment. While traditional coal mining extracts coal from underground, mountaintop removal mining blasts away chunks of mountains at the surface to get at the coal beneath. Explosives are used to remove up to 400 vertical feet of a mountain to expose underlying coal seams. Excess rock and soil laden with toxic mining byproducts are then dumped into nearby valleys and waterways. But our water isn’t the only thing being poisoned by these chemicals; mountaintop removal has also polluted thousands of pristine streams, and there are dozens of toxic slurry dams across West Virginia. Mountaintop Removal mining has contributed to placing a slew of wildlife on the federal endangered species list, and threatens some of the highest biodiversity in North America. Numerous studies demonstrate that mountaintop mining has serious environmental impacts, including loss of biodiversity and toxification of watersheds, which mitigation practices cannot successfully address. There are also adverse human health impacts which result from contact with affected streams or exposure to airborne toxins and dust. We must tell President Obama and Director John Pizarchik of The US Dept of Interior - Office of Surface Mining, Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) to enforce the Stream Protection Rule, and stop mountain top removal to protect human health and our environment.1,007 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Dorthea E.
