Tell Congress: Block Trump’s $23 billion weapons sale to the UAE!Trump is hellbent on lighting the world on fire. Here in the US, he’s touting unfounding claims that undermine our very democracy. But in the Middle East, Trump wants more US-made bombs to drop in and around an already bombed-out Yemen. Trump wants to sell $23 billion worth of jet fighters, drones, and ammunition to the United Arab Emirates,1 despite knowing full well that they’re likely to be used in the war in Yemen. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to block Trump’s weapons sale! The people of Yemen have already watched US-made bombs hollow out their country and plunge them into the worst humanitarian crisis the world has ever seen. That was before the coronavirus pandemic! Since March of 2020, the situation in Yemen has only gotten worse, with millions of people on the brink of starvation. That’s the background in which Trump wants to arm Yemen’s neighbor, the United Arab Emirates, with billions in jet fighters, drones, and ammunition. The world stage is well aware that the UAE is involved with the war in Yemen.2 Selling arms to the UAE means more people in Yemen will either die by US-made weapons, or the devastating poverty and destruction those weapons leave behind. We can’t let Trump torch the world on his way out of office. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to block Trump’s weapons sale! Sources: 1. Fulton/Forsyth Water Bill IncreasesGiven the large number of residents seeing this sudden increase there seems to be something going on. The answer many residents get when they try to inquire about the increase is that there "must be a leak" - but clearly this many residents wouldn't have suddenly sprung a leak at the same time!78 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lauren Edmonds

Petition to Centura School Board to Allow High School BaseballThe communities of Dannebrog, Cairo, and Boelus have a strong tradition of supporting successful baseball programs. There are many boys who would appreciate the opportunity to play high school baseball at Centura. Several students have been walking door to door asking people to sign the petition for this cause, but they couldn't reach everyone. Please sign the petition if you support high school baseball at Centura!29 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brooke Fries

Biden: Immediately halt Trump's border wall. #NotAnotherFootRight now, the US government is dynamiting our borderlands, destroying ecosystems, violating sacred native territories, and carving a path of destruction through our US border cities. Joe Biden can stop all of this immediately, fulfilling his campaign promise that "There will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration." (8/5/2020) Despite being defeated, Trump ignored the election results and has continued building the wall at at warp speed, setting the stage for wall construction to continue well into the Biden administration. It can only be stopped if Biden issues an Executive Order. Your signature will be delivered to members of the Biden/Harris team, and help save countless communities under attack. Your signatures will... HALT THE DESTRUCTION: The wall is not a fence. It is 3-story-tall prison-style barrier (more than twice the height of the Berlin Wall) surrounded by a militarized security zone the width of a football field. It has lasting, devastating impacts on every US community in which it is built. It destroys nature ecosystems and sacred native sites. For example, in just a single US city that the wall would impact, Laredo, TX the wall will carve a path of destruction through over 1000 people's homes, public parks, and even an orphanage run by nuns. https://bit.ly/3hJq3sN SAVE BILLIONS, SAVE LIVES: Halting wall construction and tearing it down would save the US government billions of dollars that can be devoted to the real emergency needs of our country, like Covid relief. The wall costs between $20-30 million for every single mile, which we can instead use to fund housing, education, health care and other real needs. For example, just a single mile of wall can fund over 300,000 Covid vaccine doses. https://bit.ly/2WtkHrX STOP FUELING VIOLENT RACISM: For Trump's most violent supporters, the wall is their single greatest symbol of inspiration, one that fuels violent racist attacks across the country. "Build The Wall!" has become a chant at MAGA rallies in Washington DC, and a slur shouted during assaults on people of color in states as far away from the border as Michigan and Pennsylvania. The wall is a national issue. Stopping the wall helps shut down this engine of racism. https://bit.ly/2WtkHrX END THE FAKE "EMERGENCY": There is no "national emergency" happening on the border. FBI statistics show border cities are among the safest in the United States. The wall is based on a lie, and serves no actual security purpose on the border. Data: https://bit.ly/37ytD5u RESTORE EQUAL RIGHTS: To build the wall, Trump has been seizing public and private lands of thousands of US citizens, and tossing aside over 40 federal laws like the Clean Water Act. As a result, people who live on the border have fewer constitutional rights than those who live in the rest of the US. Help restore the rights of border citizens. STOP THE CORRUPTION: The wall is a feeding frenzy for corrupt contractors, putting billions of dollars of taxpayer handouts directly in the hands of Trump cronies, some of whom are right now under federal investigation for fraud. You can help end this corrupt spending spree. https://bit.ly/34v8es4 Tell Biden to immediately halt all construction and cancel all funding for this harmful and wasteful wall.531 of 600 SignaturesCreated by gan golan

Implement New Unit on Consent in Health Class at PTHSStudents at PTHS have made it clear that they do not understand the meaning of consent. Coercion, blackmail, pressure, and drunken yeses are NOT forms of consent. After posting an anonymous forum, I have received over 60 claims of sexual assault by PTHS students. School is meant to be a safe environment that promotes learning and academic growth. It should not be a breeding ground for sexual harassment and assault.407 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Becca True

Advance notice for firework displaysFirework displays are not only disruptive to the community but also cause significant distress in some populations, including veterans, children, and others with noise sensitivity. Many of our pets are also noise phobic, and fireworks can cause pets to injure themselves, run away from home, or destroy things within the home. Public announcement of firework displays is a common courtesy that will allow people to plan adequately to keep themselves and their pets safe.126 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Liz Gray

Outrageous: Pennsylvania GOP trying to overrule votersRather than accepting the results of the state's election, some members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly have launched an egregious attack on our democracy -- attempting to toss out the millions of ballots that Pennsylvanians cast this year. Let’s be clear: this shameful action has no chance of overturning the results of the presidential election. Pennsylvania law states that the popular vote determines who receives the state's electors. Pennsylvanians cast their ballots in record numbers, those ballots were counted -- and a winner has been declared. But make no mistake -- this will fuel the fire of Trump’s repeated attempts to undermine the public’s trust in our democratic systems. And worse yet, state legislators deciding they can overrule an election because they don’t like the results would go against the very foundation of our democracy. It’s time for us to move forward together after this divisive election -- not point fingers and spread baseless conspiracy theories that impugn the integrity of our elections. Officials in Pennsylvania did their job and ran a free, secure, and accessible election. And, millions of voters did their jobs too -- braving a nationwide pandemic, disinformation campaigns, and restrictive voting laws to make their voices heard. That's why Pennsylvania's members of Congress -- who will oversee the state's Electoral College vote -- must immediately reject and condemn this dangerous partisan effort. If you agree, add your name now.38 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Common Cause

CROSLEY GREEN: ONE BLACK LIFE THAT NEVER SEEMED TO MATTERCrowell & Moring represents Crosley Green in his fight to prove his innocence in the 1989 murder of Charles “Chip” Flynn Jr. Mr. Green has served more than 30 years in prison, including 19 years on Florida’s death row, while maintaining his innocence. Crowell & Moring has represented Mr. Green pro bono since 2008 on referral from the ABA Death Penalty Project. On September 5, 1990, an all-white jury convicted Mr. Green of first-degree murder of Mr. Flynn, a 22-year-old man in Titusville, Fla., and sentenced him to death. In 2009, Crowell & Moring won Mr. Green’s release from death row. He is currently serving a life sentence. On July 20, 2018, the firm secured a critical victory in the case when a federal court in Orlando, Fla., granted Mr. Green’s petition for habeas corpus. The court found that Mr. Green’s constitutional rights were violated when Brevard County, Fla., prosecutors withheld key exculpatory evidence of Mr. Green’s innocence in his 1990 trial for the murder of Mr. Flynn. The state of Florida is appealing the ruling, arguing that Mr. Green should not be granted a new trial. The case is currently pending before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. As Mr. Green’s case awaits a ruling from the appellate court, Crowell & Moring filed an emergency motion at the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals to request Mr. Green’s immediate release due to an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Calhoun Correctional Institution in Blountstown, Fla. The motion was denied.1,036 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Ellen Jones

CFSD Parents for Virtual InstructionThe education of our children should be the upmost importance. CFSD had time to implement and train staff/teachers and should have been prepared to go to “virtual learning”. Giving supplies to parents for parents to teach our children is not acceptable. We want our children to be given the education that they deserve and that we pay for via taxes.36 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sara Hutzell

NOW is the time to demand these treatments be free and accessible to EVERYONE. We have a tiny window to pressure President-elect Biden's COVID-19 task force to ensure PEOPLE come before PROFITS. A Biden administration must not only immediately rejoin the World Health Organization (WHO) — the United States has got to go further. Community Against Roosevelt ShutdownI am a parent of a student at Roosevelt Elementary and have been very involved within the building through the PTO for the past 6 years. A steering committee appointed by the Board is considering recommendations that might result in a consolidation from five elementary schools to four. The consolidation would close one elementary school. Roosevelt is on the chopping block. Roosevelt is a historical building and the marque of the district. It is short sighted not to see all the benefits that Roosevelt has to offer. The proposed renovations that were approved and voted on by residents in the latest bond have yet to come to fruition. Roosevelt is fully utilized and costs are low to operate compared to the other schools with fewer students. Roosevelt has that neighborhood feel and allows students to walk to school; enjoy a smaller, more intimate setting with friends from their neighborhood; provides working parents that commute efficiency and convenience; and serves as a cornerstone in the community. Roosevelt proximity offers a variety of housing options for a diverse student population. Abandonment of Roosevelt Elementary may lead to a decline in neighboring property values or vandalism. If Roosevelt is demolished, it may remain a vacant lot for years or be replaced with an undesirable new use. Moreover, consolidating our historic neighborhood school into a large anonymous “sprawl school” on the outskirts of town may strain the sense of community and add new costs. Tell West Bloomfield School Board to suspend their decision and keep Roosevelt as an operational school.741 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Jessica Clarke
