The FDA wants comments on fluoride added to table salt. The Food and Drug Administration wants comments by the public and the profession on a petition to add potassium fluoride, KF, a micronutrient, to Iodized table salt for both the prevention of Iodine Deficiency Disease and Dental Decay. If your town is too small to have Community Water Fluoridation for prevention of dental decay, this fluoridated/iodized table salt will put 1 mg of fluoride in your diet to reduce decay by 40 to 60 percent, just like water fluoridation.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jack M. JeffCo Public Schools: Stop disclosing confidential student information to corporations without p...We oppose the disclosure of confidential student information to a private corporation called inBloom, Inc. by JeffCo Public Schools and the Colorado Department of Education. This highly sensitive information, which will include students’ names, addresses, test scores, grades, attendance, economic, health and special education status, and detailed disciplinary records, will be stored in a vulnerable “data cloud” and made available to vendors, to help for-profit companies develop and market their learning products. This unprecedented sharing of children’s confidential information is scheduled to occur before the 2013-2014 school year; it is happening without the notification or consent of parents. There are huge risks involved in this violation of our children’s privacy, including potential data leaks. Until the school district and/or state holds public hearings to fully explain the purpose of this project, the safeguards that will be put in place, and provides parents with the right to consent, this unethical disclosure of confidential data must cease.543 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Rachael

Tell the Wisconsin Legislature: Don't End Weekend Voting!Wisconsin legislators have introduced a bill (AB 54) which would prohibit clerks from opening early, late, or on weekends to accommodate voters trying to cast their ballots before Election Day. This is just one more way to make it harder for the voices of regular people to be heard. Our fight for a fair democracy is one in the same with the fight for ballot access. This is a fight to decide who has control in this country — wealthy special interests or regular people. Because when big money floods elections with special interest cash and then changes the law to hamper the our ability to cast a ballot, it allows them to completely lock the us out of our democracy.4,991 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Eric Ming

Tim Tebow, don't speak at Liberty UniversityNFL quarterback Tim Tebow is well-known for proudly sharing his faith and for his charitable work with sick and injured children. But on Friday, he's scheduled to deliver a speech at Liberty University -- a virulently anti-gay university founded by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, who famously blamed gays and lesbians for the September 11 terrorist attacks. Liberty University isn't just another conservative Christian college. It's ground-zero for a global assault on the legal rights of gays and lesbians -- and a symbol of everything that's wrong with the religious right. Just last month, Tebow cancelled a church speaking appearance after learning of the pastor's hateful anti-gay views, so we know he understands the danger of associating with extremists. Tell Tim Tebow: Don't give your Christian faith a bad name by speaking at Liberty University.23,169 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Michael Sherrard, Faithful America

Smoking in the CapitolSome legislators feel they have the right to not obey the laws regarding smoking in government buildings. They are not above the law unless it specifically excludes them in which case the law is discriminatory and therefore not a valid law.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Art Sargent

Donations for OK City bombing withheld from victimsThe victims of the bombing of the Murrah Bldg in OK City are being victimized again by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The Foundation withholds the money meant for the victims, diverted $4 million plus to other kinds of disaster relief. Nancy Anthony, president of the Foundation, pays herself $232,217 a year. The money should be distributed to the victims. Ken Feinberg volunteered pro bono to oversee distribution of the funds to the real bombing victims.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Darla Straka

Remove John Boehner as Speaker of the HouseIn watching Speaker Boehner over the last four years, I have become increasingly alarmed by his obvious alcohol problem. Although it is referred to by many TV (Joe Scarborough) and radio personalities offhandedly, we should all be concerned that he is not only unfit to handle his current responsibilities, but he would be absolutely incapable of assuming presidential responsibilities.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Beth

Save Grace's Home from Bank of America's Bad Math!Grace Alexander, a 57-year-old grandmother from Newark, is struggling to save her home from Bank of America's foreclosure process. For more than two years, Grace has battled the big bank...and for more than two years Bank of America has given her the run around. Paperwork, phone calls, meetings…and even protests…have been met with nothing more than the runaround leading to wholly unrealistic offers from Bank of America. The greedy Wall Street bank’s most recent communication with Grace is a clear demonstration that they simply don’t care about Grace or the four generations of her family who have called the Newark house their home for the last 12 years. In a letter dated February 13th, 2013, Bank of America sent Grace Alexander an offensive reply to her request for a mortgage modification to save her home. Instead of working with her, Bank of America offered to INCREASE her monthly mortgage payment in a letter that began “You are on your way to a more affordable mortgage payment.” "I work for a living and I can pay a mortgage," says Grace. "But I cannot afford the inflated mortgage that I've been forced into, and I certainly can’t afford an increase to my monthly payment! Bank of America has the power and authority to save my home with the stroke of a pen. In fact, banks have the power to save the homes of all 100,000 NJ homeowners facing foreclosure this year by simply working with homeowners on principal write-downs." Surely Bank of America can do better for Grace – at the very least they should be better at math.383 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Trina Scordo

Support Contraception Education in South CarolinaApproximately 17 teens give birth in South Carolina everyday and in 2008 the state paid approximately $198 million dollars on teen pregnancy. Teen mothers are more likely to live in poverty and survive on public assistance. Contraceptive education can help to prevent these issues. These are the facts: (from the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy) *6,024 teens aged 15-19 gave birth in 2011 *26% of these were already teen parents *20% of teen pregnancies in 2010 ended in abortion *57% percent of high school students have reported that they have had sex Endorsing a comprehensive sexual education program that includes abstinence but also promotes proper contraception use can benefit the cause of ending teen pregnancy.325 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Virginia Hornbeck
