• Beauty industry in exile
As beauty industry we are in the fight of our lives to be able to stay in business many of our salons will close when this is over. In Wisconsin many Cosmetologist/ nail technicians have been without a paycheck or any income since Friday March 20th at 5 pm when we were given 1 hour and 47 minutes notice to close our salon at 5 pm on a Friday Indefinitely .We are not eligible for regular unemployment and have NOT been able to file for the emergency unemployment until April 25 that is over 5 weeks without income or revenue coming into our businesses. The small business loans that were supposedly designed to help us out seem to have fallen short of reaching that potential and many booth renters will not be eligible for either. According to statement issued unemployment will only cover a percentage of net income and as all beauty industry people are aware we have a lot expenses that come off our gross income products , rent , electric, gas ect. According to these numbers some people eligible will only get $100 even with the $600 supposedly added on. Remember a large percentage of hairstylist are single parents that are the Head of Households and main providers. Alot of educated professional stylist will have to go elsewhere to provide for there families and start other professions, As an industry we are essential for mental health in how we make people feel and look. Elected political leaders and t.v journalist of our state have proven that by continuing to get beauty services while the rest of the population has been told they were not allowed. If you look on Social media and television most of post and jokes are about how bad we are all going to look after this is over. This is undeniable proof that we are VERY IMPORTANT and ESSENTIAL for mental health. If you look good you feel good and if you don’t want to come in and have services performed you don’t have to. Many of our local and State politicians have had haircuts and beauty services performed under the guise that they are a Public Figure. I am asking everyone to please sign the petition to allow us to make you beautiful if you personally do not want to “risk it “ at least allow others to have the freedom too, Save a dying industry from extinction or at least help us to let our voices be heard . We are tax paying and registered voters like the rest and we should have the same respect. Last comment is restaurants and bars were given over 24 hours to close but were allowed to stay to open with limited menu and services so they could at least generate income. Bars and restaurants were given permission to sell closed containers of alcohol to go (ex. Margarita’s and beers)We were COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN IN 1 hour and 47minutes with NO limited services or Hair care products to be sold, Help us Hrlp You! Save yourselves from homemade Haircuts and Box dye!

  • Wyoming - please allow salons to open with client restrictions and precautions
Most of the salons in Wyoming fall under the 10 person limit set forth by the governor and if we require a limit on salon capacity and require each salon/independent contractor to submit a written description of what precautions and procedures they will put into effect of allowed to reopen. Most of us have been out of work for at least 4 week, and have faced many financial hardships, it is important to many of us to get back to working. Please help us get through this tough time. We can be safe and productive.

  • Open hair salons, one client at a time.
Servicing one client at a time (while wearing a mask & gloves) poses little to no risk of spreading the virus, as compared to 20 or more people in a grocery store or 10 plus people at restaurants picking up food.
