The War on Women Stops in MichiganWe were caught by surprise when we learned that "Super-Anti Abortion" bills from the Michigan House of Representatives were being fast tracked through a committee hearing and to voting on the floor. In just one week, House Bills 5711 - 5713 were approved by a committee that refused to hear testimony against the bills and made it to the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives. The day that these bills were supposed to be voted on, Michigan women flooded their capital and made their voices heard. The impact was strong enough for the legislators to slate voting for another day. Two days later, HB 5711 was voted in. During this voting session, two representatives spoke out against the bill and found themselves prohibited from speaking during the next session, even on topics not pertaining to abortion or women's rights. This silenced not only these representatives, but also their constituents. The women of Michigan will not be silent, despite the attempts of the bills' supporters to shut down dissenters. They spoke out again at the capital steps Monday, June 18 by hosting Eve Ensler and Michigan representatives that voted against these bills in a short notice, but heavily attended, rendition of the Vagina Monologues. These bills are only the most recent of state government attacks on women's health and reproductive rights. They have been called the most restrictive anti-abortion bills yet, and they would effectively shut down the vast majority of abortion clinics in the state. At each step, those that disagree with this set of bills have been silenced and ignored, but they are still shouting to make their voices heard. Please join us in telling the Governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder, and the Michigan Senate that attempting to silence the voices against these bills is undemocratic.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Laura Carlson

WalMart No Mas!A former WalMart executive described how Wal-Mart de Mexico had orchestrated a campaign of bribery to win market dominance. In its rush to build stores, he said, the company had paid bribes to obtain permits in virtually every corner of the country. WalMart's leaders shut down an investigation. Under fire from labor critics, worried about press leaks and facing a sagging stock price, Wal-Mart’s leaders recognized that the allegations could have devastating consequences, documents and interviews show.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dan McCrory

Overturn Citizens UnitedThe influence of big corporate money in politics is undermining our democracy. The solution we want to see is a constitutional amendment saying that money isn't speech and corporations aren't people. I'm especially concerned because my two kids will be going to public school soon, and tax breaks for the 1% are cutting off resources for our public schools. The only way that will ever really change is with campaign finance reform, starting with overturning Citizens United.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Steven Biel

Justice for DadrianMy 14 yr old Nephew was accused of being a party to a crime. While walking through the neighborhood with a small group of teens. While in their presence, some of the other teens assaulted and robbed another teen. When arrested his name was given as being a party to a crime. After months of court dates, Dadrian was sentenced to 12 months at a youth detention Center on a first offense conviction. Dadrian's only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong group of people. While this may certainly be seen as being punishable, His sentence is not suitable to his crime. Dadrian is a smart, young youth who has always respected his peers, elderly, and environment. He is also an honor roll student who participates frequently in after school and extracurricular activities. Being raised by a single mom he helps take care of his two younger siblings and attends church regularly. Dadrian is a strong young man who stands up for what he believes in and an even stronger man because he stands up for others. Even in doing so, consequently, he was wrongly accused based on his environment at the time instead of his environment as a whole.227 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Keisha Spriggs

Get bigots out of Congress and the SenateFor far too long, there has been a monopoly of Caucasions in power, in Washington DC that have used partison politics as a cover for their racism. If you display hate in your heart for someone because of the color of their skin, you have no business making decisions for the people of the United States.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robert Shackelford

CONGRESS: WE WANT YOUR HEALTHCAREIf one is lucky enough to have a job, and one with health benefits , these benefits are usually lost when we retire. When a member of Congress serves one term, he/she and their families gets benefits for life. Studies have shown that the stress created by simply worrying about lack of healthcare can bring on illness. It is time to end this inequity. Please sign this petition and urge Congress to apportion a small percentage of the corporate profits that line their pockets to provide us with the healthcare we deserve.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Deborah Covi

"Stop the Racism in Indiana by Police Officers and State Troopers"My name is Norman and I'm African American and a senior citizen on June 2nd 2012 I was driving from Chicago, IL to Ohio to visit a sick relative. While driving thru Indiana I was pulled over by an police officer in Plymouth, Indiana. He claimed I was speeding, he asked for my credentials, drivers license, registration and insurance. I gave all documents which were current and up to date. Even though I knew I was not speeding I still remained courteous and polite. I was then informed I was going to be arrested for reckless driving. Since the other passengers in the car did not have a valid drivers license my vehicle was towed and impounded. Officer stated that if I had $250.00 dollars I could bond out within the hour, and to retreive my vehicle would be $100.00. after a lot of harrassment I then bounded out and was informed my bond would be $1,650.00 because people from out of state never come back. After paying the bond, I went to retreived my vehicle and was informed that I had to pay $300.00 to get my car, even though it was less than 2 hours later I was charged a storage fee, a gate fee and an extra $100.00 for Monday even though it was saturday at 3:45pm, because the tow/impound person stated he could be at home and we would have waited until monday anyway and he was doing us a favor. He also stated that he was surprised I was arrested because usually they let people go with a warning. I was traumatized as well my 79 year old mother who was also in the vehicle we are both senior citizens. Even though they never said the "N" word it was written all over the faces of everyone we came in contact with. We felt a lot of anger and hate. I was never read my rights and I had no warrants out for my arrest. This has got to stop, many african americans are harassed while driving thru Indiana. My court date is coming up and I'm very reluctant to return to this location. I felt like I went back in time and never expected to encounter anything like this in this current day and age.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marguerite Hunter
