• Fair Social Security Contributions
It would eliminate the limit for FICA with-holdings and require that such with-holdings be paid on all income. Presently, any income over~ $106,000 per year is exempt from FICA. This change would require high income earners to pay the same percentage as everyone else and would help solve any real or perceived issues of solvency of the SS Trust fund.

  • Freddie Mac: Help your underwater borrowers
Recently the federal government and 49 state attorneys general concluded a settlement with the country’s five largest mortgage loan servicers that forces them to do more for their underwater borrowers. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are not parties to this settlement despite the fact that they own billions of dollars of underwater mortgage loans. We are calling on President Obama to force these quasi-government agencies to follow the terms of the settlement.

  • Oil and gasoline prices need to be lowered by government control
Gasoline and oil prices are double what they were a year ago. Even last year rich oil barrons were making billioms in profits and now they are quadrupling profits at the AMerican tax payers expense. Many American soldiers have sacrificed and died to protect oil american interests. We Americans have every right to control fuel prices. Many politcians, like Obama, receive lucrative donations from oil companies to ensure they control prices. It is time for American mass to control oil prices. Did you know Venesualians pay less than one dollar per gallon. For our country,s sake , please sign this petition to cut gasoline costs in half. We need 50 signatures by November 2012.

  • Follow up by military for vets with PTSD
Both my sons are vet of Iraq - the youngest ( NC Army National Guard) who was there in 2005-2006, has 70% disability rating for PTSD. The military has done little except throw $$ at him (where is the follow thru with counceling; a contact person to call when he goes "soldier mode" besides me, his mother?) I have called numerous times, going up the list, thru the chain of command and made it to the 2nd in command in NC where we live - she, a major, got an attitude with me! After I informed her that I out-rank her being an "Army Mom x2", she gave me a chaplin's number who never returned my call........that was about 3 yrs ago! Still, my son can go off out of the blue; has been in numerous fights ( some he instagated, some not); arrested numerous times (assault on an officer x 6 at one time because if you try to subdue him, he goes crazy - a soldier is taught to fight to the death and being 6', maybe 160 lbs - I've seen him defend himself against 4 officers, 2 security guards - all with his jaw broken in 4 places(!) due to an altercation with 2 seniors while at college. He was expelled asap from this state funded college with me receiving a call that he has NO right to be on this college campus since he has been taught hand to hand combat.........after he drove himself to a VA hosp (an hour away) and they couldn't handle this type of emergency surgery; he was taken via EMS to a bigger civilian hosp for surgery. After a few days admission, his older brother, a career soldier, stayed by his side and took him back to his campus apartment and stood as his security guard because he was in no shape to travel to return home at that time. To make matters worse - he was billed for the civilian hosp bill when since the VA couldn't handle his care, the military was responsible for any bills. This is just ONE of the many situations he had been involved in. I could go on for days!

  • DOL's Press Lock-ups Policy Could Restrict Press Freedom
The Sunshine in Government Initiative (SGI), a coalition of media organizations that includes the Online News Association, the world’s largest membership organization of digital journalists, is asking the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to reconsider its new Press Lock-ups Policy, which could "inhibit the quality, accuracy and independence of news reporting." Under the DOL’s new policy participants would be required to remove their software, hardware, and dedicated lines from the DOL by June 15, 2012. Reporters would be required to use only government-owned software and hardware. The use of modern news-producing software would be prohibited. All transmission would be via the internet, not via a secure, redundant line. The DOL would own and operate the data lines, internet access and internet connections. As the government grows more concerned about cybersecurity, the proposed policy would create a single point of failure. The letter asks the DOL to reconsider or delay implementing the policy until it receives more input from the public and affected media.

  • Renter's Beware..Do you know when the last time your home was inspected..toxic mold, faulty wiring...
The steps at my old complex I thought were perfectly fine until the middle of one broke and I went falling down the stairs. I ended up not able to walk without a brace on my foot for more than 6months. The owner's brushed me off and told me that there insurance would take care of it, but did not offer any information. This is when I called and got a lawyer involved. I also took my doctor's advice and had an outside company come in and inspect my dwelling. The inspector noticed immediately mold growing behind my walls in the bathroom and pointed out a hole that showed the mold eating the wall. He also pointed out sections of the wall that had been replaced prior to me moving in that had been painted over. There was also a defective seal at the base of the toilet that was defective and leaking under the floor. High concentrations of 2/3 toxic black molds and a low concentration of the third. The city of Oakland specialty/combination services came to the property and noted several violations. But since I am now currently in litigation, the city would only fine the owners until certain repairs are completes. Problem with that is the city wont take my outside agency report and wont send there own people to investigate all of the owners properties. They wont even make him notify the other tenents in the building where I was living that they could be living within toxic conditions related to owners failure to keep his property safe. Owner's of rental properties should by law be required to have an inspection every year to maintain a safe living environment for individuals and families and children and elderly. Prevention is a risk reward that in the end is really a win win for everybody. No one else's child should have to have 2 inhalers, air purifier, humidifier, just to sleep because the property owner hid problems with the apartment I ended up renting from him. My son will be 2 in July and I still tell him I'm sorry because I didn't see what was purposefully hidden from me. Maybe if when I give the landlord 1st last; security; and months rent; he should give me a form that says when the establishment last had an inspection.

  • Repeal Marijuana Prohibition in Michigan
Legalize marijuana/cannabis for any person over the age of 21. Make cannabis/marijuana legally accessible to curtail the black market and the gang wars taking place in southwestern U.S., but affecting the whole country. Replace with facts the untruths spread by the government to keep their drug agencies flowing with money from innocent people through asset forfeiture. Tax and regulate like alcohol but still allow for personal cultivation with no limitations on amounts grown. Allow for hemp crops to be grown in the U.S. and replace big oil. Anything that crude oil can make the cannabis/marijuana plant can provide and them some. Here is a way for unregistered voters to let their voice be heard.

Lets eliminate the Electoral College. With modern technology we don't need the middle man anymore. The Electoral College no longer serves a purpose other than to muddy the election process and make some states more important than others.
