58 nonviolent activists were swept up in a mass arrest by Petaluma police last month and charged with felonies for trying to give food and water to starving animals at the largest organic poultry producer in the nation. The farm owners yelled homophobic slurs, threatened to run us over with a truck, and were so aggressive that the police pulled out a taser to stop them from hurting us. Yet instead of addressing the animal cruelty at the farm -- or the threats and aggression of the farm owners -- the officers arrested dozens of activists, demanded $20,000 bail for each, and issued a press release falsely accusing the activists of violence. They also made mocking comments on social media in support of the industry and, despite promises to give the animals care, had all the starving animals killed. This abuse of the law cannot continue. Ask Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch to prosecute animal cruelty and drop the charges against nonviolent animal rescuers.

The most vicious and lethal anti-Semitic hate crime in American history was carried out at a Pittsburgh synagogue, by a shooter ranting about the migrant caravan. Instead of bringing the country together, Donald Trump has responded by throwing a match on the kindling. Again. Rather than tamping down on racial polarization and hate speech, Donald Trump is doubling down — pointing fingers, stoking fears, and inflaming passions. Tomorrow night, he will give a speech cracking down on the border and demagoguing against migrants seeking a safer place to live. There are already extremist groups talking about meeting the migrants on the border with guns and violence. This speech will push our country further toward the brink. Please tell Donald Trump: CANCEL this speech. A small group of refugees fleeing instability in Central America does not represent an existential threat to us, the strongest nation on earth. But forces of division, hatred, and violence might.

The massacre of 11 Jews in a Pittsburgh synagogue comes at a time when the Trump administration, the Republican Party and their enablers — at all levels — have fomented hate, fear, and white nationalism in our country. They have targeted the Muslim community, immigrants and refugees, people of color, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ people, and in recent weeks we have seen a marked escalation in their use of antisemitic images, rhetoric and conspiracy theories. The Trump administration, the Republican Party and their enablers have provoked violence against our communities. Our blood is on their hands. It is time to rise up together to demand our safety. We refuse to be divided. We refuse to be isolated from each other. We will outlive their hatred. There is a widespread deterioration of journalism, news media, and news broadcasting within Fox News and Fox News affiliate stations that is corroding the protections of the first amendment of the United States. Racial equity is about applying justice and a little bit of common sense to a system that’s been out of balance. When a system is out of balance, people of color feel the impacts most acutely, but, to be clear, an imbalanced system makes all of us pay. By immediately adopting a racial equity policy and curriculum, our school systems will create a greater balance that benefits all stakeholders.

Under Article 1, Section 5, of the US Constitution it is stated that each house may determine the rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior and with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member. Within the US House of Representatives and the US Senate, various members of Congress must be expelled for dereliction of duty, promoting propaganda, lying to the American people, aiding a foreign adversary, producing deceptive documents to the American public, inciting a riot and violating civil rights laws. All members guilty of these offenses must be expelled from the US House of Representatives and US Senate.

As a high school student, it's not fair to let standardized tests determine my future, especially when tests are not designed for individuals with poor testing skills. Standardized testings should at least be reduced for students.
