Change the Way Essex High School Calculates GPAWhen EHS converts number grades to a GPA, it uses a system that is different than all other local high schools. For example, if a student has a 90 average at CVU, they have a GPA of 3.67. However, if a student has a 90 average at EHS, they have a GPA of 3.1. A student who has an 83 average at CVU has a 3.0 GPA, but at EHS that student has a 2.1. This is unfair and hurts Essex students when they apply to college, try to get jobs, or apply for scholarships. Our hard work deserves to be recognized.180 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Brendyn Byrne

Support of requirement for bicyclists in Vermont to register their bikes to ride on public roadsTo support S196, which requires bicyclists over the age of 18 who are Vermont residents, to register their bikes. This would require these operators to become knowledgeable of their responsibilities and their rights when riding on Vermont public roads.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brian Huyler

Stop Medicaid work requirements from taking health care away from poor people"Among the adult Medicaid enrollees who were not working, most report major impediments to their ability to work including illness or disability or care-giving responsibilities. While proponents of work requirements say such provisions aim to promote work for those who are not working, these policies could have negative implications on many who are working or exempt from the requirements." Tell Congress: Denounce Trump's Racist Immigration CommentsThe history of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. (PNBC) denomination is grounded in social justice and civil liberties advocacy. As Pastor of Greater Christ Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan and the 20th President of the PNBC, I am calling for our church family along with other black denominations and individuals across America to ask Congress to strongly condemn the latest racist comments made by Donald Trump in reference to immigration. To refer to Haiti and African countries as “sh**-hole” countries whose people should not be allowed to immigrate to this country in favor of Norwegians is nothing short of overt unabashed racism. Unfortunately, Trump has made similar racist statements before. During his campaign, he referred to Mexicans as criminals, drug lords, and rapists. Trump failed to condemn the KKK, white supremacists, and neo-Nazis for their racist protest in Charlottesville, VA last year. Instead, he called them “very fine people” and referred to those who stood up to them as troublemakers. The dreadful picture that Trump paints and wants all of America to believe pertaining to immigrants in the United States is a false narrative. Instead of criminals and unemployed thieves, immigrants are highly educated and play an important and vital role in the productivity of our society. According to the Migration Policy Institute, in 2014, 10.5 million immigrants had a college degree or higher, representing about 29 percent of the total 36.7 million U.S. foreign-born population ages 25 and over. Furthermore, the rates at which immigrants obtain college degrees outpace the rate of native-born Americans. Between 2000 and 2014, the college-educated immigrant population increased 78 percent from 5.9 million to 10.5 million. The native-born college-educated population grew over the same period by only 39 percent. Of the college-educated immigrant population, 25% are Hispanic or black. Additionally, immigrants constitute a part of the workforce that keeps America productive and healthy. In 2014, immigrants accounted for 16 percent of all civilian employed workers, including 32 percent of computer programmers, and nearly 26 percent of physicians. It is not enough that Trump says these bigoted words and suffers no consequences. Rather, he is developing policies on the basis of race that will hurt people of color for years to come. It is time for us to respond! I am calling on all people of goodwill, who believe that our country should uphold the tenets of honesty and decency, to contact their congresspersons, Republican and Democrat, and demand that they denounce Trump for these bigoted and divisive statements. We want every pastor across denominations to ask their church members to contact local political representatives in support of denouncing Trump’s hateful rhetoric. The Republican Party leadership have been grave disappointments in their pledge to honor our country (whose motto is In God We Trust) by failing to condemn Trump for his continued racist and divisive comments that erode our democracy. Our mandate will be galvanizing communities to participate in the upcoming midterm elections. We must elect people to Congress who have our best interests at heart. As the denominational home of Dr. King, PNBC will lead by example and honor his life and legacy by standing up, speaking out, and actively engaging our 2,000 churches to fight back against racism and for impartiality and fairness. “You know my friends, there comes a time when people get tired of being trampled by the iron feet of oppression…” —Martin Luther King, Jr., Address to the first Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA) Mass Meeting, at Holt Street Baptist Church, Dec. 5, 1955 NOW IS THE TIME! About PNBC The Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. (PNBC) was founded in 1961 to give full voice, sterling leadership, and active support to the American and world fight for human freedom. New generations of Progressive Baptists are continuing the struggle for full voter registration, education and participation in society, economic empowerment and development, and the realization of universal human rights and total liberation for all people. PNBC’s global membership is estimated to be 2.5 million people. For more information, visit www.pnbc.org.395 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Rev. Dr. James C. Nationwide and Federal Petition for legalization.I believe the sale and use of marijuana is not only going to help the medically inclined people who smoke or eat the bud for its medical effect. But I believe as well the sale and taxes upon growth, distribution and sales of marijuana will pull the USA out of debt. Also, the by-products such as hemp we can use in almost all applications, whether food, building, art, or other commercial use will help our earth, our environment, and our living matters. By the federal government, marijuana is bad for people. Really? And alcohol and tobacco are killing thousands a day? And not only killing us but children. Fetal alcohol syndrome, FAS, is no joke and it's happening a lot thanks to the US government. Wow! That's good population control; let's kill or give unborn children problems because alcohol is safe and it okayed by the government. I have never seen women have a birth defect or give birth to a baby with problems when they smoke marijuana the whole time they were pregnant. Let's just end this battle, the war on drugs. Make Marijuana legal; it's that simple.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Benjamin Sayler

Censure President Donald TrumpAs an American citizen, I was disheartened by the remarks recently made by President Trump as it regards Africa and Haiti. True he has used his twitter account to insult, name-call and bully others since he was elected, but enough is enough. Some punitive action should be taken by our sitting Congress. This is not a party matter; it is an American matter.398 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Susanne Brown

Defensive Driving LawAggressive and distracted driving is on the rise in this hectic society. Autonomous vehicles are not yet here. We need to penalize drivers who drive rashly and aggressively, as well as provide a revenue source for the state from drivers who are at-fault while helping keep our insurance premiums low. At fault drivers such as : (i) those who rear-end others, (ii) those who are at-fault drivers in an accident (e.g., as determined from in-vehicle dash-cams), should be penalized $1000 for being the source of an accident. Such accidents: (a) disrupting the schedule of other travelers (due to significant delays) resulting from a traffic jam, (b) applying stress on tax-payer system resources (ambulance, fire, police) especially when these resources would be better used elsewhere. By including this penalty, everyone benefits in terms of defensive driving, facilitates lower premiums, and provides income to the state.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sunil Bharitkar

MO Gov. Eric Greitens must resignEric Greitens has proven himself to be corrupt, dishonest and possibly a sexual predator who has no business being in elected office. We the citizens of the state of Missouri deserve, and demand, good, honest people serving in office. It is time, PAST time, that we hold elected officials responsible for their actions, especially those who claim the mantle of "family values" candidates, regardless of party.54 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kerri Levine

Trump Must Apologize to Haiti, all African Nations and people of African descentThe views expressed by the President do not reflect the views of people in the United States. Once again his words and behaviors show he does not represent the beliefs of the majority of the United States. His actions have destroyed or severely harmed relationships with others around the world. He must apologize as he is also putting many lives in danger by his words and deeds.99 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kristina Wolff
