• Stand with Nissan Workers: Sign the Solidarity Pledge
Thousands of Nissan auto workers in Canton, Mississippi—80 percent of whom are African-American—have had enough. They endure dangerous working conditions, bullying by management, punishing production demands, and long hours. That’s why Nissan workers will soon vote on whether to unionize, despite underhanded interference from management. The company is already waging an incredibly hostile campaign of intimidation and pressure against union supporters. Nissan has union representation at every one of its 45 manufacturing plants around the world, except for the three plants in the American South. Southern workers should not be denied the rights that all other Nissan workers around the globe can exercise. This campaign of intimidation and pressure from the company must end. Tell Nissan to stop standing in the way of its workers’ right to unionize!

  • #DefundHate: Defund the Detention and Deportation Machine!
In his 2018 proposed budget, Trump has requested A LOT more money to fund the detention and deportation of immigrants, including: • funds to hire new ICE and Border Patrol agents to terrorize our communities, • more local police to focus on immigration enforcement, • a massive increase in immigrant detention—the equivalent of locking up the entire population of New Orleans over the course of a year, • $1.6 billion to build a southern border wall, and • further border militarization including aircraft and surveillance technology At the same time, the administration is seeking drastic cuts to vital housing, education, nutrition, and health care programs that help communities grow and thrive together, and is threatening to take away programs like DACA and Temporary Protected Status, which would subject hundreds of thousands more people to deportation. Congress is taking action on this budget right now. The bill in the House of Representatives gives Trump almost all of what he asked for, even though ICE and CBP have put the detention and deportation machine on steroids, regularly lie, hide information from the American public, and retaliate against anyone who speaks out. Join us in demanding your Representative and Senators #DefundHate by publicly calling for significant cuts to the detention and deportation machine, and voting NO on any bill which wastes any money on this unaccountable and abusive system.

  • Proposed Cell Installation ASG33 on Chartres Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes
I find the proposed cell transmitter(s) (ASG33) on Chartres Drive and Cartier Dr. in Rancho Palos Verdes to incommode my use of my property and the street in the proper senses that it would be situated right next to my property. It will cause inconvenience, distress and/or worry me when passing even near the transmitter pole, let alone living right next to it or walking under and adjacent to the transmitter itself on Cartier Drive and Chartres Drive. The proposed cell transmitter(s) will be ugly, will transmit radio waves at significant intensity to many residents' homes and bodies (including children), and will decrease property values. There is great health concerns for electric and magnetic fields (EMF) and radio frequency (RF) exposure from the cell tower. I am also against the transmitter(s) on aesthetic grounds, and possibly other grounds as well.

  • NRA - Stop inciting violence toward protesters
I am outraged that the NRA would air a commercial that in a very unsubtle manner advocates violence toward protesters! How does this help a country that is already divided by racist, xenophobic, misogynistic beliefs advocated by our president who should be leading by example? Well, I am a peaceful protester and will continue to protest against all of the policies I believe are unethical. I will not be scared off by the NRA or our backward administration. The First Amendment protects peaceful protests. We should all stand up to those who would silence us!

  • Betsy Devos: Listen to survivors, not rape deniers
Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos wants to dismantle protections for campus sexual assault survivors. Last week she met with rape-deniers and so-called "men's rights activists" to help her do it, and her top civil rights official, Candice Jackson, called campus sexual assault survivors liars. Jackson told the New York Times, "the accusations — 90 percent of them — fall into the category of ‘we were both drunk,’ ‘we broke up, and six months later I found myself under a Title IX investigation because she just decided that our last sleeping together was not quite right.’" The next day DeVos sat down with groups like the National Coalition for Men, who are known for blaming rape survivors for their assaults and publishing personal information about them, so survivors are harassed and intimidated into dropping their cases. The Department’s true colors are showing. If Secretary DeVos faces a huge backlash after these meetings, we'll put her on notice that we won't stand by while she works with rape apologists to dismantle protections for sexual assault survivors. Will you add your name now to demand Secretary DeVos start listening to survivors, not rape apologists?

  • Tell Scott Pruitt: Save our clean water!
Repealing the Clean Water Rule is shortsighted and flies in the face of public opinion. More than 800,000 Americans supported the Clean Water Rule when it was proposed. It is grounded in science and the law. It is an essential tool to help us to get to goal of ensuring all of our waters are swimmable, fishable, and drinkable.

  • Send a message to Trump and his "voter fraud" commission that we won't let our voting rights be t...
This week, Trump’s voter suppression commission is meeting for the first time. Before they’ve even met, this commission is causing voters to unregister and compromising people’s privacy. Over two weeks ago, this commission asked all 50 states for personal information of voters under the guise of “election integrity”, I refused to comply with this request. Any attempts to suppress voters is a direct threat to our democracy. I do not trust this commission because everything surrounding it has indicated that its only goal is to suppress voters. Even before their first meeting, they are already achieving that. Voters in Colorado, Florida, and North Carolina are seeking to unregister so that their information isn’t sent to this commission. No voter should ever have to fear that registering to vote risks their privacy. Every voter who cancels their registration is a victory for Trump. We cannot let this happen. We all have a responsibility to speak up and stand up. As President, Trump should be protecting your rights. Let’s pledge through this action to do everything our our power to defend our privacy and voting rights. This fight is going to be tough, but I’m certain that if we work together over the next several months and years, we can protect our democracy and resist Trump’s dangerous voter suppression agenda.

  • SENATORS: Work Together To Guarantee Affordable Access to Health Care For All
We all know the Republican Party insists on repeal of The ACA, aka "ObamaCare"... the name attached to the bill by them. The ACA is not failing. According to new analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation, insurers in the ACA marketplaces earned more than double what they earned in a similar period in the previous three years. Stop this insane, fake repeal effort of the ACA and join forces to amend and improve the ACA. Hold Hearings, listen to Health Care Providers, Health Care Insurers, Health Care advocacy Groups, and Health Care Users - not just politicians. Re-name the amended bill whatever you can agree upon. Some suggested options: 1) Provide a means for all insured in all states to access a group health care insurance plan such as the Federal Employee Health Care Plan and a Federal Health Care Exchange such as the one available to Senators and Representatives 2) Establish an ongoing commission to negotiate health care costs and pharmaceutical costs Include a requirement for the federal government to negotiate health care costs for Medicaid, Medicare, TriCare, VA, ACA(?) and all other Federally funded health care costs 3) Medicaid funding must be adequate to cover the costs of nursing home care and health care for the indigent elderly, children, and all those at or near the poverty level 4) All state plans, state waivers and health care insurance plans must include coverage of pre-existing conditions at no additional cost to the insured Suggested additional changes to the amended bill: 1) Keep the Individual Mandate to purchase insurance it is essential to a viable Health Insurance Market Place 2) Help American corporations compete internationally - relieve all employers of health care costs 3) Require all Senators, Representatives and their staffs to enroll in one of their respective state health care exchange plans

  • Force Roll Call on Davidson-Nolan Bars to U.S. Role in Saudi War in Yemen
On July 14, 2017, the U.S. House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to prohibit U.S. military participation in the Saudi-UAE war in Yemen, when it passed the Davidson and Nolan amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act [NDAA]. [1] U.S. media largely failed to cover these House votes. This partly reflects misplaced media priorities - if they had been votes concerning Trump's relationship with Russia, U.S. media would have covered them obsessively - but also reflects that these prohibitions were adopted by voice vote, without a roll call forcing Members to attach their names to their votes. Contested votes draw more attention from the media. Urge House Members to use the Department of Defense Appropriation to force roll call votes on the Davidson-Nolan prohibitions against U.S. participation in the Saudi war in Yemen by signing our petition. • Monopoly on medical marijuana licenses in Florida~Number 18 is mine!
The Florida Department of Health Office of Medical Marijuana Use rules to become a medical marijuana license holder in the State of Florida are discriminatory and have created a monopoly with the citrus growers. Thanks to 71% of the voters last year, we now have Medical Marijuana in Florida, but not under reasonable terms that everyone knows about. Currently, there are 17 "lucky" license holders and below is the reason why this system is so very wrong. There's all this talk about Medical Marijuana in the newspapers and on TV, but if you speak to your average person on the street they have no clue how this is playing out! I, like many other talented and Marijuana University certified individuals in the art of growing, dispensing, and extracting cannabis, have been denied access to a license in my own state due to a small group of people holding all the cards which is why I deem it discriminatory and illegal. Florida has decided that only citrus growers of "more than 400,00 plants" which "have been operated as a registered nursery in this state for at least 30 continuous years" are eligible to apply for a license to grow, extract and distribute medical marijuana. So, tell me, what do oranges have to do with marijuana? Remember folks, the licenses include not only the cultivation of plants but also the dispensing and extraction of low THC cannabis. Now I, along with many others, have experience in this field while these fine orange growers may or may not. I feel the statute is discriminatory and takes away my right to open a cannabis business in my home state by not allowing me to apply for a license. I have the talent; I have the knowledge; and if the voters were aware of this monopoly, I am sure I'd have supporters! I am calling for the Florida Legislature to enact the state's constitutional amendment by re-opening and expanding the application process for myself and other similarly knowledgeable persons to be able to apply for a license in the state of Florida.
