  • The Election Assistance Commission
The demise of the Election Assistance Commission has gone under-reported on news networks (save MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show), yet its functioning is imperative for honest, reliable elections all over the US. Please sign to show that the American public will not accept this obliteration of truth.

  • Bring SB 562 to the floor of the Assembly!
Senate Bill 562, the Healthy California Act, has been passed by the State Senate. This is an opportunity for us to bring healthcare access to all Californians, and to be a proving ground for a national Medicare-for-all-style single payer healthcare system. But Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon has shelved the bill, preventing it from reaching the Assembly floor for a vote - or even to allow discussion of possible amendments to address whatever concerns Speaker Rendon or other Assembly Members may have about the bill. We demand that Speaker Rendon bring SB 562 to the Assembly floor.

  • @TomColeOK04, @MichaelCBurgess: Allow House votes on ending U.S. aid to Saudi war in Yemen
This week the House is considering amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act. The House Rules Committee will decide which amendments will get House floor votes. Amendments have been offered which would end U.S. refueling of Saudi warplanes bombing Yemen [1], ban the transfer of cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia [2], and block U.S. weapons transfers to Saudi Arabia until it ends its blockade that is pushing Yemen into famine. [3] Representative Tom Cole [R-OK-4] is Vice-Chair of the House Rules Committee. [4] Rep. Cole has been outspoken on the need for Congress to debate and vote on matters of war and peace. Rep. Cole has been an outspoken supporter of the Barbara Lee [D-CA] amendment to sunset the 2001 authorization of the use of force to compel the House leadership to allow a debate and vote on a new AUMF. [5] Representative Michael Burgess [R-TX-26] is another Republican member of the House Rules Committee. [6] A doctor, he was the only Republican member of the Rules Committee who voted last year to bar the transfer of cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia. [7] Urge Rep. Cole and Rep. Burgess to use their positions on the House Rules Committee to allow House votes on ending U.S. participation in the Saudi war in Yemen by signing our petition. • Repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force
We fly drones over seven predominately Muslim countries, killing many civilians who are no threat to us while talk of Muslim terrorists is all over the news. To me this is the most risky thing going on in the world. It breaks my heart that the majority of my taxes go to war and the military.

  • Support the Oversight Commission on Presidential Capacity
President Trump's consistent invention of facts, late-night erratic tweets, raffish demeanor and bizarre outburst are not just unseemly, but unhealthy on many levels and ultimately dangerous to the American people as a community and in the eyes of the world. Donald Trump is not fit to be president of any country, nevertheless the greatest country in the modern world.

  • New York Medicare for All
We went without insurance for ten years and it was financially devastating when my wife and I got injured. ACA did not go far enough as we could not afford it. Medicare saved my mother and father in laws home when she was struck by a car on the sidewalk and he fell down the stairs helping her when she finally came home with broken neck, back, and pelvis. New York can have Medicare for all if our elected representatives show some guts and sponsor legislation and bills in the State House and Senate and Governor Cuomo signs it into law.

  • Don't Assist the Trump-Kobach Voter Suppression Commission
Donald Trump created the "Commission on Election Integrity" to legitimize his lies about voter fraud, and to advance Republican efforts to suppress the votes of people of color, young people and others. Trump named Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, the leader in the national vote suppression effort, to serve as vice chair, alongside Vice President Mike Pence. Now Kobach has asked states to submit personal information on every voter to his commission. There’s every reason to suspect that Kobach aims to nationalize his “Crosscheck” program, which has been used in several states to disqualify large numbers of eligible voters on pretextual grounds. Hacking of the data also poses a massive privacy risk and, according to Michael Chertoff, secretary of Homeland Security in the Bush administration, a national security risk, as well. While some states have already stood up to Trump’s sham commission, many have agreed to partially comply. We need each and every state to reject this unprecedented request entirely.

  • Stop the Trump/Putin Working Group on Cybersecurity
I am concerned that the Working Group on Cybersecurity that Trump has formed by agreement with Vladimir Putin will work to facilitate hacking of future U.S. elections. It certainly will not accomplish deterrence of future Russian attacks. That requires strong actions. It may well serve as a conduit for providing Putin with data and information that can facilitate future cyberattacks. Congress has to put a stop to this.

  • Costco: Stop Torturing Baby Pigs!
Despite Costco's commitment to end the use of cruel gestation crates by 2017, a recent open rescue investigation into a Costco supplier revealed most mother pigs trapped in tiny gestation crates, unable to assist as their babies were slowly dying. Furthermore, activists found dying baby pigs piled up inside crowded farrowing crates, covered in blood and excrement, and up to 1/3 of them will die before even reaching slaughter. Shockingly, piglets whose mothers are mutilated by years of abuse are sometimes forced to drink their mother's blood in order to survive.

  • Retract Your Request to Phase Out the DACA Program
I affirm that Arkansans stand WITH, not against, the approximately 8,000 Arkansan youth who have already received or will soon be eligible for DACA. The phasing out of the DACA program would have detrimental, negative effects on our communities as well as our Arkansas economy, which has benefited from the skills and talents of these bi-cultural, bi-literate individuals as well as the additional tax, consumption, loan and entrepreneurial/ innovation revenue that our DACAmented have brought to our state. Arkansas is a state that believes in enabling the potential of all its children, including our DREAMers, because when we hold back some of our youth, we hold back ALL of our youth. The Supreme Court has already ruled on the legality of the original 2012 DACA program, and I do not want to see our state or nation go down this road again. Arkansas WANTS to see DACA further renewed and expanded, NOT terminated.
