We are currently seeing the direct results of what can happen with low voter turnout. The GOP will not govern effectively, they will prioritize violent roll backs of any progress that we have made thus far to protect marginalized communities and they will build their platforms around doing so. If this makes you angry, turn your anger to action. A few districts have already spoken out against the ruling, but we need more. We need widespread outrage at this new proposed legislation to prevent it from going through. We need to take our anger, our fear, our passion and our love for one another and show the GOP that Virginia is for lovers, and beyond Virginia, our community will not be intimidated, oppressed or legislated out of the society we all live in. In a Youngkin state, we have to fight for one another because he has made it clear that he will not fight for the rights of all Virginians– only those that he and his party deem deserving of basic liberties and fundamental human rights. Before Hurricane Fiona hit, Puerto Ricans were being subjected to nearly daily power outages that were burning out generators, leaving hospital patients at risk, and forcing children to do their homework under flashlights. For this state of misery under the LUMA Energy consortium, households and businesses were issued SEVEN rate hikes—in one year alone. This abuse is unconscionable. After more than 100 organizations sent letters to the Commonwealth and Federal governments, and to Congress, and after attempts by legislators in the Island to withhold funding from LUMA Energy were blocked by a Congressionally-imposed fiscal control board, Puerto Ricans en masse took to the streets. Their demand that went unheeded: Cancel the LUMA contract. Gov. Pedro Pierluisi, we echo the call of the people being harmed by this bad contract and incompetent service provider. Do right by the people by canceling this contract before Nov. 30th. Otherwise LUMA will be locked in for 15 years. In fact, all you have to do is not sign any renewal contract. To President Biden and Congress, we say Puerto Rico MUST have a sustainable and clean, renewable energy grid that is reliable, hurricane or not. The federal government should take immediate steps so that what should have been done after Hurricane Maria is accomplished. Federal reconstruction funding to rebuild the electricity grid should be required to be used for only sustainable and clean, renewable energy projects, not dirty, polluting fossil fuels. FEMA should reprogram the tens of billions already available in disaster funding to municipalities and NGOs. As energy experts advise, Congress should move to cancel all or a substantial portion of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority’s debt. FEMA officials recently testified that out of $13 billion available in US grid reconstruction funds, only $40 million had been disbursed, FIVE years after Hurricane Maria. Enough is enough! A Trump-era prosecutor who targeted Chinese academics without proof of a crime could be facing a big promotion in the US court system. Civil rights and Asian American groups are furious. We’re joining the call to stop his nomination. Casey Arrowood was the first prosecutor to use Trump’s racist “China Initiative” to target academics of Chinese origin. And he was relentless. The Biden administration ended the “China Initiative,” calling it “biased” and “flawed.” But now Casey Arrowood could be promoted for using it against the Chinese immigrant community. He then placed Dr. Hu and his teenage son under FBI surveillance for over a year. When the surveillance didn’t turn up any evidence of espionage Casey Arrowood tried to mount a wire fraud case against Dr. Hu that was so weak a federal judge had it tossed out. Casey Arrowood should not be allowed to practice law, let alone get promoted to the US Attorney’s office. A Trump appointee – who somehow still has a job at Homeland Security – is refusing to cooperate with the January 6th Committee about the missing Secret Service text messages during the insurrection at the Capitol. Joseph Cuffari is the Inspector General at Homeland Security, which means he’s supposed to investigate any potential wrongdoing in the agency. Instead he’s blocking the investigation into Secret Service agents’ texts sent while Trump’s mob stormed the Capitol. If Joseph Cuffari refuses to do his job, then he shouldn’t have that job. Period. Currently only 12 percent of the Navajo population votes in the Presidential and Delegate Primaries. In order to build further civic engagement to ensure that the voice of the Navajo People prevails, we have to have a free and fair electoral system. This is especially true with our tribal elections. If we want to inspire our children to make a difference through voting in county, state, and federal elections, we must show that voting at the tribal level has meaning. Without a free and fair election system that the Navajo People can believe in, the Navajo vote will be suppressed all across the board. In order to maximize the strength and power of the Navajo voice and vote, we must build a model electoral system here at home. If we can do this, we can inspire our youth to raise their voice and flex their electoral power at every level. And in so doing, we can transform our Nation from a forgotten patch of jurisdiction to a political powerhouse setting the tone of conversation all the way from D.C. to our State Legislatures and Governor's Mansions.

Parents of the community are concerned, and action taken previously by other community members to reduce the speed limit have not been honored; in fact; MDOT elected to increase the speed limit. Accidents have resulted from this decision. Truck drivers and other drivers have also voiced concerns as they do not feel safe turning into driveways, onto side roads where there are no stop signs/stop lights, and into businesses.

Police in schools have served as the main bridge for students of color, poor students, students with disabilities and trans and queer students to enter the criminal justice system. Our goal is to create a path where our public schools become a place where students are nurtured and provided with the resources that help us grow to be healthy adults. We want to end the long history of systematically criminalizing Black, Indigenous and other students of color, specially those living with behavioral and physical disabilities as well as trans and queer students that attend Salem Keizer Public Schools. Even though in 2021, Superintendent Christy Perry decided NOT to renew the School Resource Officers program, which took about 1 million dollars from our education funding, far right groups who do not represent students are attacking this student-led victory. We need the full and permanent reinvestment of SRO funds into non-punitive education programing/staff and we want our school district to make a commitment to end the school to prison and deportation pipeline.

Families, including children, were transported across state lines under false pretenses. This was a premeditated effort targeting persons by national origin. It’s shameful that instead of treating asylum seekers with the love, dignity and care they deserve, Republican Governors like Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott are exploiting them and using them as political pawns. Families, including children, are being transported across state lines under false pretenses. Immigrants are being treated inhumanely. These are not isolated incidents. They are deliberate actions relentlessly carried out by anti-immigrant Republicans/politicians. It’s completely unacceptable and it needs to end now. Republicans want to divide us by demonizing immigrants. But no one is illegal on stolen land. And immigrants deserve to be welcomed and treated with dignity, love, and care. Together, we can keep fighting for immigration justice including a pathway to citizenship for undocumented folks.

This issue is affecting everyone from tourist to communities to families to business owners and overall the economy. This problem has given me the opportunity to understand how to handle the issue effectively and efficiently everyone has voice and nothing will change if no one isn’t listening on how to create solutions that will not mask the problem but remove it. I've heard and seen the frustration and this has allowed me to be able to understand how to make the correct choices for the homeless community and the business owners we are all crying out for something to be done this is a change for good it will allow us to get back what Covid-19 has taken away from our communities and rebuild our economy.
