  • Save Our Privacy: Stop Data Aggregation
Data aggregators are compiling any and all available data transmitted through our internet, cell phone, and credit card usage - without our informed consent - and then selling this information to large corporations, with the potential to be used against us. This, often inaccurate, information can be sold to insurance companies, marketers, and the like, to profile us, pigeon-hole us, and limit our ability to obtain employment, insurance, credit, or other future opportunities. We need more and better laws to protect Americans' privacy and keep pace with present technologies.

  • HB 1046 Ignores Reasons for Poverty
HB 1046 would require drug testing for Colorado Works Program applicants. This bill assumes that a primary cause of poverty is poor character. and that individuals and families needing help are not to be trusted. A similar law in Florida was thrown out in Federal Court in October 2011 because it amounted to unreasonable search and seizure. The judge further chided lawmakers for ignoring an 'overwhelming body of case law.' Costs for the program in Florida were high with no discernible benefit.
