• Sinquefield's KKK Comments are Not OK!
In a speech at Lindenwood University, billionaire Rex Sinquefield suggested that public schools are a conspiracy of the Ku Klux Klan. Rex Sinquefield wields significant influence in the Missouri state legislature. I need your help to tell legislators to stand up to Rex Sinquefield and let him know that comments about the KKK are not OK! Watch this video and sign the petition! http://youtu.be/w1z4OYxjOjg?t=2m42s

  • Forgivance and A Second Chance
First time, non-violent felony convictions actually are a life sentence hampering the person from getting a job, a place to live, getting credit, etc. Establish an independent, non partisan, non-political committee to do in depth investigations and grant pardons, thus relieving the Governor of the burden of political backlash and giving the convicted felon who has paid his debt to society a second chance.

  • LET US 99% XMIDDLE CLASS HAVE OUR CIVIL RIGHTS BACK
We can organize more of the people as did the 60's movement for Black's Civil Rights. The Middle Class has had their Civil Rights controled by the 1% Special Interests in bed with many of the politicians that we elected. Why did we elect such people? Because we had no other choice with so much money and political power behind them and control of the media we have no vote

  • Get Legalizing Marijuana on the National Ballot
I want a nation wide referendum on the legalization of marijuana use in America. I would like it to be on the ballot next November. it's time Americans' voices were heard on this issue by our politicians and lawmakers. Too many people have been harmed by the criminalization of drugs.

  • Please Help Occupy Las Cruces Protect the 1st Amendment Rights of the People of Las Cruces
On Tuesday, 2/21, at the Las Cruces City Council Meeting, Parks and Rec will be asking the Council to pass a new rule that would basically make it impossible for us or anyone else to "occupy" a public space. The rule says that any "camping" has to be in conjunction with an event and is limited to 7 days. Though I haven't been able to find out what the fee for this would be, I think we can reasonably assume that it will be much more than the $20-$25 per day we were paying for permits. This would effectively price us (and most citizens) out of carrying on an "occupation" protest.

  • Separation of Church and State
Conservative Christian legislators and their base are trying to change our country, its laws and a person's rights, based on their religious views. The first amendment of the constitution prohibits (among other things) "the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion." This is to prevent a "national religion" or laws that show preference to any one religion. Religious freedom in America gives you the right to believe whatever you want. It does not give you the right to deny people basic CIVIL rights (like marriage, access to contraception, abortion, etc) because you believe its a sin. People who don't share those beliefs are being subjected to rules of a religion they don't even follow! And for some reason, we aren't rising up against it! We, as Americans, need to take a stand and insist that our rights be protected from those who would force their beliefs on us! Wake up, America! Protect the First Amendment's Separation of Church and State! Tell legislators and President Obama that you are tired of your rights being threatened by conservative Christians using politics to push their religious agenda!

  • MAIN TAGLINE OF SAVE ORPHANS AND DISABLED AFRICAN CHILDREN
Our tagline at SODAC is "off the streets and on their feet." Our goal is to provide street children and vulnerable children with rehabilitation, support and resettlement services. Right now our activities are primarily in Kampala, Uganda. We have a home and center where children from all over the slums come and participate in our activities and have a chance to enjoy life as a child. Our activities include educating them, giving the shelter, teaching them how to sing dance, acrobatics and other activities that we can participate in as a family and across African Countries. Currently there are 16 boys who live and sleep in the home. There are more than 50 other children who come from the streets and slums that we help. These are children who lives on the streets with no one to take care of them and with no one to cater for his/her welfare, such children are abandoned, rejected and neglected and society considers him/her as a detriment to the community or dangerous to society. Such children might be victims of war, natural disaster, and domestic violence, parents died of HIV/AIDS or absolute poverty in the family.

  • Support Yellow Arahama (黃色手帕大作戰)
Dear all, I am writing to ask for your attention to a call from Japan regarding post-earthquake reconstruction in in Arahama, Sendai. The large-scale forced-relocation planned after 311 earthquake in Japan is problematic in many ways. Professor Yasuhiro Endoh(延藤安弘)) and his students are organizing actions to help local community express their opposition to the government-led relocation. Using "yellow handkerchief" as symbol, they are now trying to engage more international friends to support their action. In this coming weekend (18 Feb), Professor Ando and his team are going to introduce this action in a forum organized by Professor Hsia and his students at NTU in Taipei. They are hoping that a widening coverage of the action could be transferred back to Japan to pressure on Japanese government. Just like what we did for Choi Yuen Village in Hong Kong, Pacific Rim Community Design Network can support the community by expressing our support publicly by sending out a letter with signatures. If no one against the idea, we will send out an open email in the name of the network and Professor Endoh will read the public letter loud to the press in a press conference before the forum in Taipei this weekend. As follows you can find a draft of the public letter (in English) and official webpage of their action (in Japanese). Please let me know if any question. It would be great if you can show your support with signature by 10:00 on Friday (17 Feb). Thanks!
