• Tuition Assistance For the Senior Enlisted Soldiers to attain Doctoral Degrees
The petition is geared toward the Armed Forces. I currently have 23 years of military and earned my Masters Degree in 2009. However, I am not schedule to retire from the military for another five or ten years. Seniors officers have the training to achieve or earn the degree before exiting the military, however, the senior enlisted are not afforded the same opportunities.

  • Treat Texas Teachers Fairly
I am a 10 year veteran teacher who has spent all 10 years of my career at low income Texas schools. I see how bad decisions from our governor and legislature negatively affect teachers, administration, parents, and most importantly students. Texas needs to treat its teachers fairly!

  • End profits in education
Governor Snyder is proposing extreme measures which will ensure more dollars go to "for profit schools." Government funds should be providing for adequate schools and decent salaries for staff, not providing gains for investors at the expense of public education.

  • Reduce rates on school loans
The rate on school loans is set to double to 6.8% unless Congress acts to extend the lower rate for another year or two. Even 3.4% is too high, when the cost of other loans is lower, it isn't right that school loans cost so much.

  • Cameras in the Classrooms
This is part information, part intervention as parents and possibly the public will get to know what's really happening in our nation's classrooms and why our nation is so far behind others in education. After all, it is public education; doesn't the public have a right to know?

  • Include Student Loans in Bankruptcy
Many of us took out hefty loans and made many privately owned schools rich. Now we can't find jobs and still have to pay student loans. Almost every graduate student leaves school with loans over $200K. Our lives are shattered by the weight of these loans.
