I am a Viet-Nam Era veteran (voluntary), a scientist and college instructor, and a grandfather. It is unthinkable that the efforts and sacrifices of my generation will be misdirected away from threats that will encompass us all.

As Big Coal’s profits are squeezed by closures of coal-fired power plants across the U.S. and new EPA pollution rules, the companies are looking for ways to ship coal to foreign markets. After activists stopped coal export-terminal proposals in Oregon and Washington, the coal industry has turned its sights on California’s ports and marine terminals. Now Oakland is in Big Coal’s crosshairs. Developers are pursuing an export terminal on city-owned land along the Oakland waterfront and have been quietly soliciting a partnership with four Utah counties to allow them to export five to six million tons of Utah coal out of Oakland each year. Public land should be used for the public good — not for a dirty export project that would worsen local air quality and threaten climate stability. Coal is bad for the climate, community and worker health, and the environment, and both Oakland and California have standing policies opposing the export of dirty energy. California has worked hard to be a coal-free state, and it should stay that way! Join community groups, businesses, faith based groups, and community leaders in opposing this toxic proposal!

We need to ban the use of this poison. I have an organic garden and Certified Wildlife Habitat and have been seeing the dying of bees on my flowers. Organic growing needs protection from the pesticide, herbicide, and other poisons people use on their lawns and driveways. Living near a watershed, the Willamette River and other waterways, I see the need to protect the land and water from glyphosates, neonics. Please consider the wildlife and stop the spraying. Just a couple of weeks ago, the county sprayed along the Trolley Trail in Milwaukie, Oregon, killing the foliage all along a trail frequented by hikers, dogs, children, and the people who live along that trail. This is inconsiderate poisoning of the environment without permission to do so.

Did you know that a single tube of face wash can contain over 330,000 microbeads and well over 1,000 personal cleansing products contain microbeads? Several studies have shown that microbeads absorb pesticides and other toxic chemicals as they go down the drain. Most treatment plants do not have filters that are fine enough to filter and capture these 0.5mm beads, causing them to slip through and into our waterways. This is causing fish, birds, and other animals to mistake these beads for food, which leads to them ingest these plastics–bringing these microbeads to our plates. This is an extremely dangerous matter that is allegedly good for the skin, but is an extremely alarming issue that is and will continue to impact our oceans and environment. We do not have the technology, manpower or equipment to easily remove these 0.5mm beads from our oceans and as of right now, the problem is just continuing to grow. The State of California and New York recently passed legislation prohibiting the production, manufacture, distribution, and sale of products containing plastic beads fewer than 5 millimeters in size. The Wisconsin Legislature and several members of Congress have also introduced similar bills this year. I need your help in making sure we keep our water ways clean and healthy!

The policy will save lives by reducing dangerous air pollution that triggers asthma and other respiratory diseases. But dirty energy interests, together with their allies in Congress, are aggressively working to derail it. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is expected to push legislation in the U.S. Senate soon to delay adoption of the new carbon pollution limits for a year or more. His ultimate goal is to kill the Clean Power Plan altogether. Senator McCaskill is under heavy pressure to vote for Senate legislation to postpone the shift to clean energy our kids need and deserve. Given the current and growing threat posed by climate change, delaying action is a high risk gamble with our children’s future. Missouri is already feeling the impacts of climate change, and kids living near coal-fired power plants are suffering from high rates of asthma. Recent scientific studies estimate that the Clean Power Plan will save thousands of lives per year, and prevent 150,000 asthma attacks. So the sooner limits are placed on carbon pollution from power plants, the sooner asthma and other diseases linked to power plant pollution will be reduced. In addition to combating climate change and air pollution, the Clean Power Plan will help boost the rapidly growing clean energy economy. A recent study found that the Clean Power Plan will help generate nearly 300,000 new solar, wind and other clean energy jobs in Missouri and throughout the country. The sooner the Clean Power Plan is implemented, the sooner Missouri will expand investments in the kid safe, climate safe energy. The only beneficiary of delaying the Clean Power Plan would be big polluters, who could continue dumping unlimited carbon pollution into our air for a year or longer. Let’s send Senator McCaskill a clear message to put the interests of our kids and climate before polluters. This petition was occasioned by the general concern over potential environmental consequences of an oil spill in the Arctic Ocean. It was triggered by President Obama's approval of Shell's application to drill there, but the overriding concern is about the long term consequences of the rush to drill by all 4 countries bordering the Arctic Ocean - which would significantly expand the overall effects of burning more and more fossil fuels rather than focusing on alternative energy sources. Hence, the petition is directed not only at President Obama, but also, and more importantly, at the UN. I have been personally affected as a professor at New York University Medical School, which was very heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy—a hurricane and flood whose intensity was arguably worsened by climate change. All my mice were lost, my major equipment was destroyed, and the animal quarters will never be rebuilt.

The toxic chemicals that are sprayed in the environment are very painful and destructive. The fumes of these chemicals are toxic to all living things. It attacks the Respiratory and Nervous System to create pain and disability, plus it can be fatalistic to those who are already vulnerable, such as in the case of asthma, respiratory diseases, heart and different organs of the body plus the elderly and children. It is vital to get these chemicals from the perpetrators to be tested and assessed, plus to make tools to be sensitive to these chemicals when sprayed in the environment. Recently, my friends, acquaintances and I became very sick from the fumes of the chemicals that caused a lot of pain through-out the body, swellings in joints, fever, cannot get out of bed, cannot eat, walk or sit up. The creators of these chemicals came up with a chemical that focuses on the Nervous System to disable completely. A person gets disabled over night, swellings in the joints of the body, pain all over, making it difficult to get out of bed. The symptoms are like Chikungunya (Chik V) when a mosquito bites, the sting gets into the Nervous System causing the same reaction but the blood test shows that it has a high blood count in Chik V, while breathing in chemicals has a normal blood count. Since side effects of these chemicals can be fatalistic, causing other health issues which had to be treated according to the individual symptoms and allergic reactions to these chemicals, it is vital to investigate this terroristic act thoroughly and stop this behavior. These chemicals create toxic fumes that are invisible to the naked eye, therefore, it is very important to investigate and stop the creation of these chemicals. Since the creators of these chemicals have found the Pathway of the Nervous System, they are focusing on the vital organs such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, uterus, private parts, mammary glands, pressure points of the body, and every other parts of the body that have the Nervous System. The symptoms of the Nervous System when attack by the chemicals are needle like, double needle, razor like, itching, cramping, throbbing, burning and sharp pain. The people need to know what is happening in the environment so that they can report it plus take care of themselves properly. The Respiratory System is also attack to cause coughing, difficult breathing, burning of the throat which caused coughing, and then it gets into the lungs to create bronchitis, then pneumonia. These chemicals create natural symptoms which confuses doctors and victims. People who are already sick can be vulnerable to other health issues which threaten the lives of the victims. For example, Sherry, my friend went in to see the doctor for stuffy nose and difficulty breathing. The doctor told her that she has asthma, yet she never had asthma in her life. Sherry for the second time got sick, this time her Respiratory System was attacked with the chemicals causing an allergic reaction which looks like asthma. If, this allergic reaction is not treated properly it gets into bronchitis then pneumonia. The doctors need to know what is happening in the environment and how the chemicals can create natural symptoms which confuse doctors and victims. Stop this entertainment that is dangerous to all life. Humanity must be protected now and for the future generation. This is the year of 2015; there are technologies and tools to investigate this horrible act. Therefore, it means that there has to be strong leadership to stop this behavior which is like "mob psychology", where people with low self esteem would follow a leader who determines to destroy and torture people for fun. This leader is an "out of the box" thinker and he was able to motivate others to find the Pathway on the Nervous System plus create chemicals for the Respiratory System which is the life support of all living things. It is vital to stop this harassment because the chemicals give out invisible fumes to destroy all life. Stop the creators and harassers from polluting the environment with these toxic chemicals and making them accountable for this terroristic act to cause pain, disability and death to some of the victims. Chemicals are dangerous to all life. We are students in 7th grade trying to help the environment by getting rid of a harmful product. The use of Styrofoam can harm both the environment and one's health. The creation of Styrofoam releases 57 harmful, chemical by-products into the air. Styrofoam is not biodegradable and is not easily recycled. Therefor, there is no easy way to dispose of it without harming the environment. Not only does Styrofoam harm the environment, but eating or drinking out of a Styrofoam container can harm your health. The Styrene that is in the Styrofoam leaks into and contaminates the food or drink you will be consuming. By signing this petition, you are committing to stop the use of Styrofoam in your household!
