• Your national forest is being traded-away
In the past, when the Western Pacific Timber corporation was granted ownership of public land they developed it for summer homes and/or ranchettes. If this happens you will see "No Trespassing" signs the next time you go fishing, hunting, camping or hiking at your favorite location on what used to be public land.

  • Save the elephants in the world from the ivory traders
The elephants are going to disappear in the world if we dont act swiftly. They are being poached for the Chinese consumer for wealth and status show off. This must be stopped by world condemnation and sanctions. Stop buying all goods made in China. If even a small percentage of drop off of the west buying cheaper chinese goods were made it could cause a change in Chinese government policy to remove and prohibit the selling of all ivory. Its the greed and ignorance that is fueling this tragedy. Lets do something as a people/human world wide movement and save the defenseless elephant. Please realize that soon the only elephants left will be in animal parks and zoos. 70% of the ivory bought currently according to todays NYT article (1/6/13) is bought by the growing Chinese wealthy to bring them luck and show off their prosperity to each other. This is an absurd reason to kill an animal especially one that is becoming extinct. In fact it is beyond shameful if we do not act successfully; this should be a war to save the elephant. Please spread the word to the new secretary of state John Kerry, President Obama, your senators, all your friends, the Chinese government, and anyone else you can think of. This could be a people movement if we make it by each of us of thinking about our memories of elephants and their importance in this world. Do we want a world without the elephant?

  • Stop Las Vegas Water Transfer from Ranches in Northern Nevada
My family moved to Paradise Valley, Humboldt County Nevada 10 years ago to start a small ranch and farm in heart Buckaroo Country. My wife and I left our careers in Las Vegas to join them in building a life that was sustainable with raising our own livestock and growing our own food and to have children. Our family has invested everything we own in this community. Now we just found out Winnemucca Farms sold a very large amount of Water Rights to Las Vegas this will effect all the streams, creeks and water table that support out rural community lives and futures since 1860. I want our State Enigneers to evaluate the long term effects of this backroom deal.

  • NC Legislators & Governor: We Oppose the Forced Taking of Municipal Water Systems!
North Carolina's General Assembly is about to take the unprecedented step of seizing a municipal-run water system from a city, which in this case has owned and operated it for over 100 years. Members of the NCGA have signaled their intention to introduce legislation in early 2013 that would force the city of Asheville to turn over not only its water distribution system, but control of its pristine 20,000 acre watershed, to the Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County (MSD). Indications are that the city of Asheville will likely receive no compensation for the taking of these assets.

  • The new EPA administrator must ban the land-application of sewage sludge biosolids
IF YOU EAT, THIS ISSUE CONCERNS YOU. The basics: After ocean dumping of sewage sludge was banned, spreading it on the land became the next cheapest option. Regulations were drawn up by EPA, arm and arm with municipalities (the producers) who want to save money, and spreaders (corporations) who make huge profits on waste disposal. The sewage sludge name was changed to “biosolids” and the product (toxic waste) is now given to landowners as free “fertilizer”. Full disclosure of the sludge contents is not required and indeed is impossible to ascertain. Only 10 components are regulated, while there are close to 100,000 possible known and secret (proprietary) chemicals that could be present and interacting. As well, sludge contains pathogens, antibiotics and other medications including endocrine disrupters, slaughter house and morgue wastes, and everything else that goes down the drain. All these pollutants are concentrated in the sludge as the waste water treatment plant purifies the water so it can legally re-enter the water system. The landowner is told about the nitrogen content in the sludge and about the amount of money that can be saved on fertilizer, while the risks to human health and that of the environment are ignored. These pollutants and toxins, once applied to agricultural land, become absorbed into the food chain. Land applied sewage sludge has sickened people, killed livestock, polluted water, and degraded healthy soil. Many countries, including Japan and Switzerland, now ban the practice. Sewage sludge biosolids do not belong on the land where we grow our food or graze our animals.

  • Let Big Oil Companies pay for the cost of New York and New Jersey, climate-change caused, Hurric...
The severe storm damage caused by climate change is a result of oil companies greed. The burning of fossil fuels is the cause, therefore the oil companies who have been profiting from it should pick up the tab for the damage. They should also pick up the tab for the cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars which were fought for their benefit.

  • Expand Yosemite National Park for its 150th Birthday
We have an opportunity this year to expand Yosemite National Park by hundreds of acres, just in time for the 150th anniversary of Yosemite’s original Land Grant. This expansion will restore beautiful forest land that was stripped from the park and given to loggers, miners and the railroad industry long ago. Only Congress has the power to expand Yosemite National Park: With the leadership of preservation champions like Sen. Diane Feinstein, we can get this done in time for Yosemite’s 150th birthday.

  • Time Out On Fracking In Colorado
Colorado is going the wrong way, getting set to triple the number of oil and gas fracking wells in Colorado, while the evidence of serious harm mounts up all around us. "What the Frack?! Araphoe", concerned citizens group, is urging Colorado legislators to put public health and safety first, by enacting a state-wide moratorium on new drilling, so risks can be objectively assessed.
