Shell Oil has had an accident already in the Arctic in their drilling of test wells. Seventeen crew members were rescued, but the fate of endangered animals is not so clear. What happened to Pres. I"m constantly experiencing the purchasing of more products that become useless by only few uses and end up in the waste can. The cities are increasing the sizes of the waste and the recyclable cans as a civic answer to this disastrous phenomena.

There is a rock crushing/wood chipping facility that's planning on opening up shop right in the middle of our town of Ketchikan Alaska. The planning request has no provisions for the pollution that will be involved. No water treatment facility. No dust pollution plans. No noise pollution plans. (It's going to be near schools, a library, preschool, etc. They also want long term storage of their equipment and chemicals. It will be near a prime salmon spawning ground as well as one of the largest salmon hatcheries in the state. There was a deadline to comment, 12/31/12

It may be connected to the rise in inflammation illnesses in this country. The timing is about right for many of the increases in some of these illnesses, as in Lupus, Diabetes, Numerous Arthritis , fibromyalgia , neuropathies , and many more that haven't been explained any other way. The practice of hydrofracturing endangers our water supply, our air, soils, the environment, and human health. There is no way to do it safely and it should be banned.

A Canadian company plans to tear up wilderness 5 miles from my house and dig out copper. The locals think a lot of $ is coming into AZ, but the mine will poison the waterways for all teh wildlife, pollute the night skies and be a big mess in many ways.

HEMP IS THE MOST PROFITABLE CROP OUR GOVERNMENT COULD EVER INVEST IN!! Over 30,000 known products can be produced from hemp including fuel, food, clothes, paper, building materials and biodegradable plastic; just to name a few. It grows without herbacides and pesticides, reduces our carbon emissions, creates jobs, is health beneficial, reduces deforestation and is over all beneficial to our Earth, homes, lives and country! Oh, and did I mention that there is no possible way to get high on hemp! Hemp is NOT marijuana!! The US is the ONLY industrialized nation in the WORLD that does not permit the production of hemp!! STOP THE NONSENSE!! NOW!!

Let's reduce our dependency on petroleum based plastic bags in North Carolina. Several large retailers have already started this initiative as well as small ones and we can follow their lead and also push legislation like in California that is attempting to do the same. This measure would reduce landfill waste by thousands of tons every year, save oceanic and other wildlife and increase public awareness about global warming.

Solar has been proven to be the best way to create 22 million new jobs for the US, generate $9 billion new cash flow for the US, and best of all shut down all nukes. Germany is doing just that. Germany just achieved 51% of all its power from solar in May 2013. Germany will shut down all its nukes by 2022. California could achieve 100% solar power by 2030. Residential home owners should be allowed to oversize their Renewable Energy systems and participate in the State mandated goal to achieve 33% renewable energy by 2020. California resident who purchase an electric vehicle can expect a 60% increase in their electric bill, as shown by a study done by Purdue University in summer of 2010, unless they have solar panels. Due to these laws, we have automatically barred over 8 million roof tops, that would be able to generate over 11,500 MW of power. That's 5 San Onofre nuclear power plants. Solar can shut down all nukes. Germany just made over 33 Gigiwatts of solar power. We need to let our Home Owning citizens in on a Feed in Tariff that pays 0.54 cents per kwh., and allow Homeowners to oversize their Renewable Energy Systems.
