This petition is being made to stop the consumption of live animals. There are so many "delicate" dishes that involve inhumane practices and suffering. There is a popular dish in Guangdong, monkeys are put under a table where there head pokes through the top, and you are to eat there brain while they are still alive screaming! In china there is a dish called ying yang yu. It is a fish half severely fried but just enough to where its organs are undamaged and its head untouched so it can live for 30 minutes. Its sickening to see people laugh at its pain and poke it for a reaction, all i see is the pain in its eyes as it begs to die. There is a dish in China called Huo Jiao Lu. It is the practice of eating a live donkey. They tie its legs together and cut into it and serve the pieces of the suffering animal directly to the customer. The animal stays alive until it can no longer handle the pain and loses to much blood. These are only the few of so many, please help me to end this pain and save the animals that suffer for entertainment and satisfaction.

We have ALL been affected by war in some way. My son is a disabled veteran due to the last war, that was useless. This war is being started to stop the impeachment! We must take care of our children at home. We need to stop the violence at our schools! We have to have money appropriated for our children's education. That should be our #1 priority!

50 Americans are living in the Embassy of Venezuelan in Washington, DC. Members of Code Pink and other fringe groups have been living inside the embassy since April 10 in support of the illegitimate Maduro Regime. As the United States recognized Juan Guaido as interim President of Venezuela on January 23, 2019, The Venezuelan American community in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia has since April 30th gathered in the hundreds outside of the Embassy to protest the trespassing of these groups and has organized to stay vigilant 24 hours resisting further trespassers in what it calls #OperacionLibertadDC.

As a student concerned about child labor in the global supply chain, I’m writing this to urge you to introduce a new bill that would make Cobalt a conflict material within the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based on your support for international humanitarian efforts, I am hoping you will be in support of this and the peace it will bring thousands of people. The Congo supplies over half of the world’s cobalt, which has put pressure on their mines to increase production as global demand has skyrocketed. This has caused them to quickly need more workers, and they have turned to children to fill the gap. There are an estimated 40,000 child laborers working in these mines, accounting for just under half of all cobalt miners. These children work 12 hour days without protection, putting them at risk of asphyxiation or other accidental death, for compensation of only $1-2 per day. Working in these mines not only puts children’s health at risk but also their social growth, as they have no time to interact with other children and have fun. In addition, many kids drop out of school to work full time in the mines and never get a thorough education. This leads to lower paying jobs as adults and ultimately puts them at a disadvantage later in life. Something has to change. Currently, section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act includes gold, tin, and tungsten, but cobalt is noticeably absent. The increased regulation on the listed minerals has had a tremendous positive effect on how these minerals are sourced. Transparency requirements along the global supply chain have helped to audit 75% of mines for these minerals. Furthermore, 79% of tin and tungsten miners in the Congo now work at conflict-free mines that are considered “peaceful”, defined as an absence of child labor, reasonable working conditions, and fair compensation. Inspecting these mines for legality and cooperation with child labor laws have helped to reduce the number of children mining for conflict minerals. The problem is that children have a new industry to turn to: cobalt mining. By adding cobalt to the list of conflict materials, mines would need to be checked for child labor, and companies would be forced to find other sources. Children could escape the dangerous mines and have a chance at a childhood and an education. This law has caused enormous improvements in other mineral’s mines, and it would help children mining for cobalt just as much. I hope you will consider action in Congress that would either introduce new legislature or edit the existing bill to solve this dire problem. The children need our action to free them from their enslavement, and I firmly believe that this legislature is the first step towards them. In order to work toward world cooperation and invest in human needs to solve pressing problems like climate change and humanitarian crises, it's time to commit to ending U.S. wars. Since 2001, the war authorization has been used for military endeavors in dozens of countries, in the Middle East, Africa, Central and South Asia. After over 17 years of war and trillions of dollars spent, it's time to end the Forever War by repealing the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force and holding the perpetrators of war crimes accountable.

I am a Jewish liberal and am very concerned with the very biased survey that was ran by moveon.org to encourage boycotting of the AIPAC conference. I fear that this great liberal movement is being misled by people with hidden agendas.

The United States has been in a state of continuous, global, open-ended military conflict since 2001. We have been at war for so long that Americans born 17 years ago can now enlist to fight in a war that began before they were born. These wars have had devastating consequences for the military community, our nation, and the whole planet. As veterans and military families, we are tired of endless war, and we are asking our leaders to pledge that they will bring these wars to an end. We are also demanding that Congress reclaim its powers of oversight on matters of foreign policy. We cannot afford more reckless wars, and we need Democratic leaders who will boldly stand for a progressive, moral vision of U.S. involvement overseas.

Any progressive vying to be the Democratic nominee for president should skip the AIPAC conference. Here are four reasons why: #1. AIPAC spent tens millions of dollars in 2015 to defeat the Iran nuclear deal negotiated by President Obama along with our European and international allies––a historic diplomatic agreement that Trump has tried to derail since taking office. #2. This year's AIPAC conference is headlined by Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, under whose leadership, according to the U.N., Israel may have committed war crimes in attacks on Gaza. Netanyahu has also been indicted on bribery and fraud charges, and he recently made a deal to bring the "Israeli KKK" ultra-racist party into the next government. #3. AIPAC has been known to peddle anti-Muslim and anti-Arab rhetoric while giving platforms to Islamophobes. #4. AIPAC has refused to condemn the antisemitism of Republicans, such as Trump’s friend and advisor Steve Bannon. Bannon’s wife reported that he had their kids removed from a school because of “the number of Jews that attend”, and that “he didn’t want the girls going to school with Jews. While many groups condemned Bannon, Politico reported that AIPAC “declined to weigh in." Many candidates have now confirmed they are not attending the conference. And it is time for others to join them!
