After 9/11, the CIA detained and tortured — including beating, chaining to the ceiling, locking in coffins, and waterboarding detainees to the brink of death — over 100 Muslim men in “black site” prisons around the world. That period is a stain on human history. While Congress authorized a full investigation, the resulting full, unredacted 7,000-page CIA Torture Report has yet to be released to the public. Until we know the truth, there is no way to achieve full justice for survivors and victims of CIA torture and detention. Worse, there is also no way to make sure it will never happen again. Will you urge your members of Congress to release the unredacted CIA Torture Report to the public now?

Americans living overseas are subject to a separate and substantially more punitive tax code than stateside Americans. This is grossly unfair. Furthermore, the United States government has demonstrated little to no concern about the well-being of its overseas diaspora. As a result, many false narratives from many sources have surfaced that mischaracterize the real situation on the ground. H.R. 4363 should layout what is really going on and set the record straight. It is vitally important Congress act on this legislation to safeguard the lives of millions of Americans abroad from financial ruin.

Iran has become a hostile country for over 80 million people. Iranians are being treated unjustly. They are being beaten, tortured, arrested and killed by government officials for protesting and fighting for their human rights.

We are told that as a 21st-century superpower, we are the most "developed" nation in history—ethically, legally, and mentally. Yet, our leadership's current actions suggest a total collapse of that very development. This is important because: Silence is Complicity: As citizens of Haymarket and the United States, our tax dollars and our "strategic interests" are being used to justify the slaughter of innocents and the leveling of entire cities. The Loss of our Moral Compass: We have traded our role as a "model for the world" for a seat at the table of hypocrisy. When we operate on assumptions rather than humanity, we don't bring peace; we bring disaster and chaos. The Reputation of our Nation: Our leadership has turned a great country into a target of global scorn. We are no longer respected; we are viewed as a bully that has lost its soul. We are better than this. Our leaders in Congress must stop using "strategy" as a mask for inhumanity. We demand an immediate end to the support of activities that destroy infrastructure and take innocent lives. It is time to restore the dignity of the American people by choosing human life over political leverage.

Every member of Congress has a choice right now: Will they do their jobs and rein in a rogue executive, or – through their inaction – endorse Trump’s illegal march to war? Trump’s illegal war with Iran has already killed Iranian civilians and American servicemembers. This bloodshed isn’t happening in a vacuum – it’s happening because Congress has repeatedly failed to exercise its authority and hold Trump accountable. We see what’s happening here. Heading into the 2026 midterms, Trump knows he’s failing to lower costs for working people. He knows voters are demanding answers about ICE violence and the Epstein crimes. And he knows this war is a way to avoid addressing those issues – and tighten his grip on power. Our members of Congress have the power – and duty – to stop this. They need to do their jobs, not hide behind Trump. It’s time to make that clear. Congress must pass a War Powers Resolution, block funding for further escalation, and get every member on the record – so voters like us can see exactly where our lawmakers stand and hold them accountable now and at the polls this November.

It is important because the future of our democracy depends on it. I believe that a national petition would have the support of a large majority of our population, leaving congress little choice but to take action.
