• Trump Towers: A Second White House??
President elect Trump wants to do what no other president in my 60 year memory has done – split his time between sleeping in the White House, the People’s House, and in his "beloved" penthouse in Trump Towers. This would truly make him an elitist president rather than a president for ALL the people.

  • Making Senators Responsible to Those They Represent
As we attempt to accept the outcome of the outcome of the recent election, we must continue to be part of this democracy. The President-Elect has told us "not to be scared" but, at the same time he has put a racist, anti-Semitic into a high, advisory position. Now he is coming up with a short list for cabinet positions that include hawks, climate-deniers, racists, hate-mongering candidates. Basically, while trying to sound more "presidential", his nominations seem to be very much in line with the divisive rhetoric that he spoke throughout the campaign. We need to make the Senators, who can confirm or deny these cabinet assignments, understand that we are watching. They need to represent us to earn our votes for the next round. We will not forget how they vote in this transition period.

  • Extend the conflicts of interests law to the President and Vice President
I care about this country and I do not want to see the office of President degraded and used for personal gain. The President must be held to the highest ethical standard in order to preserve the integrity of our system of government. Please sign this petition!

  • Dear Mr. Trump
The president elect is rapidly putting together a team of people whose views and positions stand in stark contrast to the majority of the country. We need Mr. Trump to understand that he was not elected with a mandate to ignore the views of the people. His mandate was to break the gridlock that has prevented the government from effectively solving our problems.

  • Donald Trump must release his tax returns or we won't file ours
Our president is supposed to work for all the American people. Unless we know details about Donald Trump's business interests, debt obligations, and financial ties both national and international, we will not know whether his policies and decisions as president serve the nation or his own interests.

  • A call to President-Elect Trump to Stand by American Women
This petition addresses the stress and trauma triggered by the vile rhetoric, particularly directed towards women, coming out of the presidential campaign. Elected officials need to take responsibility for their language and be aware of the impact it has. We hear from the softening tone of your rhetoric, and some of your language, that you are trying to extend the olive branch, after a particularly divisive presidential campaign. In the spirit and words of David Chappelle, President-Elect Trump, I propose the following: We are willing to give you a chance to govern, and we, as a historically disenfranchised segment of the population – women – demand that you give us one, too. We remind you that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote and those of us who voted for her are waiting and watching to see if you will, in fact, unify the nation. You should know that millions of women have been online discussing with each other various experiences with sexual trauma ranging from verbal harassment, groping, assault, to rape at gunpoint. These women –millions of voters—are also discussing the way that the violent rhetoric coming from you and your campaign re-traumatized them, as well as the release of the recordings in which you brag to Billy Bush about sexually assaulting women. One woman even reported that a stranger grabbed her crotch while yelling: “You’ve been Trumped”. I hope that you find this crime, done in your name, as repulsive as the rest of us do and will denounce it. You did apologize and we are willing to take that apology to heart if we see action to support it. As the leader of the free world, we expect that you do not want to embolden those who would continue to assault women; those who feel as though your words have given them permission to grab whomever they want, without consent, when they feel like it. Women who have survived sexual assault and have been re-traumatized listening not only to your so-called “locker room talk” -- even justifying it as such -- add up to millions of voters who need to see that you, as the leader of the free world, denounce the hateful and vindictive language that they are now encountering when sharing their stories. As your opponent said, President-Elect Trump, words matter. Now your words matter more then ever, and you need to be mindful of the messages that you send out, as they will reflect upon our nation as a whole. You can back up your apology by supporting, creating policy, securing funds for the following: • Protect Planned Parenthood: Stop the witch-hunt. Planned Parenthood provides medical care for millions of American citizens. • Protect Roe v. Wade: Nothing is more personal than the decision whether or not to keep a baby. The greater majority of Americans support having safe and legal access to abortion and thus, this should be reflected in your policies. It’s illogical to demand “less government” and then allow government regulation into our bedrooms. Seriously, would you want your daughter to have to resort to an illegal, unsafe abortion? • Enact Policy to Protect Women from Sexual Violence: Provide support and resources to agencies that offer legal, medical, and recovery support to victims of such abuse. • Appoint cabinet members who support these policies and laws. As First Lady, Melania Trump, can take on a crucial role in helping you heal the wounds inflicted by the divisive and harmful political rhetoric coming out of your campaign.

  • Americans refuse the appointment of Steve Bannon
Whole communities are living in fear of the racist fervor that was stoked by the rhetoric of the Trump campaign. To appoint someone who has run a publication which promoted nationalist ideas, as any part of the transitioning team, will confirm for us that the campaign is not about jobs but about race. I fear the ramifications from that confirmation.

  • Abolish the Electoral College
For the second time in the past 16 years, a candidate who received less popular votes has been handed the presidency. In 2000, Al Gore received almost 600,000 more votes than George W. Bush, yet Bush received more electoral votes and was handed the presidency. In 2016, Hillary Clinton received almost 500,000 more votes than Donald Trump, yet Trump received more Electoral votes and was handed the presidency. There will be no real democracy in the United States until the Electoral College is abolished and presidents are elected by popular vote. The Electoral College is obsolete. It's time to end the Electoral College and make each & every vote count. It's time we have REAL democracy in the United States of American and elect our President by POPULAR VOTE. If you agree, please add your name to the petition.

  • Tell state legislatures: Elect America's presidents by national popular vote
Americans made their voices heard on election night, and more voters chose Hillary Clinton than any other candidate – Clinton is now on track to win more votes than any other presidential candidate in history except President Obama. Even though Clinton is expected to win approximately 2 MILLION more popular votes (and counting!), the Electoral College allowed Trump to win. This is the fifth time in American history, and only 16 years since voters chose Al Gore but got George W. Bush instead, that the Electoral College overruled the will of the American people. It’s an affront to our democracy and a sign that the system is broken. We believe every vote should count equally, regardless of where you live in the United States – EVERY vote in EVERY state should matter in EVERY presidential election. But thanks to the Electoral College, our presidential elections are based on state winner-take-all laws that award all of a state's electoral votes to the candidate receiving the most popular votes inside each separate state. This winner-take-all system means presidential candidates have no reason to pay attention to voters in states where they are safely ahead or hopelessly behind. Instead, candidates focus on “swing states” while largely ignoring the rest of the country. But there’s a realistic path to restoring our democracy and overruling the Electoral College by 2020, and we don’t have to go through the Trump-led, Republican-controlled Congress. If we can get enough states to sign onto the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, our presidents will be elected by the national popular vote, not the outdated Electoral College. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact would require states to award all their electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the national popular vote. And we already have momentum to getting this enacted nationally: Right now, ten states and the District of Columbia have joined the compact, possessing 165 electoral votes altogether. If states and territories totaling at least 270 electoral votes pass laws joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, then the people’s choice won’t be overruled by the Electoral College in the next presidential election. That means we're only 105 electoral votes away from making sure we don’t have another 2016 in 2020! Tell State Legislators: Please join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, and end the Electoral College's power to overturn the will of the voters. Thanks for standing with us.

  • Donald Trump: Denounce Bigotry
In the wake of this election we have seen an increase in acts of discrimination, hate, and violence, especially in our schools. At a time like this it is more important than ever for our country to come together and denounce hatred. Donald Trump, now is the time for you to set the tone of your presidency, earn respect of all parties, and bring Americans together. As we know, a country divided will almost certainly fail. What do you want your legacy to be?

  • A DONALD TRUMP GOVERNMENT CAN AND SHOULD BE PREVENTED AND IT COULD BE DONE LEGALLY
A DONALD TRUMP GOVERNMENT CAN AND SHOULD BE PREVENTED AND IT COULD BE DONE LEGALLY. It’s a very long shot but under the dire circumstances it should at least be tried. Here’s why: It is now clear to everyone except Trump that he will not be able to get the nightmare cabinet he is in the processes of putting together approved by the Senate when he be comes president on January 20th or for months and months afterward because the Republicans in the Senate, even if they are all united in favor, will not have the votes to break a Democrat filibuster. The United States will not have a functional government. This would be a revolution through chaos. Here’s how: Although no elector is required by federal law to honor their pledge, there have been very few occasions when an elector voted contrary to a pledge. Meaning it has happened. Meaning it can happen. Meaning that it is constitutional. Meaning that it is legal. Meaning that at least in theory it can be done. The Electorial College votes on the Monday after the second Wednesday in December and votes separately for President and Vice President. That is the deadline for convincing enough electors to save the United States from disaster by voting for Hillary Clinton and not Donald Trump. The political argument: Hillary Clinton won the popular vote not Trump. Almost anyone who did not vote for Trump including perhaps millions who didn’t vote because they couldn’t bear voting for Clinton is now disgusted, outraged, and terrified at the outcome, as well they should be. What this means is that a Trump government will not be recognized as legitimate by a quite clear majority of the American people. Nor will it be able to function. This would be an impossible situation. It could not last. The result would have to be some kind of revolution, political, legal, or violent, impossible to predict. What to do: Spread this proposal far and wide. Viralize it. And quickly. The deadline is in December. Just a shot away.
