  • End the Washington Democratic Caucus
Many working people and families, particularly women and people of color, become disenfranchised when we use a system that requires voters to be privileged enough to spend an entire weekend day just for their voice to be heard. It’s time for change and action, not baby steps and political pragmatism. It’s going to take a political revolution to change it, and it starts with all of us.

  • Governor Shumlin: bring automatic voter registration to Vermont!
Last week, the Vermont State Senate passed automatic voter registration with nearly unanimous support. This legislation would make Vermont fourth in the nation to enact such a law. Governor Shumlin needs to hear that you support automatic voter registration, and he should sign it into law. Automatic voter registration, H. 458, could add up to 50,000 voters to the rolls in the next four years. It would strengthen security of our voter database, increase accuracy, save taxpayer dollars, and protect the fundamental right of every eligible citizen to participate in our democracy. It works by allowing the DMV to use information they already collect – age, address and citizenship – to determine if a person is eligible to vote. If eligible, the citizen is added to the voter rolls unless they decline to be registered. Automatic voter registration is already seeing incredible success in Oregon, quadrupling registrations since it was enacted four months ago. We believe that our democracy works best when more people participate, and it's time for Vermont to join the wave of automatic voter registration.

  • Stop Closed Primary in PA
I believe in democracy in its purest sense. I am registered as an Independent and should be allowed to vote in the Primary. I should not be required to change my registration just to be given my right to vote; it is un-American!

  • NY Board of Elections: Conduct Full Statewide Audit of Voter Purges
The right to vote should be seen as a sacred right for all citizens. However, the New York State Board of Elections has purged over 60,000 voters from the rolls in Kings County — the most populous county, which houses Brooklyn — between October and April, just before the New York primary. A voter can be moved from active to inactive status if they have not voted in two consecutive federal elections (or four years). However, only 10,000 voters have been added to the "inactive" list, meaning that over 50,000 voters are unaccounted for. Kings County is one of only seven counties, out of a total of sixty-two, that reported a drop in Democratic voters. As of April 19, no official explanation has been given for why these voters were removed from the rolls. We demand a full, statewide audit of all voter purges across New York. We further demand that the unedited results of the audit be published online for public view.

  • I won't Support Hillary Clinton
The Democratic Primary has been rigged for Hillary Clinton! Our votes don't count and from the beginning all the odds have been stacked against anyone who has run against her. She is untrustworthy, the only candidate to my knowledge, for the Democratic nomination for president who has ever been under an FBI investigation and facing a potential indictment in history. She is a big gamble, and is not worthy of the nomination. She will not unite the party as to many do not trust her. She will be ineffective as a president, as Republican's hold a very real dislike for her and will not work with her. She is a divider, and will not be able to bring the party together as well as bring independents in to support her in the national election. Her nomination will mean a Democratic defeat in November! I won't support her!

  • End gerrymandering in Pennsylvania
As a resident of the 7th Pennsylvania Congressional District, I am more than a little embarassed by the bizarre inexplicable shape of the district. Obviously, something's afoot.

  • No hate in Indy
In previous speeches, Donald Trump has spread hate and disrespect for lots of American communities, such as Mexican immigrants, Muslims, and African Americans. I strongly protest his hate speech and want to let him know his hate speeches are not welcome in Indianapolis.

  • Vice President Biden, Please Endorse Bernie Sanders.
I believe that Bernie Sanders is the only candidate to take us forward. His opponent has supported DOMA the PATRIOT ACT the TPP, KEYSTONE, FRACKING, PRISONS FOR PROFIT and has stood against the CARBON TAX the GLASS-STEAGALL ACT, dropped healthcare when the healthcare industry put money in here coffers and has made seroius fabrications and careless comments from her statement about being under sniper fire (Blattant slap in the face to VFW's) to making Nancy Regan sound like an advocate for HIV victims, when the Regans remained silent on a deadly epidemic.

  • Tell HUD Secretary Julián Castro: Stop selling our neighborhoods to Wall Street!
Wall Street bankers are back at it again, buying up people’s mortgages at discount prices from government agencies like the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). And Secretary Julián Castro's Wall Street giveaway lets the bankers who helped create the foreclosure crisis profit off of struggling homeowners’ mortgages. For years, the banking industry has made billions by displacing communities, destroying neighborhoods and looting the public’s assets. Mr. Castro should be helping people stay in their homes, not helping Wall Street bankers profit from economic inequality and exploding debt. HUD is supposed to help homeowners stay in their home through its “Distressed Asset Stabilization Program.” But instead it has been a giveaway for Wall Street: In 2015, 98% of homes sold through HUD’s DASP program went straight to Wall Street (15,309 out of 15,624). These homes are often sold at steep discounts, averaging 45% off for some of the biggest banks on Wall Street. A majority of the loans went to The Blackstone Group, a huge private-equity company notorious for its foreclosures. Blackstone tenants have dealt with roach infestations, harassment, and even attempts at illegal evictions. In 2008, as the financial markets came crashing down under the weight of the predatory, racially targeted subprime mortgage crisis, millions of Americans saw the wealth that they had spent generations building wiped out by Wall St. recklessness. The year before, in 2007, African Americans held 71% of their wealth in home equity, while Latinos held almost 90% of their wealth through homeownership. When the housing market collapsed, it took this wealth with it: African Americans lost a third of their wealth between 2007 and 2011, and Latinos lost more than two-thirds.
