    Government services that I have paid for with my taxes and depend on have been cut or severely curtailed. End the shutdown now and never allow such a disgrace to "we, the people" and to our country to happen again.

    Because of the government shutdown, we are worried that the flu vaccine will become unavailable. We haven't yet been able to get our flu vaccinations. Even if we get our vaccine, what if a general shortage occurs, which could affect all of us this winter, with higher rates of illness, contagion, and even death? Please stop holding our health and our very lives hostage to your extremist politics!

    My niece only has me left to help her. I am a disabled veteran on a fixed income. She has two children. I can't afford daycare or the $700.00 formula for her baby when WIC is closed in Texas. Republican extremism has impacted me. Shame on you for voting to shut down the government.

    Divisive political games have very real consequences for all of us. This shutdown demonstrates to the world that we are divided and weak as a country. We are vulnerable and this shutdown demonstrates that our form of government is not working. And we all suffer just so that an extreme minority--politicians beholden to the Tea Party--can make a political point. This is shameful and short-sighted behavior that does not represent us as a people. America is better than this and we the people deserve much better representation. This shutdown--and any further attempts to hobble our government--must end once and for all.

  • Congressional Pay During Shutdown
    I believe that Congressional pay should be cut and no person in Congress should get paid just as those classified as non-essential don't get paid. Since you are getting nothing done and you allowed the government to shut down, you should be classified as non-essential.
