Congressmen and women who implement irresponsible government shut downs need to suffer consequences for their recklessness. No work, no pay--Members of Congress must bear the same responsibility for their decisions as those who are most affected by them.

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers, who voted repeatedly to shut down the federal government, refused to forgo her congressional pay in solidarity with federal workers. Why? "I need my paycheck," she said. "That's the bottom line." Rep. Ellmers, if you vote to shut down the government, you should pay for it. We all need our paychecks, including the 800,000 federal workers who are going without their paychecks this week, as well as the millions of Americans who are going without federal assistance of all kinds. Your votes have consequences, Rep. Ellmers. Either forgo your salary until this shut down is over, or vote to end it. That's our bottom line.

You are all guilty of trying to take down our government, from without or within--that is called TREASON.

Congress members should not be paid when they've shut down the government.

If the lawmakers had to feel the full effects of their actions, they might not be so inclined to do things that negatively affect their constituents. Since we can't easily hold new elections to oust them, let's ask them to share our pain.

Our country is facing many challenges that, if not addressed with good will,courage and intelligence, threaten to greatly impact our quality of life. It is with increasing frustration and disgust that I watch our elected officials play partisan politics,line their own pockets and spend inordinate amounts of time raising money for their reelection campaigns while ignoring these challenges. Now as we embark on our second partial government shut down in my adult life, I say ENOUGH ! We, the people, deserve better representation.

Congress is broken.

As Americans, we should all be concerned about the health and well-being of the children and elderly in this country. Holding up funding for the food stamp program for women and children is a disgrace. Some radicals in Congress seem to think women and children can go without food. Well, then those Congressmen and Congresswomen, and their families, should go without a paycheck. In addition, there are children in this country who have serious illnesses and are being denied the opportunity to participate in clinical trials that might save their lives. How can we credibly criticize Syria for gassing innocent citizens, including children, when we are taking political and economic actions in this country that may have dire, perhaps even life or death consequences for some of our most vulnerable citizens? Some of our legislators are completely out of touch with the majority of American people. Let them feel the pinch of their irresponsible actions, too. The Affordable Care Act is a legitimate law--passed according to rules laid out in the Constitution of the United States--and supported by the Supreme Court. This lawful act is not a legitimate topic for budget negotiations. I am tired of a very small group of radical, ideological Tea Party members ruining our country. I confidently predict they will be voted out of office in the next election. Until then, they ought to forfeit their income as long as they act to keep the government shut down. Because I am an American serving this country for almost 30 years (both active duty and civil service) and I respect that the will of the people should prevail here. Congress is hurting us as a nation! Protest to your congressional representative, loudly and boldly. Don't sit idly by and take this! Move on with courage!

SOMETHING NEEDS DONE WHEN OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE WILLING TO MAKE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE MISS THEIR PAYCHECKS BECAUSE SOMETHING THAT WAS PASSED INTO LAW DOESN,T SUITE THEM AND THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR IT ,AND IT NEEDS STOPED AND THEY NEED TO NO IT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED BY EITHER PARTY OR IT WILL NEVER END AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE PAYING THE PRICE ,WE WANT THEM ARRESTED AND REMOVED FROM OUR OFFICES AND NEW PEOPLE APPOINTED TO RUN THEIR OFFICES UNTIL WE CAN ELECT NEW PEOPLE ,AND THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE IS NUMBER ONE.
