Something is broken in Congress. The filibuster has been distorted into a weapon in a partisan war, effectively making legislative progress impossible, imperiling essential policies supported by the American people, and blocking vitally important judicial nominations. As the fiscal cliff negotiations made clear, Washington is deeply divided. The Senate needs to reform its rules in order to ensure that these divisions do not jeopardize the progress we need to make on jobs, climate change, immigration, and more. It's time for the Senate to pass common-sense rules reforms to end routine obstruction and ensure that the Senate will once again be able to address the critical issues facing our country.

Gerrymandering - the setting of voting districts by the party in power has gone on for too long and has gotten too extreme. Voting districts no longer remotely reflect rational geographic boundaries or population centers, but instead are drawn just to keep the party in power, in power. We need Federal guidelines to help set rational voting districts, which will hopefully make it easier for the majority of citizens to vote a candidate out of office if they feel they need to.

Cobell payments (Indian Trust Settlement) being sent to wrong addresses. This lawsuit is the largest in US history and the mishandling of hundreds of millions in oil, gas and mineral payments to American Indians.

The American public has suffered enough under this "Hatfield & McCoy" Congress. Our Congressmen have their own agenda, which seems to ignore what the people want and need. The American people should be the ones to vote on our nation's spending cuts. It's our money. List the budgeted items and let us determine which ones to cut spending.

We are all shocked about the amount of money and time spent by politicians campaigning. This last November, we were sick of the constant TV ads, Robo-Calls and shocked at the total amount of money spent of campaigning. If a law is passed to reduce the amount of time that can be spent on a campaign to 90 days, it will reduce the amount of time we have to view ads, receive unsolicited calls and hopefully reduce the amount of money spent on campaigns.

Congress is in an incestuous feedback loop, feeding on taxpayer money whenever and wherever they can get their hands on it. The longer they are up there, the better they are at working the system to their benefit. They bribe their constituents back home with ill-gotten gains so they can stay in office until they get sick or die.

President Obama needs to nominate more women to his cabinet fast. CIA, Defense, State, Treasury - all nominated, all men. Diversity at all levels of government reflects who we are as a nation and helps us all move forward.
