This has to be done or our country will never be the same again. Congress has done nothing in the last 12 years but drag down this country instead of doing the job that we the people have voted them to do. As citizens of this country we should feel proud of our country, but from what i see that has changed so we need to change the individuals that are causing all the havoc.

People should be concerned about this issue, because Congress is the recipient of government largesse in a way that no citizen is. Perhaps Congress would be less glib about the changes they make that affect the elderly and disabled if they received the same insurance from the government.

We need a bill to prevent state legislators from becoming lobbyists immediately after leaving office. It happens too often: our elected officials learn how the system works and make contacts, then leave office as our representatives to become lobbyists with bigger pay-checks and no accountability. If they represent us in the past, they have no need to become lobbyists in the future. Protect democracy, support state Rep. John Kowalko's "revolving door" bill to end this practice. Thank you.

Delaware must not become like the D.C. Beltway, where lobbyists often negate the mandates of elected representatives given to them by the people. State legislators must not be allowed to become lobbyists immediately after leaving office.

It is well known that in order to distract the people from the more serious issues, a less serious event is sensationalized. One can never forget the Monica Lewinsky scandal (1998) and how that whole debacle overshadowed the fact that more discussions should have been taking place about the bi-partisan effort involved with signing the devastating Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act (GLB) (1999).

Expectations of our lawmakers have been absent. They work for the People of the United States of America and no one else.

As Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) writes on The Hill's Congress Blog "Here is a stubbornly well-kept secret: the debt ceiling is arbitrary, doesn't affect the deficit, and serves no real function in keeping spending down. In addition, it has recently become a cudgel which extremist Republican legislators use to beat the rest of us into submitting to political blackmail." It is time to end this farce which has already resulted in the U.S. rating being downgraded unnecessarily in the previous negotiations. We need to deal with the real issue--job creation.

1. Agreement by both parties, Vice-President Joseph Biden, Representatives of the US Government, more importantly the NRA to meet ASAP; effective IMMEDIATE HALT on all sales, barter of Assault and repeating high- and low-velocity weapons. 2. Further, agree to commit to coherent framework and adherence on compromise of legislation of weapons control. 3. To make this palatable to the NRA, and the GOP, there is room for COMPROMISE. This is clearly a system that is broken! Too many voices and suggestions that are unworkable. Before another tragic shooting occurs. The NRA does not want this anymore than anyone else.

The 4TH District is without a Council Representative and being under Todd Gloria's leadership is only leading him to Congress. We want Todd Gloria to listen to the constituents of the 4TH District when we came in masses to City Council and ask them NOT to vote on major issues that affect our District without our own representative. We didn't want the Port Commission vote to take place along with 2 other City Council Members and Todd ruled to have the vote anyway. We want an open and fair Democratic process!

Congress has worked less than 200 days in calandar year 2012 the average pay for a congressman is $174,000 the average American family is $36,000, which is 4 times greater should we not expect 4 times the work Congress is notoriously known for not getting the job done. So let's make their jobs pay performance based. The easiest thing to do for any legislator is to show up for votes and many do not. So if you are a no show you do not get paid. No one in congress has the right not to show up for their job and be able to get paid. This is basic to any employee employer relationship, you must show up on time and be prepared to do your daily diligence. Congress has also been working less days per week, and months but they keep getting pay increases. If Congress decide to leave early and not complete "We The People", business their pay should reflect that. They should not receive full pay for no work or partial work.

This is petition is to prevent constant legislation being brought to the House or Senate floors for votes and neither party has enough votes to pass or repeal said legislation, (ie Health Care Reform Act vote to be repealed by Republican House 35 times). Every time Congress brings a bill to the floor for voting it cost taxpayers millions of dollars. This is waste that adds to countries deficit and could be cut out completely. One way to target this partisan deadlock in Congress is to penalize the party Headquaters by a fine. Another way is to deduct a 1/2 percent point loss to voters voting priveledges for 3 to 6 months. This is a way to get Congress doing "WE THE PEOPLE", business again and stop partisan gridlock.

Something is broken in Congress. The filibuster has been distorted into a weapon in a partisan war, effectively making legislative progress impossible, imperiling essential policies supported by the American people, and blocking vitally important judicial nominations. As the fiscal cliff negotiations made clear, Washington is deeply divided. The Senate needs to reform its rules in order to ensure that these divisions do not jeopardize the progress we need to make on jobs, climate change, immigration, and more. It's time for the Senate to pass common-sense rules reforms to end routine obstruction and ensure that the Senate will once again be able to address the critical issues facing our country.
