Close the Healthcare Coverage GapIt is projected that 1,176 Georgians will die this year due to inaccessible healthcare. The remaining 500,000 who survive fall into a coverage gap, created by Governor Nathan Deal and the Georgia General Assembly when they voted to opt out of coverage expansion available through the Affordable Care Act, and almost 3.5 BB dollars. The cost, in terms of human lives, and human potential, however, is incalculable, quite staggering and incredibly devastating for the loved ones of Georgia’s victims. I know- I am one of many.244 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Barbara Christmas Tillman

Washington Support for House Bill 2009 to not allow personal vaccine exemptions for schoolPublic health officials have tied the rise in pertussis and measles to the lowering of the vaccination rate. If this trend continues, the immunity of the entire population is threatened (known as ‘herd immunity’). Dangerous communicable diseases will spread further, and will also affect people who have been vaccinated—those with weakened immune systems, the very young, the very old, and the like. This petition seeks to address falling vaccination rates by requiring all children to be vaccinated in order to attend Washington schools unless they have a medical condition that precludes it or are member of a church with does not allow medical interventions.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kathy Hennessy

Expand Medicaid in NebraskaI believe that expanding medicaid is the right thing to do, especially when it's almost free. There are 54,000 people in Nebraska who do not have health coverage now and would if we accepted federal money to expand Medicaid. The Nebraska Unicameral voted against this last year. It seems that they are afraid of anything associated with "Obamacare". Nebraska should accept federal funding to expand Medicaid.1,258 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Gwendolen Hines

Make Vaccines Mandatory to Attend California Public SchoolsThe California Department of Public Health has reported a sharp rise in the incidence of pertussis (whooping cough) over the past four years, declaring this disease an epidemic in 2014. There was an outbreak of measles in 2014 as well. The Los Angeles Times and numerous other media sources have published data on vaccine rates in Southern California showing the widespread use of the “personal belief exemption” (CA Code 120365) by parents to excuse their children from mandatory vaccinations. Public health officials have tied the rise in pertussis and measles to the lowering of the vaccination rate. If this trend continues, the immunity of the entire population is threatened (known as ‘herd immunity’). Dangerous communicable diseases will spread further, and will also affect people who have been vaccinated—those with weakened immune systems, the very young, the very old, and the like. This petition seeks to address falling vaccination rates by requiring all children to be vaccinated in order to attend California schools unless they have a medical condition that precludes it.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Pro-Vaccine Parents of Santa Cruz County

Medicaid expansion in MissouriI know people who fall in the Medicaid gap who cannot get coverage. I also know medical professionals who see firsthand how the failure to expand Medicaid results in increased use of emergency department resources, underpayment to hospitals and medical professionals, and substantial loss of work productivity.3,387 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Phil Wood

Fair Treatment of Oklahoma Nurse PractitionersAs in many of our nations states with the worst health care systems, Oklahoma's Nurse Practitioners are restricted from providing their full scope of trained practice and subsequently restricted access to care and poor patient outcomes are a result. Despite Oklahoma’s 49th ranking in our nation’s state health care system, our leaders remain hesitant to act against physician-led special interest groups quoting false fears and biased opinions. We firmly believe that with organized public support founded on the volumes of evidence-based studies that support Nurse Practitioner Free practice, our States leaders will eventually act to break the special interest lead stranglehold on our health care policy by adopting policies and practices based on the widely available volumes of evidence based findings.3,678 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Gary Seymour

Save our children from drugsI cannot find a drug rehabilitation place for my 17 year old. I have to wait until he is 18 and then he can make his own decision if he wants to go or leave the facility. One of three outcomes will happen: my son will either end up in jail and use taxpayers money or take more money from us by being on welfare, die where it will be the govt or states fault (big lawsuit) or grow out of it and be successful. One out of three chance. All of Long Island is affected by Xanax, marijuana, heroin, pills, etc. A psychiatrist told me to move off of Long Island. That is how bad the drugs are. We need to help our children before they can make their own decisions. We need help and soon.116 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Helene Krull

Funding for Gliomatosis cerebriThis petition is personal; our son Christopher was diagnosed with Gliomatosis cerebri. Finding a cure is crucial for this deadly cancer. Our "new normal" life has taught us very disturbing facts about government funding for our children. Did you know only 4% of the government's budget is allotted to pediatric cancer? Funding for rare Gliomatosis cerebri is crucial. This is NOT OKAY! We will not sit back and wait and watch our son become another statistic. We have lost too many children to this horrific disease. Please help us spread awareness and ask our public officials to help give our children a fighting chance. We need research money. The petition will take 2 minutes of your time. We thank you for all your love and support I this extremely important matter. Thank you!290 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Maria Gratton

Require Informed Consent for CT Nursing Home Elders to Reduce Harmful Anti-Psychotic Medicatio...It is firmly recognized that Anti-Psychotic medications sedate and may cause seizures, falls and even death in the elderly. Billions in fines have been paid by pharmaceutical companies to the federal government for illegal promotion targeting dementia patients, with untold waste of healthcare dollars and damage to elders' lives. Even with successful efforts at reduction, the use of anti-psychotics is frighteningly high. By Medicare data released last year, Connecticut still ranks last in New England and 34th in the nation for the usage of these meds. (Center for Medicare: see: http://www.cms.gov/Newsroom/MediaReleaseDatabase/Fact-sheets/2014-Fact-sheets- items/2014-09-19.html ) This is particularly concerning to Connecticut residents. By such a rating it must also rank low in the proposed antidote: "Person Centered Care." As concerned family members, at a minimum we ask to be told of this treatment (since facilities are not sanctioned for it) and to exercise choice via Informed Consent so that the human rights of vulnerable elders are respected. (If you are a non- Connecticut resident perhaps you might indicate your experience with the issue or your connection to Connecticut in comments and Thank You!) Senator Rand Paul, MD: As a doctor, you need to stop putting politics above sound medical practic...Since Senator Rand Paul is also a doctor, he has a duty to be extra careful in his statements about medical matters such as vaccination against measles. He has been irresponsible in putting politics above sound medical practice, and talked out of both sides of his mouth about vaccination against measles, trying to appear to say the right thing, while at the same time making unscientific statements designed to appeal to his right-wing fringe supporters. While all of the harm his statements have done cannot be reversed, the damage can be reduced by his retracting his incorrect, unscientific statements.2,598 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Frank Burton
