Everyone needs healthcare insurance. We all pay for the uninsured. Without protection from the ACA, millions will lose their benefits. As a person with disabilities and a former nurse, I've seen first hand how everyone benefits from access to preventive and comprehensive healthcare.

Elected officials are intended to be working in the interest of their constituents. As such, statements made while in office, should carry the weight and responsibility of truth.

Richwood was devastated by the 1000 year floods that hit West Virginia in June 2016. We've all come together and are winning the fight of our lives to rebuild. FEMA has promised to build us a shiny new High School and Middle School, but now the County BOE superintendent wants to SHUT DOWN RMS and RHS and bus our children across our very large county to a NEW consolidated School that none of us want. Nicholas County is the fifth largest county in the state, 638 square miles. We are plenty large enough to hold two combination High Schools and Middle Schools. If we are to combine schools, let's combine our high school with our middle school. Large consolidated schools have been proven in many studies to fail students from poor or rural backgrounds. There is a much higher rate of failure for children bused out of their community and a much higher dropout rate for these students as well. Our students would have to ride the bus at least 29 miles morning and afternoon over winding rural roads, dangerous in the snow (of which Nicholas County gets a lot). It has happened often that there was 3" of snow in Richwood when Summersville got only a dusting. Richwood High School has won awards for its academic excellence (US News & World Reports List of Best High Schools for AP participation and success). We are especially very proud of our music program with its award winning, multi-state competing and traveling marching band, The Lumberjack Express. Our Middle and High Schools are the very Heart of our little City. It would cause irreparable educational and economic damage to us all if we were to lose our beloved hometown schools.

Niagara Falls has been destroyed by obstructionism and petty infighting between politicians for too long. This petition is a well researched and honest effort by the people of Niagara Falls.

President Trump's executive order on immigration that suspends the US refugee program and resettlement of Syrian refugees and bans immigration from seven Muslim-majority nations is un-American and possibly unconstitutional. This order is creating massive chaos around the world, hurting the world's most vulnerable populations, and keeping families from being reunited. Leading Senate Democrats Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) have both introduced legislation to immediately repeal and defund this order. But Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is refusing to let it come to the floor for a vote – even though a growing contingent of Republican Senators are calling Trump's Muslim ban a threat to our national security and makes Americans around the globe less safe. Congress needs to hear from you to take action to overturn Trump's Muslim ban executive order.

On January 31, 2017 citizens participated in rallies and meetings at several of Sen. Rubio's local Florida offices, organized in part using tools provided by MoveOn.org. That day a spokesperson from Rubio's office made this statement to the Miami Herald: "The leftwing [sic] extremists at Move.On org and their paid protestors are entitled to express their opinions, and like all presidents, Trump is entitled to nominate his cabinet."[1] I am not a left-wing extremist, nor am I paid for these efforts. I'm just a mom engaged in democracy, which I have been my whole life. This is my first experience being directly attacked by a politician (via his spokesperson), and I am especially concerned since the statement is 100% false. I have been reaching out to Senator Rubio's offices for the better part of a month to find out about his specific positions on healthcare reform and education, issues that directly impact my children. In addition to policy questions, I asked when Senator Rubio would be available for meeting with citizens (individually or in town hall settings). Although I was told a policy staffer and scheduling staffer would contact me, it did not happen. When it became clear that my singular voice would not be heard, I helped organize rallies at one of his local offices two consecutive Tuesdays. It is not acceptable to use "alternative facts" to attack the reputation of regular citizens. American democracy demands participation, not simply voting every few years and walking away. Voicing questions and concerns to our elected representatives is a crucial part of democracy and to label it "extremism" undermines core American values. Spreading false information about citizens in an effort to pit one "side" against the other and intentionally manipulate public perception is called scapegoating. This is not leadership. Many people in the greater Madison community are concerned after the events of January 26, 2017, and the Chancellor's lack of appropriate response to the white nationalist group that is attempting to form on campus. The safety of ALL community members should be the University of Wisconsin's top priority, not oppressive political moves.

As President Trump noted "Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more." I support President Trump's statement and I think that Americans should unite around this cause. President Trump has at least four years to accomplish it and I hope he'll follow through with his support.

Michigan taxpayers are already funding Gov. Snyder's personal legal defense for the Flint Water Crisis. Now Snyder's office says that taxpayers will also pay to defend Flint Emergency Managers Darnell Earley and Gerald Ambrose – the Snyder administration cronies running the city when the water turned deadly. Enough is enough. Flint residents and fellow Michiganders shouldn’t be forced to pay to keep the officials who wronged them out of prison. It adds insult to injury – and it’s got to stop. Tell the Michigan Legislature to stop Gov. Snyder from raiding the public treasury today.

If candidates perjure themselves under oath during cabinet confirmation hearings, can we trust anything they say? Why isn't Congress outraged by the lies told to them during the hearings by Tom Price and Steve Mnuchin? Mnuchin lied about his bank, OneWest's, involvement in robot signing foreclosure documents; Price lied about the sweetheart deal he received to purchase pharmaceutical stock while he was introducing legislation to approve one of their drugs. The Committee's downplaying of these lies is cronyism of the worst sort and defies the laws of our land. If these candidates were the choice of a Democratic president, the committee members would be outraged and refuse to confirm. Instead, Mitch McConnell says the Democrats are just 'looking for issues.'
